~A Balloon's Reflection~
MiNi StORies^^“One, two, three, throw!” yelled one of my college mates when the ceremony ended. After we took our graduation
picture, we threw our graduation hats up in the sky. It was really beautiful scenery as the sky was blue and bright and the
weather was not too hot or too cold. What made my graduation day more meaningful was the presence of my family. They
came all the way just to see me. That made me appreciate and love them even more. As I was walking around the sales
booths which were crowded with various people, my eyes started to search him.
“Where is he anyway?”, my thought was drifting away about him, who appreciates me. It was a dark and foggy night when I
first met him. As usual, I always take a midnight stroll after finished studying. That night, I was surprised to see someone
else at the lake that I always had been. I turned around with an intention to get away from there as fast as I can.
Suddenly, I heard a husky voice, “Hana Michardson, please do not go yet.” I turned around and our eyes met into each other.
“(~~`~`)”, I mumbled.
“What do you want?”, finally I asked after a long silence. He smiled and walked slowly to close our gaps. “I am
interested with you. Can you be my girlfriend?”, he said while trying to grab my hands. I looked at him furiously and
snatched back my hands from him. Out of the blue, I blurted, “I hate you and not only you. I always hate men. They are
nothing but only a pain. When they want a girl, they will flirt with them until the girl has fallen for it and after that, they
just left them without any explanation and reason.” Before I even finished my words, I was pulled into his arms. “Shush,
you stupid girl, just cry okay. It is normal for girls to cry you know?”. He whispered into my ears. His embrace surprisingly
made me felt comfortable and warmed my cold heart.
“Men are always bad, Hana!”, suddenly that word came into my mind and I struggled to get away from him. He released me
and sighed. “If I know you will be hurt like this, I swear that I will make you mine earlier than him. Hana that I knew is not
a pessimistic person.” With those words, he left me in confusions. That confusion lasted for months and during that period
of time, I never saw him ever again. Somehow, it made me sad because I could not see him again. One night, I decided to go
to a convenience store to buy bread for the next day breakfast. On my way back, I heard footsteps were following me
from behind and it was getting closer each seconds. I was frightened and changed my route to run away from those
footsteps without realising the place I was going was a dead end. It was too late, when I turned back, there were gross-
looking men looking at me lustfully. When I tried to scream, one of them covered my mouth with a piece of cloth and I felt
sleepy. “Oh no, it’s chloroform”. Before the chemical began to fully react, suddenly I was in someone’s arms and the men
that tried to me all had been beaten by someone. “Not all men are bad, Hana”, he said to me before I collapsed. The
next thing I know, the next morning, I was in a bed and all around me is white. I tried to wake up but pain spread throughout
all my body. I decided to sleep again until I realised that someone is holding my hand. It was him. To be precise, he looks
like a child when he is sleeping and that makes me chuckled a bit.
To all of the sudden, he woke up. I was surprised and controlled myself from the chuckling sound that I have made just
now. “Hi, morning! Feeling much better Hana?”. His first word to me as soon as he opened his eyes. “I’m fine.”. He smiled
to me and went out of the room. It feels that something lost when he released my hand. My heart felt lonely for no reason.
Suddenly, tears coming out from my eyes. I was shocked. His presence really effects me in some way and because of his
absence I suddenly cries?. As I tried to calm myself, a finger caressed my cheeks and wiped the tears away. “ Hana, I
don’t know why are you crying but please believe in me. I will not hurt you like that bastard had done to you.” Said him while
holding my hand towards his chest.
“Miss, miss”, I looked down to see who called and was tugging my robe. It was a cute boy and he was holding something.
“Miss, this is for you”, the kid said and handed me a soft, toy octopus which I accepted it gladly. I thanked the boy and
began to examine the octopus. There was a card with it too. “Will you be mine throughout life and death?” it said. I smiled
because it was from him, my friend and my foe after he rescued me that night. When I looked up, he was in front of me,
smiling and holding a bouquet of while lily with a green balloon which I can see a ring’s reflection in it. Suddenly, he kneeled
down. “ Will you be mine, Hana?”. He asked and stand up again to pop up the balloon to get the ring out. “Of course (~~~), of
course.” I smiled and continued, “Thanks for making me your someone’s special”. “It’s my pleasure”. Said him before peck a
kiss on my cheeks.
