Fourteen:
On Immortality:Someone slung their arm around my neck.
I looked up.
"Sungwon?"
"Yes?"
He batted his eyelashes and feigned surprise.
He removed his arm.
"Oh no, Jieun, when shall you ever study now?"
I made the ugliest face I could muster.
He always joked about me studying.
He always only does the bare minium.
Of course it looks like I'm a workaholic to him.
"Come on, you needed the fresh air.
It's not good to be looking at books all the time.
They ruin your eyes."
I looked ahead.
The sea of people didn't seem to end.
"I was getting air.
I was outside."
"Not enough; it's good you're running with us."
A girl's voice chimed in.
Nahyun.
His sister.
"What're you doing here?
Why'd you bring her?"
Sungwon shrugged.
"She wanted to follow me.
She doesn't like school anyway."
"It's not safe for kids.
She's fifteen, did you forget?"
"I'm not a kid."
She sounded offended.
"I can make my own decisions."
I sighed.
"Okay, but what if you get hurt?
Think about your parents."
She shrugged.
"We're slowing down."
She panted.
"Thank God."
