Iris had been with Jackson when he received the call from Mark, and the first thing that either one of them heard, before any words were spoken, was a deafening crash.
Iris frowned deeply as she watched her boyfriend try to conduct a conversation with one of his closest friends, standing up from his seat at the foot of the bed and drifting over to his closet. They didn’t talk long; not even a minute had passed before Jackson was back off of the phone, pulling a pair of black sneakers out to put on his feet.
“What the hell was that?” Iris couldn’t help but inquire, watching as he dropped to the floor quickly to lace his shoes.
“I don’t know,” Jackson responded after a moment, “but it sounds like the zombie apocalypse at Mark’s place.” He finished with his shoes and stood from the floor, walking over to grab his keys off of the desk; he glanced over at her as he reached them, his dark, almond shaped eyes intent on her face. “Are you coming or what?” Iris didn’t have to be asked twice; she didn’t hesitate to get up from her seat on the bed as well, slipping her feet back into her flats and following Jackson out of his apartment. Jackson’s Jeep Nitro awaited them in the parking lot; Iris had barely gotten into her seatbelt before Jackson pulled out of his parking spot and eventually the parking lot, speeding through the five minute trip to Mark’s apartment on Salzedo Street. It seemed as if Mark had contacted more than just Jackson; as they pulled up to the back of Mark’s expansive apartment complex they spotted the black Audi of Jin-young Park, Jr., or Junior to them, pulling into a parallel parking spot as well. They got out at the same time as the passengers of the Audi; Junior and Youngjae Choi, who lived near Junior in Miami.
