Shin Hye and Yong Hwa are seated at the table together with Geun Suk, Hong Ki and some of their friends. Yong Hwa whispered something on Shin Hye’s ear making her laugh and making Geun Suk want to punch him on the face. A blast of music was playing on the background, some customers are dancing on the dance floor in front of the stage while the band was setting up their instruments.

Geun Suk stood up and left the table. He approached the band leader whispering something to him. Shin Hye saw them go to a far corner of the room near the fire exit door. Geun Suk was saying something to him while he was just smiling and nodding at him. After they talked, Geun Suk returned to their table, a secret smile on his lips.

After a few more minutes, the band finished setting up their instruments, the background music stopped playing and the customers returned to their seats. The band leader approached the microphone, testing for the sound.

“Tonight, the band will make way for a friend with a special request. He wants to serenade the lady who owns his heart. Let’s all welcome to the stage our very own Jang Geun Suk!”

There was a loud cheer and a round of applause from the crowd. Geun Suk went up the stage, shook the hand of the leader hooking up the electric guitar on his shoulder and stood in front of the microphone.

“Good evening everyone! This night I ask my friend for a special request, I ask him to allow me to perform in front of you and to serenade the love of my life. You see, I have been stupid before. I was blind to the love she’s offering me and I’ve hurt her in the process. Tonight, I want to beg her forgiveness and show her how much she means to me through the songs I’ll sing for her.” Geun Suk said, and then he looked at Shin Hye. “Shin Hye, I want to say how sorry I am for hurting you before. Believe me when I say that it was not intentional. I love you very much and I hope you’ll open your heart to me once more and give me the chance to prove it to you.”

Geun Suk paused for a few minutes, looking down at the floor, composing himself.

“The first song is entitled ‘Breakeven’ by The Script. This song describes how I felt these past few days, seeing you with another guy. Shin Hye, when you said goodbye to me, my heart didn’t ‘Breakeven!’”

After the last note faded, the crowd erupted in cheers, jumping out of their chairs clapping their hands enthusiastically.

After he sang the song, Geun Suk looked at Shin Hye’s eyes. He let all the love and sincerity show through his eyes. It was as if all the people disappeared and there was only the two of them at the room.
