Steal My Heart 《정철》

Description

Yoon Jeonghan is tasked to steal something precious from Choi Seungcheol- but what if he steals Seungcheol's heart instead?

Foreword

Jeonghan's smile was replaced with a pout as he walked inside the principal's office, not meeting the judging eyes of the secretary who busily typed away in her laptop, nor even the janitor who was looking at him with squinty eyes.

The boy paused for a while when the janitor spoke.

"Are you a boy or a girl?"

"I am both." Jeonghan replied, which caused the janitor's eyes to squint more in confusion and the secretary's attention to divert to him.

He mentally laughed and patted himself for creating a good joke. Just because he has über long and beautiful hair, hair straighter and silkier than most girls, means that he is one of them.

"What do you expect? I'm wearing a boy's uniform, therefore I'm a boy." Jeonghan stuck his tongue out at the creepy janitor who was secretly checking him out.

The secretary put her nail art covered hands over . "Kids these days." She tsked. "You are Yoon Jeonghan, right?"

Jeonghan nodded with a confident smile.

"What are you smiling for? You're about to be kicked out from school, young lad."

"WHAT?!" Jeonghan erupted, entangling his fingers through his long, silvery hair. He didn't expect that coming.

The creepy janitor just chuckled and went away to mop more floors.

"Why are you here, then? You won't be called here for no reason at all." The secretary soon picked up a nail file and started running her red fiery nails over it.

"No, but I was expecting good news to come. Like maybe I was elected to be the new student council president?"

"Are you joking? You can't even manage your grades and you think you can manage the whole student government?"

"Well, is it bad to think of it that way?"

"Ugh. I hate talking to kids. Just talk to the principal yourself." The secretary pointed one finger to the scary white door over there, and Jeonghan swore he wanted to break the secretary's nails so badly.

"Fine." He huffed and then sassily walked up to the door.

"Come in." The principal's melodious voice was heard through the door, and not as terrifying as it may seem, the principal was not the strictest one around and Jeonghan was slightly thankful for that.

"Good afternoon, Principal Joonmyeon." Jeonghan greeted the pale guy sitting behind a big, important-looking desk.

"Good afternoon, Yoon Jeonghan."

Uh-oh. Jeonghan thought. Addressing by full names is certainly a bad omen.

"And also, you forgot to greet Mr. Choi here." Joonmyeon motioned for a  raven-haired guy to come forward, as if he was lurking in the dark.

Mr. Choi? Jeonghan racked his mind for that surname. Sure, he has met many Mr. Chois in his life, but the question is, which one of them?

The raven guy stood straight-faced, towering over Jeonghan by a few inches. He didn't speak a word, so it was Jeonghan who initiated the conversation.

"Uhm, hi?" He nervously greeted. It was the first time he had met this particular Mr. Choi, all dressed up in standard uniform, and his heart and mind raced at the possibility of having this eery, pokerfaced guy as his new classmate.

Meanwhile, the boy didn't even say anything. He completely ignored Jeonghan and took his seat beside the principal.

Jeonghan felt a little hurt. It was the first time someone had actually snobbed him, and since he was used to being around people, being noticed because he is literally a social butterfly, a new feeling of sadness washed over him.

Well, maybe this guy is new and he's just shy. And why is he here with the principal anyway? And in the middle of Jeonghan's personal conference?

"I reckon you don't know each other." Principal Joonmyeon facepalmed. "Too bad you're gonna spend a lot of time with each other so start introducing yourselves now."

"WHAT?!" Jeonghan repeated, his eyes appeared to get bigger and bigger and his hands automatically locking through his hair.

The guy didn't even flinch at the bad news. It seems like he already knew what this conference is all about, which made Jeonghan feel a little jealous and insecure. He just wore this smug smirk on his face, and Jeonghan wanted to wipe it off as soon as he could. But not in front of the principal, of course.

"Yoon Jeonghan, your grades have been diminishing and your usual averages have been lower this quarter. You are about to get kicked out without immediate action." Principal Joonmyeon told the long-haired boy. Then he faced the mysterious Mr. Choi.

"And as for you, you've been here in school for more than a year. Your grades are over excellent; I commend you for that, but your attendance and tardiness are totally an eyesore. Let's see, you have 37 absences and 29 tardy slips. You are also about to get kicked out from this school, without immediate action."

The boy nonchalantly looked at the wall clock in the office, as if hypnotizing it to tick faster and let time pass so he can finally leave this room.

Jeonghan almost reprimanded the boy for having such a stoic, cold, and careless attitude, but he remained calm and collected as he listened to Principal Joonmyeon's spiel.

"Yoon Jeonghan." He called out the boy's name in a strict tone, and the latter immediately stood up straight at the mention of his name. "You will ensure that Mr. Choi regularly and punctually attends school from now on. We cannot miss a potential candidate for the position of valedictorian."

"Choi Seungcheol." Principal Joonmyeon snapped and almost went out of character when he found out that the guy wasn't listening to him at all. "You will tutor Yoon Jeonghan until his grades finally skyrocket.

"That's why the two of you are gonna be dorm mates now, so you can monitor each other's performances at academic subjects and  attendance."

Jeonghan and Seungcheol blankly looked at each other, and the younger's heart 'accidentally' stopped when Seungcheol spoke and smiled  for the first time.

"I will do my very best to help you, Jeonghan."
