Chaeyoung dragged Tzuyu to the cafeteria the next day, chatting excitedly about this and that and Tzuyu was too hungry to translate half of it. They sat down with their trays full and Chaeyoung muttering about starting a diet the next day, which Tzuyu didn't mention she had said the day before. She eat her meal silently before she felt Chaeyoung kick her under the table.

Tzuyu looked up with a glare but Chaeyoung's eyes were somewhere else.

“Minatozaki Sana is looking at you.” She whispered.

Tzuyu glanced over and met the eyes of the girl she had met the day before, waving at her excitedly.

Tzuyu waved back less enthusiastically and turned back to her food.

“Um, why is one of the most popular girls waving at you?” Chaeyoung questioned.

“Eh,” Tzuyu looked around awkwardly, she wasn't sure why she should feel awkward about it exactly, she just did, “I don't know.”

“You're new here, like literally new, how have you managed to become friends with the popular girls already.” Chaeyoung whined.

“I'm not exactly friends with her.” Tzuyu quickly denied, “I met her yesterday at the softball field, she saw me pitching and asked me to try out.” She explained.

“You play softball?!” Chaeyoung squealed, “So do I! Are you going to try out next week?”

“Oh,” Tzuyu responded in surprise, she hadn't quiet pegged Chaeyoung as a softball player, “I don't know...”

“You have to try out! I mean you must be really good if Minatozaki Sana asked you to try out.” Chaeyoung said.

“Why do you keep saying her name like that?” Tzuyu asked curiously, she had suspected that by being on the team that Sana would be somewhat popular but Chaeyoung continued to say her name with such importance she was wondering exactly how popular she was.

“Sorry, of course you don't know.” Chaeyoung set down her fork and leaned forward, “But I'm sure you would have figured it out by her name alone.” She mumbled, “Sana's dad is Minatozaki Nori.” She whispered, her eye's wide and expectant.

Tzuyu tried recalling where she had heard the name before, it tugged in her head annoyingly.

“The pitcher for the Twins.” She explained further, “Played with Yankee's before he went minor league.”

 Tzuyu's eye's widened as she finally understood, Minatozaki Nori was a big deal, her dad even owned a jersey with his name on it from back when he was in the Yankee's. No wonder Chaeyoung had made such a big deal out of Sana's name.

“Now you got it.” Chaeyoung nodded at her reaction, “See, if Sana thinks you should try out then you must be really good. And our schools star pitcher graduated so there's definitely a spot open for you.”

“I still don't know,” Tzuyu pushed her food around, “I kinda gave up softball.”

“What? Why?” Chaeyoung responded, sounding a tad bit offended.

Tzuyu shrugged, “I use to be on a really intense team and I kinda started to hate it.”

“Well this is high school softball, it's probably way different then your old team.” Chaeyoung tried reassuring. “Why don't you at least think about it and come with me to the try out? I'm really nervous about trying out.”

Tzuyu gave her a soft smile and nodded.  

Later that night, Tzuyu lay in bed staring at the trophies on the wall and wondering if perhaps a new team would resurrect that love she once had for the sport.
