Blessed BulletsHe was okay. My eyes opened up wide and I flew around his neck, I bumped my hands against the ground but they found their way around his neck. I cursed. I could feel his chest vibrate, which means he chuckled. 'Missed me that much, eh?' Kai spoke in broken French.
My arms flew of his neck and my feet found the ground, I quickly got up and held out a hand. He was never good in French, I had to be honest, he was the worst one in his class. He gladly took my hand, resisting as I tried to lift him, he made himself as heavy as possible. Eventually I dropped his hands, 'Wait, y'aren't going to lift me up?'
I rolled my eyes and seated myself on the tree, examining my ankle. It hurted a bit but it wasn't that bad. He took the seat next to me and dusted himself off. He wore a brown suit, and his dark locks peeked from his hat. 'I knew it was you once I saw you. Y'a haven't changed.' He smiled, examining my ankle too.
'I wanted to visit you, but I was busy with patients.. My apologies.' He sounded regretful. 'I should have searched for you sooner.. I apologise too. But are you still a..? I mean,..' I didn't know how to ask, it was something we both wanted to forget.
He smiled sadly, 'Yes, I am.' His face cleared up, he had switched over to English. 'But let's not talk about that, how have you been? What do you do to make a living? And why are you here?' He playfully elbowed me.
'I've been doing good, after I ran away I was taken into a household. I'm staying here with the head of the household, a really kind-hearted man. I'm a vampire-hunter and we have a mission somewhere more south. Thats why we're here.' He tilted his head.
'And.. Uhm, how did you escape?' I knew what he was talking about. I still felt guilty about running away without him. 'Look, I don't know how you can ever forgive me for leaving you-..' He stopped me with a "Don't".
I nodded and swallowed, time to tell him the story. And I told him.

He watched me with big eyes, his mouth agape. As I finished the story he turned really quiet, 'God..' escaped his mouth.
