Chapter Seven

Fear Strikes

Seasons took turn as a year pass by yet Jonghyun's cold treatment towards Kibum didn't falter, not even a bit. Jonghyun would ride with his mother to school when she's on her way to the hospital so that he and Kibum don't need to go together anymore.

Somehow, the thought of Jonghyun not even wanting to be near Kibum made the feline boy hurt. Is he really that messed up?

Now, as the new school year starts, Kibum found himself at another building, eyes staring at the big sign that indicated SMA High School Department.

Blinking beneath his black rimmed eyeglasses, he entered the big building alone. Kibum clutched his books tightly on his chest as he avoids the throng of students filling the busy hallways of the school.

It's the second week since the beginning of classes. He still can't find Woohyun so he made his way to their classroom first.

He maneuvered his way to the left corridor and was about to take the stairs towards the second floor when someone blocked his way.

"Please let me pass.." Kibum silently asked to the brunette blocking his way, the hold on his books tightening when the other lowly chuckled, taunting him.

The brunette slowly made his way to the raven and smirked, "And who are you to order me around?"

Kibum bit his lip, the fact that Jonghyun's behaviour towards him in the school premises change, he knew he can't take it anymore.

Before his tears could fall, Kibum hastily wiped them and bowed at Jonghyun in silent apology before running off, the brunette staring at Kibum's fearful expression.

"Listen here, dirt. You should be happy my family let you stay after your Dad decided to marry another ."

Jonghyun's words keeps on replaying on his mind, tears blurring his vision that's why he didn't notice Woohyun staring at him from a distance.

Woohyun grabbed Kibum's hand and slowly facing him.

"Hey. What's wrong?" The other asked as he wiped Kibum's tear-streaked cheeks, the latter shaking his head negatively.

"You're a bad liar. You know that, right?" The male in question just dropped his head, staring at the ground while his shoulders are shaking due to the suppressed tears.

"Is it Jonghyun again?" Woohyun asked and his assumptions were proven true at the flinch Kibum made at the mention of that name.

Woohyun already know what and who is Kim Jonghyun on his best friend's life but the fact that Jonghyun keeps on hurting Kibum emotionally, he knew he have to do something.

"Wait here..." Woohyun whispered to Kibum, patting his head before running off to find that bastard who dared to make his beat friend cry.

"Yah!" He shouted to the brunette who was with Minho, both males staring at him, one in blank expression, the other with confusion.

The hallways are empty at the moment except for student's who were late for the first bell but Woohyun doesn't care about their first subject right now.

"How dare you treating Kibum like that!" Woohyun exclaimed, voice laced with fury at the male before him who was smirking at his raged state.

"Hey, Woohyun. Stop making a scene. Jonghyun didn't do anything." Minho sided with his best friend, clearly not knowing what happened earlier.

"Stay out of this Minho." Woohyun remarked to the other, knowing Minho is someone he is well acquainted to. "If you do that to Kibum again, you're dead."

"Oops," Jonghyun mocked, casually inserting his hands on his side pocket, "I didn't know the dirt has an irate guard dog."

"You piece of sh-" Before Woohyun could land a punch on Jonghyun's smirking face, a soft hand curling at the back of his uniform stopped him.

"Hyun, come on. Stop it..." Kibum's small voice pulled Woohyun away from punching that bastard who dared to make his friend cry, Kibum snatching a glance at the brunette and saw him staring at Kibum with a cold stare.

"Come on Hyun," Kibum slipped a hand to Woohyun's, "let's just go." He said in a small voice, Woohyun clearly not done yet with the matter at hand.

"But Bum! He treated you as if--"

"Please..." Kibum gripped Woohyun's hands, eyes trained to  the ground while Minho took in the scene before him, he saw Woohyun glaring at Jonghyun one last time before walking out, holding Kibum close to him.

Jonghyun's hands was balled into a fist as his eyes landed at the linked hands of Kibum and Woohyun, not noticing the way his best friend stare at him.

"I told you to stop, didn't I?" Minho broke Jonghyun's train of thoughts of ways on how to kill Woohyun.

"Stop what?" Jonghyun gave a side glance at Minho deciding to take the opposite corridor and heading to the school's rooftop, not caring about skipping classes.

"Come on Jonghyun. I told you already to stop putting this act on." His beat friend exasperated, "The more you push him
