despite junsu's short height, one can't deny how gorgeous he is. some could say that the gorgeous genes just run in his family (look at his sister, for an example), but he wouldn't really consider himself gorgeous, truly. it's false, considering that most of his visuals are false.
yeah, he won't deny if one brought it up. a little work on his nose, jawline, and lips, even double eyelid surgery...he can finally hold himself up with most visuals today though it eats him up on the inside to know that he stooped to that level.
junsu has a total of nine tattoos in total.
► left side of neck -- a saying that junsu lives by, it's one of the tattoos he got after getting into underground rap.
► right collarbone -- it's a simple little heart that some people mistake for a mole a lot of times. it's really simple, but with lots of symbolism. junsu goes with the symbolism of loving one's self which is something that junsu sometimes has a problem remembering.
► right ribcage -- another saying that is written in tiny lettering. he got the tattoo after he found himself entering the idol world once more, right after star empire accepted him.
► left middle finger -- a small cross hidden by his fingers and is usually also hidden by rings. it symbolizes his strength to carry on doing music despite all that he was put through in sm.
► inner left ring finger -- a simple me tattoo that also helps to remind him that he needs to believe in himself.
► left wrist -- friendship tattoos he got with miley and mikey. they all joked around and called each other dinosaurs so one night they got drunk and thought about getting friendship tattoos of little dinosaurs...and they did it.
► inner left arm -- junsu went through a lot of ups and downs when he got into underground rap where he continued to learn, hence where the saying of this tattoo comes from.
► inner right arm -- circles are known to many different meanings and what do junsu's mean? ah, nothing really. he sort of picked them for the aesthetics and he felt like his right arm felt empty.
► right foot -- a little dandelion tattoo, it's actually his first tattoo. it was a design that miley picked out and despite it's femininity, junsu liked the possible meaning of rebirth, which was him getting into underground rap.
as for piercings, his ears are pierced the same as his faceclaim and has a simple loop piercing on left side of his nose. he will take out if a stylist asks, but he really likes his nose piercing, so he may be a bit more stubborn on taking it out.

bad boy asethetic. give him blacks of all shades, big hoodles that hide his insecurities, skinny jeans tight against him like a second skin, belts and chains. he honestly looks like krock band member than an idol or rapper.

► irene's little brother -- oh how much he loathes this nickname. it was all the other trainees at sm would call him as soon as red velvet debuted. it was never junsu, it was always irene's little brother. it continues to follow him, haunting him.
► plastic monster -- this is mainly a nickname that anti-fans came out the moment dal media releases his profile. junsu has had a couple of surgeries (especially since the last time he was on high school rapper) and it's definitely a sore spot. he doesn't have regrets getting them, but it's the story of how he got them that hurts him the most. this name really pisses him off and junsu isn't afraid of throwing his phone if he reads comments calling him this.
► angry man -- it's a term that originally came from his time on high school rapper. everyone with eyes could see he was entirely made up of anger, could see it practically vibrating out of every pore on his body. everyone can tell junsu is just an angry little man.
► shortstack -- a nickname penned by johnny. yes, the johnny from nct. junsu was certainly not blessed in the height department and johnny is the only one that has 'insulted' his small height and continues to live to this day. if anyone tries to call him this, you have a death wish.

bae junsu is a lot of things. most stick with the usual 'small, angry man', but they never stop to ask 'why? why does he act the way he does?' if one stops, they will learn that junsu has a lot of layers to himself.
everyone knows bae junsu practically oozes charisma. eyes tend to follow him everywhere he goes. his aura compels others to follow him, whether it be in his walk, his performance, or the way his speaks. it's like his whole being forces one to look at him. some think it has to do with his confidence. he holds himself in high regards, knows he can do it and get what he wants. he goes for what he wants, assertive in that sense. and he's very hardworking. all the skills he has is from his hardwork and hardwork alone. he's a quick learner and doesn't stop until he gets everything right which coincides with his neverending determination. once he has his eyes set on a goal, he will not stop until he reaches it. he's resilient and will not stop until he succeeds.
probably due to his charisma and overflowing confidence, junsu can be seen as quite the drama queen. he sometimes explodes with certain emotions (most of the time with anger or smugness). he can be seen as also childish as he overreacts. it tends to get excessive when he gets into his competitive streak and oh boy, is junsu competitive. once one says 'i bet-', he is on his feet and ready to compete. what's even worse is that he's definitely a sore loser, complaining when he loses.
junsu is definitely impulsive. he tends to act without thinking, acting purely on emotions. it definitely tends put people off or not hesitate to retaliate when he gets into his 'explosive' modes. junsu is also one of the most stubborn people you could meet. extremely bull-headed and headstrong, it take a lot for someone to go up to him and get him to change his mind. he likes to ride on 'my way or the highway', another thing that puts people off. he talks very roughly and harsh, causing him to seem very insensitive and heartless to others. he doesn't see the need to talk 'soft' or 'gentle' when he can just get to the point, saving everyone's time. the one thing that finishes junsu off as a person is his vengeful nature. it goes beyond being a sore loser, when one wrongs junsu, he aims to fix what has wronged him and he doesn't care how or what he does to fix it. his vengeful-ness can cause him to be difficult to work with time to time, but maybe with the right motivation and the right person, he can work over it...
BACKGROUND
compared to most people, junsu's has a pretty normal life. growing up in a household with an older sister, junsu had everything pretty set.
that was until his sister joohyun left the house in her third year of high school, heading off to seoul to become a performer. junsu was only ten years old at the time, but he remembers it clearly despite never having a close enough relationship with his sister, especially since their was seven years between them.
a year later, the family was given news. his sister was accepted into sm entertainment. yeah, his sister in sm? that was amazing. it was all the talk around him at school.
"wow we knew your sister was pretty, of course she'd be accepted into sm!"
it was all he heard and continued to hear for years.
junsu is fourteen when he himself convinces his parents to let him join his sister at sm. it takes a lot of convincing, but junsu has his ways. his parents were definitely worried, never knew he had a wish to follow his sister in the path of being an idol, but they didn't want to say no. it takes a few tries, but just like his sister, he passes one of sm's open auditions for his surprising talent in rapping.
he took his first steps as sm trainee which was became the start of his turbalent path as an idol.
LIKES
► alcohol -- just to be on the safe side, junsu is not an alcoholic! though he cannot deny that he just loves the burning taste of alcohol, but he knows when to not get total wasted and drinks in moderation.

► taekwondo -- one talent that's pretty on brand with junsu is that...he knows taekwondo. he was pretty skilled once upon a time, taking up the sport all the way until he became an sm trainee. it wasn't until he became a underground rapper did he pick it back up. it's what keeps him in shape (and to scare people away from him, really).
► diss raps -- yeah, it's not a surprise that junsu is good as diss raps. he's good at being insensitive and using information against people.

► piano -- he's not a master at the piano and it's been so long since he's truly played, but he knows enough to play pretty melodies before it's used to help him in producing.

► once junsu was free from sm's clutches, he instantly opened up an insta under the username ogbxejunsx. his account stayed empty for a few weeks, but began to fill up with pictures when he found friends in the underground rap scene. his instagram was a bit of a subject with people who kept up with junsu as most of his posts were a bit controversial with drinking and partying. once he became a trainee under dal media, his account went inactive and was eventually deleted.

joohyun and junsu have had a very strained relationship since they were young. they have a big that left them with not having many things in common, as junsu wold be a child while joohyun was thinking of possible future careers. pretty muchm it boil down to their surroundings. junsu, being so much younger than his perfect sister, grew up always hearing how wonderful she was, how she'd get work done so fast, her pretty visuals, etc. naby wanted to be his friend just to get closer to his sister. joohyun was simply never there for junsu when he thought she should, but maybe it was his fault for never reaching out until it was too late.
what really broke the camel's back was the encounter in sm, his breakdown to his sister that resulted in any kind of respect to her to crumble as he succumbed to the harsh whispers of his environment. he closed off, became quicker to anger. no amount of begging from his parents could stop him from deleting and blocking her number from his contacts. their parents have grown used to not speaking of their daughter in his presence, but they are growing tired of this hole in their family.
one would look at this trainwreck of a relationship and say there's no way of saving it. or an optimistic would say the opposite, that there is a way! either way, there's one thing that rings true.
junsu is tired of running after his sister. if there's any chance of fixing this relationship, he's not taking the first step by himself.

ah, yes. neo culture technology, the boy group that would either make it or break it in the kpop scene. junsu remembers dreaming that he would be selected, to be one of the possible many members of the project. the other boys, training day and night together. the endless nights of staying up, talking about their dreams and worries. of course, he was also repeatedly reminded only the top talented or visually pleasing would make it. despite giving his best performances and even agreeing to go under the knife he was still cut from the program and replaced.
does he hold a grudge over the other boys? yes. probably. maybe. it's complicated. on one end, yes. he hates seeing them reach fame...without him. it's like all the memories of them hanging out late together at a convenience store, pigging out on ramen despite it bloating their faces the next morning were for naught. on the other end, it's business. it's not like they could do anything against the company, against sm.
he wouldn't badmouth nct, it's more like he would...skirt around them or quickly change the subject whenever they are brought up. the hurt is still on the surface, but maybe one day he'll let it heal.
johnny if junsu had to pick one member of nct he had a strong connection with, it'd have to be johnny. he's the only one that junsu has not blocked, but doesn't mean he text at all (not that johnny minds). johnny was an older sibling of sorts, for not just him, but for the rest of nct. johnny looked after junsu a bit more, especially since he was the only one who truly knew about junsu and his sister's relationship. he was angry when junsu was cut from the project, but he was also in the middle of his own inner turmoil cause it took him a bit longer to reach his own debut. he tried to keep mark away from junsu, especially when he was in his moods, but mark is just your average dumb, annoying little brother and that's just telling a moth to not go towards the light. he sends junsu texts from time to time, mostly memes or dumb pictures of the nct members. he's also not afraid to send voicemails or texts, asking how he's doing, 'vibe checking'.
mark so junsu and mark never really got along even before junsu was cut from the project. mark is a bit dumb, like a little puppy and followed everyone around enough that he'd grate on junsu's nerves a lot of times. junsu would never admit it, but he kind of misses mark's ery. misses his stupid little giggles when he'd get nervous, etc. though he still needs to work through his own trauma before he even tries to rekindle with mark, not after the he put him through on high school rapper.
jaehyun okay, jaehyun is a loaded topic. they were actually good friends back in the day as trainees. he was actually the one who'd reassure junsu whenever the whispers around him would be too much, jaehyun commenting that junsu was fine the way he is. junsu knows, deep down, that jaehyun didn't actually replace him in nct. he knows that, but he can't help his brain think that way. junsu was planned to be added to nct u, but when he was cut from the project, jaehyun was switched out to him. it looked like he was replaced and as such, his brain latched onto that belief. so much like his sister, jaehyun is another taboo topic for him.

the staff
the staff member that he gives attention to is the ceo, moon hyojin. dal media was one of the only few companies that gave him a call back despite all his attitude problems and history. they allowed him a second chance.
he remembers being spoken to by her, to be told that violence against others would not be tolerated. junsu understood, he truly did. which was the reason why he kept mostly a low profile during training. rather not say anything then get in trouble. he listened to her cause he knew better, she was in control. this is her company.
he does respect her and would never speak ill will. she makes things work better around here than things back in sm so why would be or speak ugly about dal media?

rose is dal media's first girl group that debuted before junsu's arrival to the company. he has known about them yes, but would he say he cares about them? truthfully speaking, he'd say no. their music is not his style and as such, he doesn't pay them much mind.
since they debut before he came to the company, he doesn't see them around unless its between their promotions or their gearing up for a comeback...but it's not like he'd approach any of them to talk because he really doesn't care.

twilight, dal media's first coed group that debut about a year after he began training. he did get to train with a couple of them, but it was clear that the company had already chose most of the group, so they were quickly ushered to train together than with the rest of the other trainees.
he's not- listen. junsu is still not okay, so he sees twilight...they are tightknit, like a family and yeah, junsu is a bit jealous. so most of the time he tries to ignore the group, its not like the get chances to hang out since their already debuted, much too busy to hang around the company too long.

things are different. things aren't like it was when he was training under sm with the boys of nct. there were no late night talkings or convience store visits. junsu was alone and he kept it like that.
he didn't want to get close to them. he didn't want what happened back at sm again. didn't want to get too close just to be rejected at the last minute. yeah, yeah, in the end he was chosen, but you never know. he's already been an with most of the members so why change anything now?
now he just wishes certain members could just...stop annoying him.
arin arin is more close with the girls of the group than the guys and as such, he is not close with her. it probably doesn't help that they don't get along very well as arin's scatterbrained tendencies would skyrocket junsu's annoyance easily enough as his snarky attitude would make her insecure. yeah, better to just keep them away from each other as you possibly can.
sangwoo it's not that they don't get along, it's just that sangwoo and junsu's personalities share common points that make them clash. sure, junsu probably won't curse at sangwoo in his presence, but it's not like he's gonna just start conversing with him either.
jechan the unlikely duo that junsu and jechan make. from first glance, one would think these two wouldn't get along. though for some odd reason, they just work. junsu probably could see a resemblance to johnny in some of jechan's meme ways and it brings back memories, good memories. though that doesn't mean junsu goes out of his way to be nice to jechan, nope. but it means jechan knows how to work around it without confronting junsu at his faults. they snark back at each other, but never really fighting. he is the tom to jechan's jerry.
iris they don't get along, at least not for better lack of trying on minju's end, really. she was even nice enough to approach him when he first entered dal media, but honestly junsu took one good look at minju and felt jealousy burn inside of him. she looked like someone who had their together, and she was nice enough to introduce herself to him? maybe it also didn't help that at first glace, she reminded him of joohyun, which again, would not help. after learning about her relation to another idol, a relationship that was easy to see that they definitely got along together just pissed junsu off even more. sure, call him childish, but he can't ing help it when all he has is burning anger inside of him. okay, sure, maybe he also had a tiny bit of a crush on her, because anyone with eyes can see how attractive she is, but we aren't here to talk about his love life thank you.
their relationship has not changed one bit since debut. junsu can't seem to hold his tongue around minju. maybe it has gotten worse, especially since now minju has co-leader in her position and junsu on principle likes to heads with people of authority. junsu knows her words are true, that he needs to hear it, but he's not ready to heal yet so it just brings more fuel to the fire.
despite their rocky relationship, junsu listens to minju more than he does haenim and fans find that hilarious.
haenim haenim is not a bad guy, not in the slightest. maybe junsu even respects him on a level...then why doesn't junsu listen to him? it's a mystery to the members of eclipse as they watch junsu ignores haenim's orders or do completely the opposite of what he asks. thankfully, it has never been overly too dangerous or serious, but junsu sort of sees it as a game in a sense.
also can he, like, stop being tall too? please. give some height to the rest of these short people, thank you.
y2k on principle, junsu hates kwangsu. he's the reason that junsu is only a lead rapper and not main. kwangsu is just more likeable than he is. perhaps it's his punishment, he gets to debut, sure, but not with the position he yearns for. how is he suppose to beat his sister with just a lousy lead rapper position. it eats up at him because, not like he'd ever admit it, but kwangsu is an amazing rapper.
later though (when junsu starts mingling with the group) one thing that for sure pisses junsu is off is how netizens think kwangsu hates the group due to resting face which for sure make no sense because uh hello?? he's right here? the junsu that glares at everyone? netizens are dumb™.
asuka asuka's okay, junsu thinks. it's not that he hates her or anything. they don't clash either except for maybe she's a bit more sociable than he is. she tries to talk to him, but she's not too annoying in that aspect. they can keep light conversations up, but anything more than that junsu just walks away.
hyunjoo oh god, please no. anybody, but her. junsu would rather hang out with kwangsu than her. she's just too...bright. she never shuts up and is overly loud, so any time junsu has to spend large amounts of time in her presence is just a game of resisting the urge to scream at her. he'll give it to her, she's got an amazing set of lungs, but dear god, can she just stop talking for five minutes-
juyeon yoonseok isn't a pain persay, even junsu can't really be mad at him or anything, but how and why. how is he only twenty something, but already so ing tall? while junsu is over here having to pile chairs and to get to stuff on higher shelves. it's not fair.
sono there's not much of a relationship, really. it's obvious that sorano sticks to speaking with mostly other females and that's fine by junsu. he thinks she's stuck up anyways, though she does have a good rap flow anything is better than his sister.
soye dear god. junsu tries not think about the fact that soye is literally ten years younger than he is. ten. years. younger. how is he supposed to act around her? a sibling? how is he supposed to that when he's never had a good role model for that kind of thing? junsu is intermittently scared awkward around soye and prefers to not hang around her too often.

TRAINING BACKGROUND
junsu's training at the esteemed sm entertainment wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
sure, junsu had his relation to his sister and his talent in rapping...but what else did he have to give? he was grilled harshly in vocal and dance classes. mainly due to his sister's placement as a longer trainee, he was held with high expectations so he had to work harder to reach those expectations.
there was one expectation he continued to hear throughout his trainee time.
"your sister is so pretty...while you look so ordinary."
"looks like your sister got the luckier draw of skills and visuals."
"try plastic surgery, you might end up with better placements if you fix that mug of yours and be just as pretty as your sister."
time after time, it was just like when his sister first left to become a performer. it was always his sister and never him.
things got worst when later in the year when his sister was introduced as an smrookie. all he heard constantly was how pretty his sister was, how talented she is, etc. things really took a head when the next year...his sister debuts. yes, the beautiful irene is his older sister.
the next two years were just as painful. not only was junsu hearing the constant belittlement from other trainees and instructors, he was now continuously being compared to his sister. red velvet's irene.
despite being introduced as a smrookie in 2015, he continued to be brought down by everyone despite his growing skills. it all added up to his visuals. it was always his visuals.
desperate for answers, he found himself doing something he had never done before. he runs to his sister, to joohyun, and asks for advice, but ultimately...it's what crushes him the most.
"keep your head down and do what you have to do."
those were not the words junsu wanted to hear. in a rush of emotions, he gets his parents permission and gets worked done, fixes what everyone had told him from the beginning.
but it doesn't help. he doesn't get chosen for nct. he gets pulled from the possible lineup and junsu begins to close off from the rest of the sm trainees.
it's around the end of 2016 when junsu decides that he has had enough.
with the help of his parents, he terminates his contract and kisses sm away, becoming a free man.
a free man with a lot of anger.
junsu turns to underground rap, returning to daegu under a different name. he meets new friends and tries out different avenues. he even begins to write and produce his own tracks. it only makes him happy for a short moment before his bottled up emotions show back up, threatening to overflow.
there's an itch under his skin wanting to be scratched. he yearns for redeement. as he watches his sister gain more and more popular, his revenge to be better than her continues. ultimately, that need to to better overflows from him, causing him to audition for companies once more. he gets a few call backs, most companies being hesitant due to his attitude on high school rapper, but the company he ultimately decides on his dal media in 2019.
junsu mainly kept a low profile in dal media. most trainees left him alone, whether they knew of him previously or not. he didn't care. he came to this company for a reason and that reason was to show the world that he wasn't irene's older brother, but that he was bae junsu. he was mars, and no one would be able to compare him to his sister ever again.
PRE-DEBUT EXP
► sm rookie -- a prior sm trainee and was tentatively introduced as a smrookie before he terminated his contract with sm ent in late 2016.
► hs rapper -- after leaving sm entertainment and finding his footing in the underground world, junsu quickly appeared on high school rapper season one. he stole a bunch of headlines by his name and appearance alone, being simply known as irene's little brother. after that fact, he was mainly known for his headstrong and blunt personality that had a lot of other contestants steering clear of him. he was seen to share beef with nct's mark and another contestant by the name of lee jiheon. he was praised for his rapping skill, but was usually scolded for his personality. he was ultimately eliminated pretty early on for getting too cocky and messed up on a performance.
► ares -- after high school rapper, junsu donned the name (ARES) and began to release music on his soundcloud account. a lot of his raps and music tended to sound more on the angry side.
