Someone Called Jung

Sincere

“You should live by yourself from now on, and we will find a comfortable place for you to live.”

When her parents said that a few months ago, she thought the place they were talking about was like an apartment or anything resemble with it. But when she arrived at the place today, it looked like a house.

It had a light yellow colour on the wall and two benches on the veranda. The house was really simple and seems comfortable to live. Once she saw it, she could feel a warm side inside the house. Plus, she would had a host family.

“Mom, is it just Ahyoung and I who hired here?” she asked to her mom who was busy with her luggages. She huffed, “Mom, it’s okay, I’ll bring it by myself.”

“Oh- yes, honey? Do you say something?” Mrs.Han turned to her, half panting. Junhee rolled her eyes, “I can handle it by myself.”

Mrs.Nam just shrugged by hearing her words and continued moving her daughter’s luggages from inside their car. Junhee couldn’t help but touched with her caring mom, although sometimes she became naggy.

“Is it just Ahyoung and I who hired here?” Junhee asked once again. She walked towards her mom and lifted her last luggage. Mrs.Nam shook her head, “I heard it was about three until four.”

“Really? It’ll be fun then,” she remarked, but unsure with her own words.

“Ofcourse it is,” her mom smiled warmly. At that time, Mr.Nam came bringing a small bag. He handed it to Junhee, “You almost forgot your laptop, dear.”

She gaped, “Oh my. Thank you, Dad.”

After all her things had moved to her room, her parents went home. Junhee watched them leave from the veranda. When their car has lost from sight, she went inside.

Actually it’s not her longing to live here. But considering that her home was so far from her college, she couldn’t reject her parents order to live here. They said it’s good for her, especially because it could make her grow up.

Junhee took her time to look around the house. It had two floors. On the first floor there are living room, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a kitchen. On the second floor there are four bedrooms and a small balcon. Bedrooms on the first floor were for the owner while bedrooms on the second floor were for rent.

There were so many pictures hanging on the wall. Some pictures were family’s photos and the rest were scenery. On the family’s photos, there are three people. A man, a woman, and a girl. The girl seems still fifth years old, maybe?

After observing the photos, Junhee went to the second floor. She went to balcon to see the scenery of Seoul from there. She leaned on the railing and took a deep breath before a voice interrupted.

“Are you Nam Junhee?” someone called. Junhee turned around and saw a woman walked towards her. She could tell she is the owner. “Yes, I am.” she replied. “Sorry I didn’t do my intro to you, I think you weren’t at home,” she bowed patiently.

“It’s okay, Junhee. I just back from minimarket, no wonder you didn’t meet me.” The woman smiled at her. “By the way, I’m Mrs.Han and just call me auntie.” Mrs.Han held out her hand. Junhee shook her hand and smiled back, “Nice to meet you, auntie.”

“Nice to meet you too, dear. If you were Junhee then Ahyoung must be your friend, right?” she asked.

“Yes, I heard she will come later after buy some things.”

Mrs.Han nodded, “I’ll leave you here then, I have to check if someone’s coming.” She took a few steps, but then stopped. “The unique thing is, all of my lessee this year are from Gwanak University,” she chuckled.

Junhee furrowed her eyebrows, “Really? Have they came already?”

“Nah, you were the tirth.”

The next morning, Junhee and Ahyoung had a breakfast with Han’s. There were Mr and Mrs.Han only. Their daughter was slept over at her grandma’s house.

“Auntie, where’s the other two?” Ahyoung asked in the middle of their breakfast. She came last night while bringing so many foods. No wonder, her parents have a store and they asked Ahyoung to bring almost twelve box of foods for the host family. And she has been success made today’s menu as ‘Foods from Ahyoung’.

“The other two? Ah, one of them has gone and the other is still sleep,” Mrs.Han said.

“Have you seen them?” Ahyoung turned to Junhee who was busy with her food.

“Nope.” She replied. “I was outside until night yesterday to buy books, so I have no time to see them.”

“Go to check him then! He’s still sleep, right?” Ahyoung suggested. Junhee’s face fell, “Are you crazy? He’s sleeping and you told me to disturb him?”

“Why not?”

“That’s impolite, Han Ahyoung.”

“How can that’s impolite?”

“Do you want me to disturb you when you sleep?”

“Ah, you were right.” Ahyoung grinned, “I think he’ll get upset. Don’t do that then.”

Mr.Han shook his head in amusement seeing two girls in front of him. His daughter was still young and didn’t that noisy like the two. He think this house will be more lively with their presence.

“Did you two take the bus?” Mr.Han asked.

“Yes,” both Junhee and Ahyoung replied in unison.

“Be careful and make sure to look after your things. There are so many kind of criminal nowadays,” Mrs.Han added.

“Don’t worry, Auntie. We have a fighter here,” Ahyoung giggled while elbowed Junhee who was sitting beside her. Junhee glared at her, “Yah!”

“Are you really a fighter, Junhee?” Mr.Han asked with raised his eyebrow. Junhee shook her head immediately, “No, Uncle. She just say nosense.”

“But she really is! Back then she was a great fighter, but now she became a shy person.”

“Why?” Mr.Han began to curious. Ahyoung put her serious mimic and continued, “Someone had changed her, Uncle. She has-“

“Seriously, Han Ahyoung?” Junhee cutted her off.

“Ups, sorry.” Ahyoung shut her own mouth. She should hadn't mentioned it.

“I think the other two will protect you girls,” this time Mrs.Han added. “They are boys.”

“Really?! Whoa, I hope they were handsome!” Ahyoung’s eyes brightened. Junhee almost choked down her food by hearing that. She rolled her eyes, this friend was really enthusistic everytime she heard about boys.

“Stop talking and let’s go. We’ll late.”

Junhee sat on the bench before the class started. She didn't realize that her foot was taking her to this place again. The bench she was sat onto yesterday, with the misterious boy. The shady tree above her made the air flew slowly –one more point of Gwanak University that made her comfortable. She reached her backpack and put her hand in to find her phone, but she could felt other thing was inside.

She took out that thing and totally confused when she knew that it was a brochure. Until she remember something. “Ah, it’s about journalistic club.”

She read the brochure and then hummed, should she call the CP?

After debating with herself, she took out her phone and typed the number that written on that paper. She brought her phone nearer to her ear and not long after that, she heard someone spoke.

“Hello?”

Junhee furrowed her eyebrows when she heard a boy voice. “Is it Jung from journalistic club?” she asked hesitantly.

“What? Jung?” a person there sounds suprised. She looked again at the paper, it clearly said ‘Jung’ as contact person.

“Yes, is it Jung?” she repeated her question. But she didn’t get a reply. “The one who gave me this number is a girl but by hearing your voice I think you were boy. I think I’ve called a wrong number. Sorry-“

“Oh, no, no. Yes, I’m... Jung. Did my friend give my number to you?”

“Yes. She told me I have to call you if I want to join journalistic club.”

“Hhh, no wonder she told you that my name is Jung. She want to embarassed me.”

Junhee chuckled by hearing his words, but then she continued, “By the way I want to join your club, what should I do before being member?”

“Um... you can come to journalistic room on Thursday at 2pm, we have a meeting to discuss about new member and new concept for our next magazine.”

“I’ll come if I have no class. Anything else?”

“I think no.”

“Okay, thank you then. Sorry for wasting your time.”

“Noprob, and thanks for joining our club.”

“Your welcome.”

After the conversation ended, Junhee stood up and ready to go to her class. She mend her pace, she couldn’t be late on first period like before.

“Hey, you.”

When she heard someone’s calling, she turned to see a familiar guy stood behind her while smirking. Her mood lifted up immediately after recognizing who it was, “Taehyung!”

Kim Taehyung, her Junior High School’s friend, smiled widely and walked towards her. Junhee couldn’t help but smiled so widely seeing her old friend after a long time.

“Oh my God... how long it has been?”

Taehyung chuckled, “Four years.”

“But hey, I didn’t know you were here too,” Junhee admitted.

“And I know you were here too,” Taehyung giggled. “I saw your name, Miss. Accounting Department, right?”

“Whoa, my stalker.” she laughed. “Let’s sit for a while, we still have some time.” Taehyung suggested, and then both sat on the nearest bench.

“How are you?” Junhee asked.

“I’m pretty fine. See?" Taehyung grinned, revealing his white teeth. "I'm more handsome now, right?" Taehyung chuckled by his own words. Junhee turned to him and she chuckled as well. “You always know how to make me feel better.”

They shared their stories and experiences when they were on Senior High School. They were best friends in Junior High School, but being separated when entered Senior High School. They lost contact after that because they busy with their own business. And know, met up like this made they couldn’t control themself for not spinning a yarn.

Sometimes Junhee laughed out loud when Taehyung told her how many times he was punished, and he confessed that he always made his teachers angry.

“I just like it! They are so cute when they are angry.” Taehyung defended, which made Junhee laughed more. “But with this handsome face, they always forgive me and give me good scores,” he said.

Junhee still laughing but managed to roll her eyes, “Still too confident.”

Both of them were so into their conversation until no one realize that the first period is almost started. Taehyung who realized it first finally spoke, “By the way I have to go to my class. Next time let’s talk again, okay?”

“Oh my God, I’ll late too!” Junhee stood up immediately. “Taehyung, make sure you’ll contact me, okay?” she said before left. She wondered, why she always close with late whenever she meet someone?

Taehyung gave her a thumb up, “Don’t worry.”

“Bye!”

“Eh, Junhee, wait!”

Junhee who stopped and turned to him, “What else?”

“We have a reunion event on weekend, at the coffee shop nearby!” Taehyung told from afar. “You must come, okay?” he added. Junhee who was chased by time gave him a quick nod and left.

Jay walked on the coridor while looking around. She tried to find Junhee right after the bell rang, but that girl was nowhere to be found. She couldn't contact her this whole day and she didn’t know why. She had a good news and no matter what, she must tell Junhee now. No delay.

Jay had found the boy’s name yesterday. She found it out by accident actually –or call it as her planned accident. When she was about to go home, she went to parking lot and saw him in distance. Fortunately, he was alone.

That boy bring so many books on his hand. Jay bumped him from aside and made he dropped his books. How clever she was, right?

She took that chance to look his name on his book. When she about to check his name, he already stood up and quickly walked away even before she could say her apologize. Huh, how cold.

But thank to her recall ability, she still remember a word that written on his books. She didn’t know if it was his surname or his nick, but she was sure that his name is contains with that word.

Jay took out her phone and searched Junhee’s name. When she found it, she tried to call her again.

“Hello?”

Jay sighed in relief when Junhee picked up her call. “Where are you?”

“Nah, I’m on my way to park. Why?”

“I have something to tell you and it’s really important,” she said while once looking around. When she noticed her presence, she walked towards her. “Hey, I saw you there.”

She ended the call and yelled, “Junhee!”

Junhee turned around to see Jay ran like crazy. She waved at her, “Hi.”

“Where the hell are you this whole day?” Jay furrowed her eyebrows, demanding an explanation.

“After first period I should go to library and searched an old accounting’s book there. When I had done, Mr.Tae asked me to help him alloting scholarship’s brochure. And unfortunately right after I had finished my job I met Mr.Woo who ordered me to copied his journal as much as the member of our class. And-”

“Okay, I understand,” Jay cut her off. “There’s one new thing I knew about you. Your speed while talking isn’t controlled.”

Junhee laughed because Jay’s words was right. “What’s the matter?” Junhee asked.

“Nah, I’ve found his name.”

“Who?”

“Huh,” Jay sighed. “That handsome boy.”

Right then she recalled the boy that they had been looking for since yesterday. “Ah, that boy. Who’s his name?”

“Jung.”

“What?!” Junhee jerked when she heard her word. “You say... what?” she asked in disbelief.

“Jung,” Ahyoung repeated. “What’s wrong?”

Junhee tried to calm, but it really surprised her. If Jay’s idol’s name is Jung, and the CP of journalistic club who she had called a few hours ago is also Jung, then...

“It can’t be,” she shook her head. “There are so many people who have Jung’s name.” She mumbled.

“What are you talking about?” Jay raised her eyebrows.

“I’ll tell you after I check this out.”

To ensure that her guess was right, Junhee headed to journalistic room. When she arrived, she entered the room. She the light, and to her surprise, she saw a girl crying.

“Who are you?” she asked. But the girl didn’t answer and still crying.

“Are you okay?” she came close to her and crouched in front of her. The girl was sobbing with her painful voice, but after noticed Junhee’s presence, she looked up. Her eyes was red and there were tears fell down.

“Are you journalistic club’s member?” she asked.

“Yes, I am.” Junhee replied softly. She gave the girl her tissue, “Wipe your tears.”

“Thank you. I’m sorry I used this room for crying. I don’t have any place to go anymore,” she explained.

“It’s okay,” Junhee smiled warmly at her. She let the girl to collect her thoughts and they sat in silence for a while.

“I used to come here if I was in problem,” the girl spoke after she became more calm. “Jung let me use this room whenever I want.”

Junhee stiffened when she mentioned Jung. She forgot about her aim to came here. “Jung?”

The girl nodded, “Yes. He is my friend. Do you know him?”

“I’m not sure if I know him,” Junhee said. “That’s why I’m here to find him.”

“You can’t find him now. His class will begin in four hours.”

Junhee’s face fell, “Four hours? Does he taking afternoon class?”

“He said just for today. Because he has some bussiness to finish,” the girl explained. “Why?”

“I just want to make sure about something, and confirming that I joined journalistic club.”

The girl nodded in response, and then she stood up, ready to left. “By the way, I should back to my class. And, thank you for your tissue.”

“Your welcome,” Junhee smiled.

“Don’t say to anyone that I’m crying here,” she rubbed her neck shyly. “That’s embarassing.” Junhee chuckled, “Ofcourse I won’t. That’s no use anyway.”

The girl smiled and she waved, “Bye.”

“Eh- wait!” Junhee suddenly called. The girl stopped and looked at her questioningly.

“Is Jung... a good boy?” Junhee asked.

The girl blinked with her question. But after that, she smiled meaningfully. “He always is.
