The Adoption (part. 2 -end-)

Flutter

*warning: I don't actually know much about orphanage or adoption, so if you find something weird with this, please be a little more understanding.. I'm trying my best to make it fit to my logic, but I'm sorry if I made any mistake regarding this whole process.. >___<*

Aannnnndd.. Happy Birthday our dino-like angel, Jang Dongwoo! : )

Woohyun finished reading Peter Pan for the kids and even do an encore with reading a tale of Snow White, when Ailee told them it's their study time. Sunggyu help with moving the whiteboard to the front of the room and Woohyun help to set the study table for the kids.

Ailee comes with a math books for the elder ones and drawing books for the younger kids. Woohyun offer to help watching over the younger ones and give them a theme for their drawing today, animals they like the most.

The room grown quiet as the kids was busy with their own tasks. Sunggyu slid down to sit beside his husband and watch how Woohyun's face is glowing from happiness. The younger really love to be around the kids.

He gazes around the room to see how the other kids doing, but he was eyeing the little boy in particular. Sunggyu see the kid's eyebrows furrowed in concentration as the boy took the grey crayon from the pack.

There's something in this Myungsoo kid that woken up his father instinct more. He wants to be the one who gave him happiness, together with Woohyun. It might feel a bit rushed, but he need to talk to Dongwoo about it later.

An hour passed and Ailee asks them to collect their assignment for today to be graded. The younger children also collect theirs and Jangjun the eldest, give their drawings to Woohyun. He walks back to his seat, grinning although he is missing one tooth, but the boy is still cute.

Woohyun together with Sunggyu was giving their most excited reaction, praising and cooing at Jangjun's raccoon, Youngtaek's monkey and Seungmin's pink(?) mouse. The kids were giggling, happy with the praise.

When it comes to Myungsoo's grey cat, the couple was so shock on how well the little boy draw the cat. Woohyun smile as he realizes something. "Myungsoo-ya, is this little cat plushy I gave you earlier? You draw him?"

The little boy nodded. "Byeol." He said shyly.

Woohyun was giving the child a curious and confused look. "Byeol?"

Myungsoo nod again, he points at the plushy. "His name is Byeol."

Realization finally dawn on Woohyun. He let out a chuckle. "Ahh.. So, you already name him? Byeol is it? It's a pretty name. You're doing a good job, Myungie."

Woohyun didn't realize he was calling the other with a pet name already, but it feels so fitting with the cute little boy and he like the sound of it. But contrary to Woohyun, Myungsoo look sad at the pet name.

Before Woohyun could ask anything about it, Dongwoo come to the room and told the kids it's their free time already. So, the kids follow the elder and his wife to the backyard and leaving Woohyun with Sunggyu in the play room with a promise to join them soon.

"Hey, baby. What's bothering you now?" Sunggyu asked his seemingly down husband once it's only two of them in the room.

Woohyun let out a sigh, before he leans his head on the elder's shoulder. "It's Myungsoo. I don't know if it was my imagination, but I'm sure I saw his face grown sad when I accidentally call him Myungie. He also looks still a bit distant with the other kids here. I.. I want to know more about him, to protect him and heal him. Give him all the happiness he deserves."

Sunggyu patted Woohyun's head and left a kiss on the younger's crown. "I know, I saw it too. I think we need to talk to Dongwoo to know more things about him and the possibility of adopting him."

"And what exactly do you want to talk to me, Sunggyu hyung?" Speak of the devil. Dongwoo come in right when they talk about him. He had an understanding look on his face, like he already had an idea of what the couple wants to discuss.

"Ohh, Dongwoo hyung." Woohyun remove his head from Sunggyu's shoulder to look at his cousin's direction. "Actually, can you tell us more about Myungsoo? We.." He glace at his husband, who gives him a nod of approval. "We were thinking, if it was okay for us to adopt him."

Dongwoo let out a small sigh, the thing that Woohyun rarely see his elder cousin did all these years they know each other. He sits down, not far from the couple. "I believe you already heard briefly of what happened to him from Ailee, right?"

When he see the couple nod at his question, Dongwoo continue. "Well, it was actually deeper than that. Myungsoo suffers a mental trauma from losing the people in his life and developed a mental barrier to not let himself getting close to others quickly."

"The first few days we brought him here, it was the hardest. He refuses to eat and talk to us at all, both me and Ailee was thinking if it was a wise decision to bring him here in the first place. We were afraid we would only worsen his condition." Dongwoo had a serious look on his face, maybe only being reminded of that time, was already make him sad.

"But then, we believe that kids also have a power to heal people. That's why we encourage the kids here to try talk to him and accompany him to eat, not in a pushy way, but the way only the kids who could do it." Then, Dongwoo let out a small smile.

"It works. Slowly but surely, he starts to open himself to the other kids here. They talk and treat him as if he was one of them for years, offering their toys and play with him. Myungsoo was improving and he still did until now. His old neighbors told me that Myungsoo was actually a bright and cheerful kid before the accident happens, so as you can see, we still have to work on that."

Woohyun and Sunggyu had an understanding look on their face after hearing the explanation, finally they know more about the little boy and how the boy need time to open up to them. But Woohyun still have another question for the elder.

Woohyun couldn't help but ask. "Hyung, then do you know about why Myungsoo look sad when I call him Myungie earlier? It was by accident, but I was sure he looks a bit down after I call him by that name."

"Ahh.. You must be curious, Hyun-ah. The thing is, the neighbor told us that actually his mom used to call him with that pet name and I think he was sad because it reminds him of his parents. We avoided calling him that since we know about it, but you must be shock." Dongwoo had a pitying look on his face, he pat Woohyun's head apologetically.

"And about the adoption." Dongwoo is back to his cheerful self, smile getting bigger. "People always mesmerized by his good look at the first sight and wanting to adopt him because most of them thinking that adopting a kid his age is easier than infant, which they could save their time on sleepless night feeding and attending a crying baby."

"That's where they went wrong. Raising a seven-year-old kid is by no means, easier than infant, because at this age they got really sensitive with what's happening around them. They start to have urges, want to explore many things and parents' role are more needed in supporting their little journey. This is where parents need to guide them and teaching what is good and what is bad, without limiting their creativity."

Dongwoo ended his preaching. Time for the real question. "Are you sure you are ready to give all of it to him, Hyunnie?"

Woohyun feel it, when his husband's hand starts to reach out to him and hold it firmly. He looks at Sunggyu's face and the elder let out an assuring smile, they had their decision already. Woohyun smile as he replied. "Yes hyung, we are ready."

"I see." Dongwoo seems satisfied with the answer and grins at the display of affection from the couple in front of him. "Well, most of the potential parents before you were either shut by me or by him. He might look adorable and silent, but he is really stubborn and I love him too much to not give in to him and reject them in the end."

"But no worries, I know you and you got my permission to adopt him, so you're halfway from reaching your goal. You only need to make him like you and agree to be adopted by you and I'll prepare the papers in the speed of light." Dongwoo had this teasing smile when he finished with telling the couple his opinion on their decision.

“Besides, he had the same surname with Gyu hyung. I think it was a destiny as well.” Dongwoo absentmindedly added.

Sunggyu rolled his eyes at that, but the smile on his face betrayed his annoyed expression. “Yeahh. Like the rest of thousands other Koreans.”

Woohyun get up from where he was siting before and hug his cousin, earning him a laugh from Dongwoo. "Thank you Dongwoo hyung. Me and Gyu hyung would try to make him love us and agree to be adopted on his own." He had a wide smile on his face by the time he releases the hug.

"Then.. Good luck? I guess." Dongwoo grins and start to get up. "But first, come outside both of you. The kids were playing hide and seek and ask you to join them. They almost ask me to drag you earlier, because they're getting impatient."

--

That was the start of Woohyun and Sunggyu's mission to win the little boy's heart. Every day for a week during the kid's school holiday, the couple comes to play with the children and to make Myungsoo get familiar with them at the same time.

Woohyun offers to cook lunch and dinner sometimes, since they usually spend both of the meal time at the orphanage. Besides, the more is the merrier. And they love his cooking, so Woohyun couldn't be any happier.

Ailee was grateful with the help, she could spend more time to join the kids playing, where she usually had to cut it down for the sake of doing the house chores.

Dongwoo was still busy, since turns out there are potential parents who taking interested in adopting Bora. He need to settle some legal papers for them and thankful of Woohyun and Sunggyu coming at the right time to help them at the orphanage.

Sunggyu, prefer to silently join in when they watch over the kids during the play time or study time (it's holiday, but they still need to study for one hour at least), he also silently taking notes of Myungsoo's behavior. He could see it already, some of the things that took the kid's interest.

They keep the same routine for a week, even though Sunggyu had to leave for a meeting that couldn't be postponed, once or twice. But eventually, the couple could feel that Myungsoo had warmed up to them quickly. Probably they made a good first impression with the grey cat plushy, Woohyun always had a good instinct for what the kids like.

Then, the second week came. Sunggyu couldn’t stretch more of his day-off, since there's so much documents that need his approval (although he works on it too from home) and meeting with an important client. So, Woohyun come alone to the orphanage after Sunggyu drive him off.

Sunggyu bid him goodbye with a quick peck on his forehead and a loving 'take care', before he took off to his office. Dongwoo greet him in front of the door as always with a forever grin on his face and a quick hug. Ailee was in the laundry room while the kids were left to play with themselves for a while.

Woohyun was heading to the play room after a quick greeting to Ailee who promise she would join him soon on the way to meet the kids and parting with Dongwoo who went to his office, when he spots Myungsoo sitting on the swing at the backyard.

The boy was alone, only accompanied by the grey cat plushy and the scene makes Woohyun heart ache a bit. He wonders why Myungsoo was alone, not joining the other kids in the play room. He got a bit torn whether he should check on the kids first or approach the lone boy.

But he decides on doing the latter, since there is Bora in the room and she usually did a good job on watching over the other children. He believes in the ten-years-old girl's skill on handling the younger kids. So, Woohyun find himself walking closer to the swing.

The boy had a somber look on his face when he approaches him and upon a closer inspection, there's tears streaming on both the boy's cheeks. It startled Woohyun, as he quickly kneels to meet the boy's wet eyes.

"Hey, Myungsoo-ya.. Why are you crying? Did you get hurt anywhere?" Woohyun's voice is thick with concern. He couldn't hide how panic he gets when the boy only shook his head and start crying harder.

Woohyun acts on instinct and couldn't care less if he might be crossing the boundaries with the boy too fast, he hugs Myungsoo who sobs turned harder on the elder's shoulder. He pat lightly the boy's back to soothe him, prefer not to ask further the reason why the little boy cry for now.

After ten minutes passed, the sobs are slowly coming to stop. Woohyun was actually almost tearing up himself, but he feels a bit happy because Myungsoo didn't reject his advance. Hearing the boy already calm a little, Woohyun detached himself from the surprisingly still clinging Myungsoo.

Woohyun cooed silently at the little gesture, since that means the boy actually trust him more than he imagines. He cups the young boy's face and wipes the remaining tears with his thumbs. He was glad the younger didn't reject him.

He remembers then, he bought a few chocolates to share with the kids today. So, he fishes out some of the chocolates from his pocket and offer it to the boy. "Myungsoo, do you want a chocolate?"

Myungsoo still look sad, but he nods and accepts the chocolate. Woohyun help him to open the chocolate and watch as the boy eats it slowly. Afterwards, there's only silence between the two of them.

Woohyun decide to break the silence because it feels too much. "You know, Myung. Chocolate had a substance called serotonin in them, people believe it would make us feel happy."

The boy looked a bit puzzled, frown appear on his cute face. "Ser-seronin?" The words seem strange to the seven years old boy's ear. "It makes us happy?" He looks at Woohyun clueless.

Woohyun chuckled at the misspelled word, but Myungsoo is only seven years old, it was to be expected. "It's serotonin, baby. And yes, the scientists believe so. That's why I always eat chocolate when I feel sad, it would make the sad things go away."

"Really?" Myungsoo look amazed at the new fact and quickly eat the chocolate in his hold.

"Hey, don't need to rush Myungsoo-ya. The chocolate wouldn't go anywhere." Woohyun let out a small laugh at the boy's cuteness. "I still have some more." He smiles fondly at the little boy who turns to eat slower.

When Myungsoo finally finished his chocolate, Woohyun wipe the remaining chocolate mess on the boy's lips with his handkerchief. Myungsoo look a lot better now and Woohyun think it was the right time for him to ask the little boy about the reason behind his tears earlier.

"Myungsoo." Woohyun call the boy to gain his attention on him. "Can you tell uncle Woohyun now, why did you cry earlier?"

The boy looks a bit nervous and sad at the question, but after some seconds, he was mumbling something. His voice was so soft, that Woohyun had to strain his ear to hear the words despite the close distance. But he eventually heard it.

"Bora noona is going to be adopted soon. What if the other kids are soon going to be adopted too? What if no one want to adopt me? I'm going to be alone."

Now, Woohyun fully understood the reason why the boy was crying. Myungsoo was insecure about himself and probably had a trauma with separation. Things that a seven-year-old shouldn't be thinking.

"Myungie, you shouldn't have a thought like that. You are so cute, smart and lovable, everyone wants to love you and adopt you. In fact, I would adopt you myself if you allowed me to." The elder assured him.

Woohyun unintentionally let the pet name slip out again. But before he wants to apologize, afraid the boy would be sad again, Myungsoo once again surprised him.

"Really uncle?" The boy's doe and slightly red eyes were looking straight at Woohyun and if Woohyun never thought of adopting Myungsoo before, he definitely would after this. He couldn't help but squeal silently at the burst of cuteness from this small boy.

"Aww~ of course. Who would be able to resist our Myungmyung's charm?" Woohyun cooed. He heard a delight giggle from the little boy and his heart feels like it was shot with a love arrow once again (first one was Sunggyu of course).

Feeling that the moment was right, Woohyun tried to push his luck and talk about the serious matter with the boy. He tried to mask his nervousness with a cheerful voice. "Myungsoo-ya, do you like your uncle Woohyun?"

Myungsoo look a bit clueless, but the smile still etched on his adorable face. "Yes, uncle Woohyun. I like you. You're everybody's favorite uncle."

Woohyun didn't realize he was holding his breath from waiting the boy's answer. He let out a more relaxed sigh. But it was still too vague, he needs to know more. "Then.. What about uncle Sunggyu? Do you like him too?"

Myungsoo had a shy smile on his face, but he still nodded. "Uncle Sunggyu looks a bit scary sometimes, but Myung think he is okay. He helped me to eat the vegetables and give me his meat. I like him."

Woohyun laughed after hearing the boy's answer. Sunggyu indeed had this scary aura for people who aren't close to him yet, but he is actually such a softie for those who he held dear. And now Woohyun know why Ailee said that since Woohyun start coming and cooked for them, Myungsoo's plate always clean from the vegetables the boy usually left out. He needs to have a talk with his husband later.

"Then.. Do you.. Want us as your new parents? I mean, do you want to be adopted by me and uncle Sunggyu?" Woohyun was nervous as he carefully asks the little boy. "B-but you don't have to answer it now. Me and Sunggyu hyung can wait. A-and you could still call us uncle Woohyun and uncle Sunggyu if you want." He added quickly, afraid that the boy got pressured by his question.

Myungsoo blinked his eyes slowly. The seven years old boy had a blank look on his face and it turned Woohyun into a nervous wreck. He didn't know if his heart could take the rejection and he just realize now that it was a stupid and reckless move. He turned panicked inside, he shouldn't ask him this fast.

However, to Woohyun's utter amazement (and pleasant surprise), Myungsoo give him another shy smile. He didn't know what kind of good deed he had done in the past to deserve this kind of happiness when finally, Myungsoo answer him.

"C-can I call you appa instead, uncle Woohyun? Because I already call daddy Dongwoo with daddy."

The boy looks giddy and it was a super cute sight for Woohyun who feel his knees gone weak at the sweet answer. He couldn't help himself to let out a squeal and hug the little one, startling the little boy for some seconds.

"Yes, baby. You can call me appa or daddy Woohyun, whatever you like." Woohyun detached himself from Myungsoo, but still keep his arms around the boy. He was grinning so wide, beaming from happiness because the little boy finally accepts him!

Woohyun really thanked God for the amazing miracle bestowed upon him. He couldn't believe how the fate brought him to find the one, Myungsoo, so close to him all these times. And it seemed like the little boy also had the same unique attachment to him, like how he feels the first time he laid his eyes on Myungsoo's small figure.

Sunggyu hyung would be so happy to hear this news! Woohyun thought, as he looks at Myungsoo's face that mirrored his own happy smile. No wonder Sunggyu said that Myungsoo remind him of Woohyun, because now he realizes that the dimples on the boy's face somehow alike to his.

"It's a yes, right Myungie?" Woohyun asked again just to be sure. "Ahh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't call you that. Forgive this stupid uncle." He realized his mistake quickly this time and he start apologizing to the little boy.

However, the boy's smile didn't falter a bit. "Yes, unc-appa.." Myungsoo look at his lap in a shy manner. "And it's okay, appa and dad can call me Myungie. I-I love that name since my mommy used to call me Myungie. She said it was cute like me and only a special person who should call Myung with Myungie."

Woohyun couldn't believe his ears for one second. Did Myungsoo just unintentionally tell him that he is special for the boy? He feels like his heart going to stop soon from the over flowing happiness in one day. And dad?? Did he mean Sunggyu?

He can't help but ask in curiosity, he had to be sure it wasn't only in his head. "Does Myungie think that Woohyun appa is special? And who do you mean with 'dad', baby?"

Myungsoo look up from his lap to meet the elder's gaze. "Yes, daddy Dongwoo once said that mommy, daddy and grandma were happy in heaven and they would watch over me from a far. Then when I feel lonely and the time is right, they would send me a special person to take care of me in their place."

The boy smile as he remembers the talk with the orphanage head. "Myung thought daddy Dongwoo was talking about himself, but when Myung pray to daddy and mommy to show me their special person at night, appa and dad come here the next day. Dad is.. Uncle Sunggyu. Because uncle Sunggyu love you like how daddy loves mommy. So, Myung should call him dad, right?" Myungsoo shyly said.

Woohyun was so happy to whoever up there whom decide to set him up to come at the exact day after Myungsoo's prayer, probably it was really the boy's parents. He needs to thank Dongwoo too for giving the little boy a wonderful explanation of the adoption process, of course that would be how the elder look at things, always from a positive side.

"Thank you, Myungsoo-ya." Woohyun's voice was hoarse when he hugs the small boy, his eyes got teary from feeling too much emotion at the same time. Joy, proud, thankful, and many other things mixed as one. Even afraidafraid he would disappoint the little boy's parents, afraid he couldn't be the best father figure to the little angel.

But he quickly wiped his tears before it dropped to Myungsoo's shoulder. He detached himself from the boy. "I promise I would try my best to make your parents in heaven smile from seeing his little boy grow up so well and handsome." Woohyun offer his pinky finger to seal the promise with the boy.

Myungsoo giggled as he raises his right hand, intertwining his little pinky with the elder's larger one. "Pinky promise~" They sealed the promise with sealing their thumbs together.

Woohyun couldn't help but to join the giggling boy, the addictive sound of Myungsoo's laugh is enough reason to make him happy. He couldn't wait for the time to come, when he could listen to the delightful sound every day.

"What are the two of you doing outside? Woohyun? Myungsoo? I thought you were already in the playroom with the kids." Dongwoo's confused voice could be heard coming from behind Woohyun, startling both Woohyun and Myungsoo from the sudden interruption.

"Dongwoo hyung!" Woohyun quickly turn over and latch himself to the elder's embrace. He couldn't wait to tell his cousin about the good news. "Hyung, Myungsoo finally accept me! He says okay for the adoption!" He told his cousin excitedly.

"Really?? Whoaa!" Dongwoo's eyes widened in shock, before he let out his signature laughs. "I don't know what trick you use for making him like you in only one-week span, but this is great Hyun! I know it, he was mean to be for you and Gyu hyung!"

Dongwoo was grinning so wide when he part with Woohyun. "Does Sunggyu hyung know about this too?" When he got a quick shake of head from the younger as the answer, Dongwoo then continue.

"You should tell him about it then. I'll try to contact the social worker and help you two with the legal papers, hopefully we could finish all the adoption process in a week." The elder pat his younger cousin's shoulder. "I'm really happy for you, Woohyun-ah."

Woohyun could only nod along in excitement and hug the elder briefly, happy because he knows Dongwoo would really do his best to help him and Sunggyu with this despite he had to take care of Bora's adoption paper too. He was so glad to have the elder as his cousin.

"Okay, now that I got more works to do, I should start calling the social worker quickly to arrange the schedule for them to meet both of you. But for now, why don't the two of you go back to the play room first? You could message Gyu hyung after that, Hyun." Dongwoo suggest.

"Oh, right. Myungie, should we head back to the other kids now? They must be worried because you went missing earlier." Woohyun faced Myungsoo's direction and watch the little boy quickly get off from the swing.

"Eung! Myung promise to play robot fight with Seungminie earlier. He would sulk if Myung forgot the promise." Myungsoo had a big smile on his face, dimples on full display.

When Woohyun face his cousin once again, the elder had a confused look on his face, as if curious at the sudden endearment. He shrugs. "Later, Dongwoo hyung. For now, I'll accompany Myungsoo to the play room first. And once again, thank you."

After that, Woohyun and Myungsoo headed to the playroom, hand in hand. True to his prediction, the kids were calmly playing around. Bora is really an older sister material, she was watching over the other kids in silent with a fond smile on his face when Woohyun come in. It's a really endearing sight and he would surely miss her a lot after her adoption finalized later.

Myungsoo was surrounded by the other boys in instant as they were worried for the little boy's whereabouts and red eyes. They even offer their favorite toys to him, to cheer him up because they thought Myungsoo was feeling lonely again.

They are such a kind kids and Woohyun feel proud somehow that Dongwoo raised them so well during this short time. He feels that whoever their future adoptive parents would be so lucky to have their new family member from here. All the boys and girls here are well mannered and so likeable after all.

Woohyun gathered the kids and tell them they would reenact the drama scene from a fairytale story for tomorrow schedule, so the kids were left to form two groups and discussing what they want to perform tomorrow.

He sends a short message to Sunggyu with saying he got good news for him tonight, while the children were busy with choosing the books provided in the room. Woohyun didn't have time to check the reply from his husband as the kids stole his attention in the next few hours with suggesting a few choices, until Ailee come and join them before lunch.

Dongwoo must've told Ailee about Myungsoo, because the elder was congratulating Woohyun when they had lunch. And to surprise him more, Sunggyu even joined them for the lunch. His husband might have a hunch about the good news and couldn't wait to ask the younger about it.

Sunggyu was so elated to hear the news, he couldn't help but to spin him around and squish the younger in his hold, peppering his face with kisses. Embarrassing Woohyun in front of his cousin and his wife, whom only chuckle seeing Sunggyu's behavior.

Thankfully Dongwoo had sent the kids to the backyard first in the promise of having a friendly basketball match later. Or else, Woohyun would feel the need to bury himself deep into the ground from the embarrassment.

Sunggyu sadly couldn't join their basketball match because the unavoidable work at his office that can't be postponed, but he could take the day off tomorrow and watch the kid’s drama play. So, with a quick peck on Woohyun's lips and a promise to see him over dinner, Sunggyu take his leave.

For the next few hours after lunch, the kids were happily playing basketball with Dongwoo joined the boys team versus the girls' team and Woohyun offers himself as a referee. The result was predictable as the girls’ squad won the match, with Dongwoo busy laughing and the boys who had zero coordination. But they all happy and that's what mattered.

Sunggyu pick Woohyun up at six and surprised Myungsoo with a hug and a pat on his head before they head home, while Woohyun left a peck on the little boy's flushed cheeks. He was grinning when shy Myungsoo bid them goodbye with a hushed 'bye appa, bye dad'.

The couple wants to celebrate the great news amongst themselves tonight and call their parents to relay the news. So, they went to the grocery store first to buy the ingredients needed for cooking their dinner and had a great dinner with steak (Sunggyu’s request) and a good quality wine (since they wouldn't drink alcohol that often when Myungsoo come later).

After dinner, they take turn to call their respective parents. Both of their parents were so happy to hear the adoption news, they couldn’t wait to see little Myungsoo to come visit them later. They’ve heard about the boy from Woohyun when they call him earlier that week and even though they haven’t meet him themselves, they trust the couple’s judgement and really anticipated to finally meet Myungsoo.

The couple spent the rest of the night cuddling on the bed after they both finished cleaning the dishes, limbs tangled with each other’s. Woohyun had his head on top of Sunggyu's chest, listening to the elder's heartbeat that slowly lulled him, while Sunggyu's left hand his hair softly.

The younger was half-hugging his husband when he remembers something. He looks up a bit. “Gyu, you need to stop doing that to Myungsoo.”

Sunggyu look down to meet his husband’s accusing eyes, didn’t really understand what the younger accuse him of. “What? What did I do this time?” He was utterly clueless.

“He told me earlier at Dongwoo hyung’s place. Stop eating the vegies for him and stop giving him your portion of meat. It’s not healthy, he need nutrients from vegies too for growing up.” Woohyun pouted as he explained further.

Sunggyu went from being puzzled to laughing out loud when he finally understood the problem. He cups the younger’s cheeks and kiss the pouting lips instead. “What is it? Why did you act like his mom already? Hmm?” Sunggyu  further.

Woohyun whined to protest the unwanted (lies) kiss, although he could feel his cheeks growing warm from the teasing. He detached himself from his lover’s embrace. “Stop changing the subject, hyung!”

Sunggyu let out a chuckle. He could see it already, a pinkish shade forming on his dear husband’s chubby cheeks. He really wants to bite the plump cheeks, but he knows he would get a cold shoulder in the morning if he does that. Woohyun was sensitive with him biting the younger in the place where others could see it, so he had to bury his plan down.

“Okay, okay. I wouldn’t do it anymore, mom.” He snickers. Still won’t tone down the teasing though. But he let out a yelp in the next second, because Woohyun hit him on his arm.

“Try to call me mom once again.” Woohyun dare the elder with a (too cute) serious face on. He huffed, lips once again forming a pout. “Anyway, we should buy necessary things for our Myungsoo’s bedroom soon, hyung.”

That reminds them that they didn’t have anything prepared for the newest addition to their family yet. The couple had a spare room and thankfully keeps it clean since they move to the house two years ago, but it was bare from anything. They need to prepare a lot of things to make it a decent bedroom.

Sunggyu seems to contemplating something. “Right.. Do you think Dongwoo would allow us to bring Myungsoo to pick his own bed and other stuffs, Hyun? I think it was better than us pick them for him.”

“I don’t know hyung. But maybe we could try? I agree that letting him picking his own stuff is better, he would feel more at home that way.” Woohyun smile at his husband’s thoughtful suggestion.

“Okay then, we will ask him tomorrow. For now, let’s sleep. You’ll need your full energy tomorrow to face the kids again.” Sunggyu chuckled. “Good night, baby.” The elder kissed both of Woohyun’s forehead and lips, before hugging him closer to let the younger’s head settled on the crook of his neck.

“Goodnight, Gyu.” Woohyun replied while holding his yawn, he did drain his energy with all the events happened today. He snuggles closer to his husband’s warm body and left a peck on the mole near the other’s collarbone. He was out in a mere five minutes after that.

Sunggyu smile fondly at the sleepy puppy and kiss the younger’s crown. He adjusts the duvet covering both of their bodies and closes his eyes to welcome the sleep.

The week went by so fast after that. With Dongwoo handling the legal documents for Myungsoo’s adoption, both Woohyun and Sunggyu juggling with shopping the necessity for the little boy’s bedroom (thankfully Dongwoo let Myungsoo went with them for the shopping) and still coming to help in the orphanage, then meeting with the social worker to survey their house and its neighborhood if it was suitable for taking care of a kid or not.

True to his word, by the end of the next week, all the legal papers are ready to be signed. All thanks to Dongwoo’s hard work. The couple couldn’t be any happier to sign the documents after getting a green light from the social worker’s survey.

So, finally on Wednesday afternoon, Sunggyu already packed Myungsoo’s bags full of clothes and toys into the trunk of his car. Both him and Woohyun hug Dongwoo and Ailee to express their gratitude for the wonderful couple once again. They didn’t forget to give Myungsoo a time to properly say goodbye to the other kids in the orphanage, with a promise to visit them again often to play together.

Woohyun was a bit surprise on how well the other kids take the news about Myungsoo being adopted by them, not even an ounce of jealousy could be sensed with how warm they bid their goodbye to Myungsoo. Children are surely pure and genuine with wishing the other’s happiness.

The kids were only sad over the thought that they wouldn’t meet with Myungsoo often on school holiday. However, since Myungsoo still would attend the same school as them, it’s not really a problem. Only Seungmin, his same-age friend, who would feel a bit lonely, since his robot sparring partner would be gone. But Myungsoo assured him that he would play with him a lot at school during their break.

So, with the orphanage residents bid their goodbye and waved towards them, the couple together with Myungsoo walks hand in hand leaving the place. To their new chapter of life.
