Chapter 7
Variety RoyaltyIt was a rainy weekday mid-morning, so the café near JYP Center Jackson found himself sitting in wasn’t very busy. The Hong Kong native found himself looking for recognition though, as he tried to make eye contact with the people walking on the street. Everyone was too occupied with avoiding the rain and getting to their destination to notice the Kpop idol, and he was too wrapped up in his little game to notice someone creeping up on him.
“You’re attention ,” a voice said, causing Jackson to jump slightly in his chair and turn around as the person’s hands went on top of his head.
“Yah!” he exclaimed, “Kkam-ja-gi-ya!” Hey! You scared me!
Paula chuckled. “Couldn’t help it hon,” she said, a big smile on her face as she pulled him in for a hug.
When GOT7 initially met her, Paula was still getting used to the Korean way of life. Mark, Jackson, and Bambam could relate, but since Bambam wasn’t so comfortable speaking English, Mark and Jackson befriended her quickly. Well, Jackson more than Mark too, since Mark didn’t talk. But Paula had family in the Los Angeles area so they found some things to talk about.
Jackson and Paula ended out hanging out quite a bit after their first meeting, since he could help her with the Korean speaking part of being places, eating lunch together or driving to neighboring cities to sightsee, getting to know each other more. She told him she liked hanging out with him on a daily basis more than even the 2PM guys because she had a younger sister his age.
“I think I’m just more comfortable with people my age and younger,” she tried to explain, shrugging.
Not that he minded, he enjoyed hanging out with her too. She had a mom feel to him, and she wasn’t too offended when he told her so. She was also one of the few people he knew who gave really good hugs, and who was willing to give hugs.
“If you ever feel homesick or if you need to talk to someone, call me,” she told him once, “I’m not kidding, I’ll answer at three in the morning. Unless you’re drunk, then I’ll just hang up…And then call you back because I’d feel guilty.”
She silently told him to wait a minute after pulling away from their hug in the café and ordered drinks for the two of them before settling down into the seat next to him.
“So,” she said, “How are all the boys doing?”
“Good,” Jackson replied, “Keeping busy.”
“You doing good too?”
“Yeeah…” he hesitated.
She gave him a side-glance.
“I…have a bit of a problem,” he said.
“With your members?” she asked excitedly, “With JYP? With someone else in th—”
“Yah,” he interjected, “Stop jumping to conclusions and let me finish!”
She chuckled once again. “You’re easy to bug,” she teased.
Jackson sighed, wondering how he should go out about saying the next part.
“Do you know of a Jayhee Lee?” he finally asked.
“Yes.”
“What?”
“Yes,” she said again, nodding contemplatively, “I know Jaye. I met her at M! Countdown…Or was it Myu Bank…One or the other, I can’t remember. All of these music shows blend together for me…I think she was guest MCing…
“Why? Do you want me to introduce you to her?” she asked, giving him a playful wink and a couple nudges.
“Ew no!” he exclaimed.
“Fine,” Paula said, surprised by his reaction, waiting for him to continue when she heard their drinks being call
