36: Baekhyun/Sehun

50 Fanfic Prompts (EXO One-Shots)

Prompt: “Extra”

Pairing: Baekhyun/Sehun

Words: ~1200

Baekhyun is a salty piece of work. Sehun scowls at the shorter boy as he gesticulates wildly for his makeup artists to brush whitened powder to the end of his nose, another morose-looking member of his management bringing a plate covered in tropical fruit and exotic cheeses to his table. A bunch of adoring fans stand about a metre to Baekhyun’s left as he sits in his foldup chair, vying for his attention in vain and cooing at how gorgeous his eyeliner looks and how absolutely flawless his skin appears to be. The star complains loudly and angrily about how he needs this or that done before the next take, and Sehun can’t help but roll his eyes as his high-pitched and incessant whining fills the clammy room.

Sehun supposes being a number one chart topper and nationwide sweetheart probably makes a person feel more entitled than they actually deserve to be, but holy heck was Baekhyun taking this self-obsessed diva attitude to the next level.

“Next take in five!” calls the director.

When Sehun signed up to be an extra for his favourite musician’s latest music video, he didn’t really have this experience in mind. Some people say that you shouldn’t meet your heroes because they’ll never be how you expect them to be. Sehun’s inclined to agree, as Baekhyun waves for a little spray bottle of water and a towel to wipe down his neck.

Meanwhile, Sehun’s muscular arms and torso were throbbing and covered with sweat from the repeated dancing he’d been doing for what feels like hours, he and the other dancers forgotten and groaning under the hot spotlights that blind him from above.

Finally, Baekhyun stands and rushes over to the bathroom. Sehun sees his opportunity. As people clamor after the star and wait upon his every word, Sehun stealthily slips across to Baekhyun’s table and steals his water bottle, sitting it besides a bin in the corner of the room. When Baekhyun returns to his throne to be worshipped, he notices his water bottle missing and throws one of the most ridiculous tantrums that Sehun can’t help but snicker under his breath.

“Where the did my water go?” Baekhyun shouts hysterically. “I NEED that water RIGHT NOW!”

A new water bottle is procured from behind a shelving unit and Baekhyun grouches about how no one does anything to compensate his outrageous behaviour. Sehun gets ready for the next take, looping his fingers around the bottom of his sneakers and stretching out his calves. He does a couple quick, high jumps to make sure all his leg muscles are working, and then does a couple arm rotations to loosen up. The director returns to the set and barks out instructions, everyone getting into positions.

Baekhyun is (of course) the last back onto the set, and Sehun wonders just how in the heck he even ever had a crush on the star in the first place. If he’s honest, he half expected the events of a typical fanfiction to happen to him; namely, Baekhyun would see his tall and handsome physique and pick him out to dance in a lead spot, and then notice his gorgeously kissable face and fall instantly in love. They’d go on a couple of dates and Sehun would be the envy of every teenage girl and gay guy in the entirety of South Korea. Then he’d make it big, Baekhyun would continue being fabulous, and they’d live happily ever after in their mansion off the Han River.

After another bought of whiny complaints, the director gets frustrated enough to call cut and go and cool down outside. Sehun stumbles across the room to find an empty chair to sit in, arms and legs slimy with perspiration. He accidentally stumbles into one extremely irate Byun Baekhyun on the way, and receives a grunt from the star. Sehun mumbles and apology as he flops himself down into the chair. Baekhyun sits down next to him, but he barely notices as he finds a wet towel and wipes his face. He also fails to notice the way Baekhyun raises an eyebrow at him, complaints forgotten and interest evident in brown eyes darkened with rings of eyeliner.

Sehun sighs and closes his eyes, waiting quietly for the director to come back and call another take. He half-listens, half-ignores Baekhyun as he orders his posse around, but cracks open an eye when the sound distinctly stops. Baekhyun has apparently left to sign autographs, so they will all have to wait for him for the next ten minutes or so. A couple of the other backup dancers give up entirely and leave the set, but Sehun sees an opportunity.

The water bottle on the table in front of him has a “B” scribbled on the plastic in cursive, and there are marks on the top where chapsticked lips took a sip. Sehun picks it up, tosses it over his shoulder, and grins as he hears a resounding thunk of it hitting the bin. Sehun congratulates himself for his fabulous aim.

“The is my water?” comes the whine again, several seconds later. Sehun hears a shuffle of footsteps behind him, and a famous and familiar face fills his field of vision.

“Oi, hot dancer boy. My water was on this table literally a second ago. Did you see anyone take it?”

Hot?

Sehun would feel flattered if he didn’t already know that he was easy on the eyes, and it wasn’t coming from the same pair of lips that had complained and groaned about literally everything for the past five hours. Sehun decides he might as well up the ante on the one-sided game he is currently playing; attempt to steal Baekhyun’s water even when Baekhyun is in the room.

Several more takes are done, and it’s the most they’ve gotten through since the morning session. Afternoon tea break is called, and Sehun makes his way to the snack table, keeping Baekhyun in the corner of his eye. Baekhyun seems tired, which is a blessing as there’s with far less overt complaining and much more wordless glaring, which is fine by Sehun. Sehun sneaks across the room until he is directly to Baekhyun’s right, before sticking stealthy fingers upon the top of Baekhyun’s third (or was it fourth?) water bottle. Sehun rips it right from under Baekhyun’s nose, and sneaks back to the other side of the room.

“That’s IT!” comes a loud scream from Baekhyun. Sehun quickly drops the bottle to the floor as Baekhyun growls threateningly at his management team. He tosses an angry glance at the backup dancers and stares blankly at Sehun for a few seconds. Sehun believes himself caught, but Baekhyun turns his head once more to management.

“How the do you explain this?” he screeches.

Sehun grins mischievously.
