Chapter 3: Working things Out

Another long day at work, and here he was stuck with a pile of paperwork. He had been at the office since 8:30 in the morning and was caught up with signing off on projects and meeting with different clients. It was already lunch time and he could feel his stomach growling. Looking at his watch, he decided it was time for a lunch break. Pulling out his phone, he called the first person he could think of having lunch with him.

“’ ‘ello,”

“Hey kkabyul, want to get lunch?”

“Are you paying?”

“Are YOU willing to pay?” laughed Taeyeon.

“No way, you’re the one who runs a company!”

“Fine, Fine… Abuse my hard-earned money,” Taeyeon pretended to cry.

“But you love me,”

“Do I really though?”

Taeyeon heard a scoff on the other end. “Yah!”

“Hahaha, I’ll see you at the usual spot in thirty minutes,”

With that set, they hung up. Quickly gathering his things, he made his way to his secretary who was busy organizing the paperwork he had just finished. A smile spread across his face. Where would he be without his secretary.

“Hey Jihyo, want anything while I’m out?” Taeyeon smiled, causing the latter to blush.

Pushing a strand of stray hair behind her ear, she looked up at him shyly, “A-Are you sure sir?”

“Yeah! Coffee? A meal? Have you eaten?”

“I-I haven’t eaten, but I need to finish this before the deadline,”

Taeyeon nodded in understanding, “I’ll get you a meal while I’m out to lunch with my cousin. Food allergies?”

Jihyo shook her head, “Anything that isn’t raw,” she smiled widely.

“Arasso, no nigiri for you” Taeyeon laughed waving goodbye as he made his way to the elevators.

It was Sunday, and what were you supposed to do on a Sunday afternoon? Jessica let out a sigh as she unpacked her belongings. She neatly placed them in the areas she wanted and made sure everything was organized. Jessica wasn’t really an organized person but being extremely bored does wonders. And now that she was living with someone, it would be embarrassing to her if Taeyeon saw how messy she was.

Being a nosy person, she snuck into Taeyeon’s room to look at his closet. It was no surprise that Taeyeon was very neat and organized. Taeyeon’s clothes were neatly arranged from whites to dark button down shirts nicely hung. Behind his dress shirts were his casual clothes arranged in the order of the rainbow. Hung at the button were his dress pants just below his dress shirts and then to his jeans. As for his shoes, they were all arranged nicely in a row at the bottom. This man was extremely organized. More of a reason for her to try to keep her things together.

Like he promised, the tall young lad made his way into the restaurant. The tall dreamy tan young lad walked through the doors, smiling at the usual hostess. He was still wearing his signature Ray-Bans aviators, a gift from his beloved Taeyeon. Walking towards their usual spot, he sat in front of his cousin.

“You rang my beloved cousin?” he smirked.

“Yul! Glad you could make it!” smiled Taeyeon widely.

“So, why did you call me here?” Yul questioned his cousin, eyeing him suspiciously.

“Is it bad to ask my favorite cousin out to

1eat?”

“Taeng…you do realize I’m your ONLY cousin that’s still here in Korea, pabo,” Yul scoffed.

Taeyeon couldn’t help but grin sheepishly, showing off his pearly whites. “Oh Yeah… anyways, I missed you… I missed the old days when we’d just mess around,” his voice going quiet at the thought of the memories.

“The good old days… before you became a genius and CEO of your family company,”

“I know I know… Now it’s all work and no play! I had time during college, but you know school always had to come first,” Taeyeon sighed.

“If only you used those time to find yourself a girlfriend… you’d be a happy man” said Yul pointing his butter knife at him.

Taeyeon couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. “Oh boy…”

Yul raised his brow. “What?”

“I… I’m engaged,” Taeyeon said slowly, looking at his cousin’s reaction.

“YOU’RE WHAT?!” Yul yelled, causing half the restaurant to look at them. Face turning red, he quickly bowed and kicked Taeyeon under the table, causing the latter to yelp.

“Hey! Don’t make me leave you the check,” Taeyeon groaned, rubbing his shin.

“You’re. What?!” Yul repeated, eyes wide looking at his cousin with daggers.

Taeyeon just looked at his cousin embarrassingly, scratching the back of his head. “I… I’m engaged,”
 

“Since when did you have a lover?” his cousin was still not convinced that the man before him was engaged.

“It’s an arranged marriage. It was planned before her and I were even born… and the girls family is in some deep doo-doo, so it was just a great way for our companies to merge and for our parents to fulfill their children getting married goals?” Taeyeon said nonchalantly looking over the menu, even though he already knew what he was going to order.

“What the actual Taeyeon, this is something you tell your cousin right away” Yul scoffed.

“I know… I know… but things weren’t finalized until like almost a month ago. My fiancée isn’t that bad. I mean… she’s pretty… quite mature… she’s sort of easy to read at times… although she’s still a high school student… she’s alright,”

Yul choked on his dream, “H-High school s-student?!”

“Yeah… She’s seventeen… your grade I think…”

“Interesting… what’s her name?”

“I am not obligated to say just yet,” Taeyeon said with seriousness.

Yul raised his brow. “Why not?”

“We made an agreement that we will stay under the radar as she’s still a high schooler. We don’t need to attract unwanted attention while she’s trying to finish her studies,”

Nodding, Yul let out a sigh. “What the man… You’re ing engaged… Pardon my French but holy ,”

Taeyeon couldn’t help but face palm himself.
