Fifteen:
On Immortality:"Ah. Not good."
Sungwon, the tallest out of us three, stood on his toes to look to the front of the crowd.
"I think I see soldiers.
Riot gear, barricades, guns."
He listed off what he could see.
"Lets fall back."
We slowed to a stop as the others moved forward.
"Can we stay?"
Nahyun's breathless voice came from between us.
"It's so... exciting."
"Nahyun, I don't think you understand the severity of the situation."
Sungwon sounded serious.
He was rarely serious.
"People can die in things like this."
"So why'd you come?"
Nahyun challenged, lifting her chin.
"The country isn't running the way it should be.
I'm fighting for what I believe in, knowing full well the risks."
His voice turned very dark.
"If I die or get hurt, I am an adult and I knew that was a risk.
But you're still under mom and dad."
He gently pushed both of us back.
"We're leaving.
I won't be responsible for my sister's death."
Nahyun gave in and began to walk reluctantly.
"Sorry I made you come too, Jieun.
I didn't know that there'd be guns."
The air grew very tense.
"Come on, duck your heads and speed up."
We found our way out of the mass as the first shot rang out.
So here I am.
Running again.
