PROLOGUE
The PromiseHis wrinkles creased his forehead as his eyebrows moved closer to each other in a huge frown. His visions were blurred by his own tears. He wiped his sweaty hands together from time to time. His hands felt cold. From fatigue or fear Chanyeol wasn’t sure, probably both. After wiping them, he placed his hands over his large ears to block out the painful voice. But the voice was no match to the pain he felt in his chest. He felt as if his heart was going to break literally.
The weight in his heart lifted a little, only by a little when the nurse came out of the ward and called his name. He stood up unsteadily on his wobbly long legs. He leaned onto the wall for support. He wiped away the tears on the back of his hand to have a better view. Seeing his uneasiness, the nurse stepped forward to offer assistance. She took his arm and helped him to balance himself. With her help, Chanyeol took little steps, dragging his own legs as best as he could. With great patience, the nurse finally led him into the ward where his wife lays.
She gave him a smile when she saw him enter. Fighting the urge not to cry, Chanyeol gave her his best smile and moved towards her. He felt emotions overwhelming him as he thank God for taking care of him, her and everything in his life. The first tear of joy fell from his eyes when he moved closer to his wife whose lying on the hospital bed. She slowly and gently lifted her finger to wipe them away.
