Nice and Straight
Red StringThe grass tickled my arms and legs as the breeze gently swayed. I opened my eyes and sat up, giggling. There it was again. The red string. It was so calm, so serene, so beautiful. I raised my stubby child arms, reaching out. My sausage fingers slipped right through the red line, prohibiting me from grasping it. I stood up, entangling my hands with the mesmerizing red light and ambled along until I reached the end. The line slanted diagonally as a hand rested on my head. Following the string, my eyes landed on my mother's smiling face.
"Hello little princess."
Suddenly the other end began rising as I felt myself ascending. I turned my head to face my father laughing.
"There's my cute little angel. Give daddy a kiss?" I frowned, turning towards my mother in disgust.
"Ew your face is scratchy!" The string bounced along with me as my father fell into hearty laughter followed by my mother. At this very moment, the string maintained its serene glow, exuding a calming aura. It looked joyful and exuberant, just like my parents.
It was nice and straight.
