Tzuyu started her first day of school not really expecting much and with her minimal knowledge of Korean she wasn't expecting to make many friends. Luckily she hadn't transferred in the middle of the year and was starting the school year with other new kids as well. She managed to somewhat befriend a short girl named Chaeyoung with adorable dimples. Chaeyoung talked mostly and Tzuyu understood her half the time. She was thankful her mother had hired her a tutor over the summer for her to study so she wasn't completely clueless but she was far from fluent.

After the first day was over, she wasn't quite ready to go home, so she wondered around the school familiarizing herself with the campus.

She found herself on a softball field after a while.

She was surprised to find the school had one and walked towards the pitchers mound. Memories came to her as she stood on the small hill. Looking around, her eyes landed on a bucket by home plate. Her hands ached as she stared at the bucket, recalling the feeling of the ball, her left hand being weighed down by the memory of a heavy glove.

Glancing around she found no one in sight, so she walked over to the bucket of balls and picked up one large bright ball and walked back to the mound.

Her body eased easily to the familiar position as she imagined a field of players standing behind her, a crowd of people cheering her on and the glove awaiting the ball in her hand. The toe of her converse drew a power line on the dirt and she began loading for a fast pitch. It was effortless for her as she fired the ball straight forward in one easy stride. The ball banged loudly against the fence as it arrived quickly at her intended designation.

She smiled, it had been a while since she had thrown a ball and she could feel the ache from the absence in her shoulder but it was a feeling she welcomed. And she could just hear the umpire yell, “Strike”.

The sound of clapping brought her back to reality and she looked to see a girl in one of the dugouts. She wore typical practice gear and her hair was up in a ponytail.

Tzuyu blushed as the girl skipped over.

Up closer now, Tzuyu was stunned by how pretty she was.

“That was the fastest fastball I've ever seen.” The girl complimented with a large smile, it was breathtaking and she was glad she was able to understand.

“T-thank you.” Tzuyu responded.

“Are you a new year? You must be. I would have recognized you other wise. Are you going to join the team? We're having late try outs for those who couldn't make it to summer tryouts next week.” The girl quickly questioned.

“Oh, um, I don't know.” Tzuyu bit her lip.

“C'mon you got to. With an arm like that? It would be waste.” She pressed on. “Oh, I'm Sana by the way.”

“I'm Tzuyu.” She responded.

They both glanced over as other girls began entering the field and Tzuyu slowly backed away, hoping to leave without being noticed.

“Hey!” Sana whined as she noticed. “Why don't you stay for practice?”

“I-I have to go home.” Tzuyu quickly excused herself as she scooped up her bag from the floor and all but ran off the field.

On the way home she thought about what Sana had said about tryout's and she wondered if she should go.

Not only could she be on a team again, she would also get to see the cute girl again.
