Turn-Off #4 : Your Characters.
kimcheeese's Turn-Offs.#4 : Your Characters.
Creativity is the key here. I don't enjoy reading stories where the protagonist is always the sweet, innocent, little nerd. While the antagonist is the queenka of the school who has a mob of followers. Stories with characters like this gets really annoying. It's also very cliche, I guess you could say. Sure, stories are usually things that lets readers roam off to a different place and squeal in joy from the cuteness, but also try to keep in mind to keep a few things real. No one in this world is a sweet, innocent nerd-- no one. Not even you, or me, or even your parents! The only exceptions are perhaps newborns, they're new to the world and they haven't learned anything yet. Off topic, blaah.
Stating your characters personality traits on your description or foreword, is not okay. I don't want to know how Lee Taemin is the cute seventeen year old who has a crush on his neighbor, Hello Kitty. Obviously that's something you should tell us in the story, not before the story has even begun. It also makes you, the author, seem unprofessional. Seriously, would you read a story that is like this:
(Picture here) IU ~
Eighteen years old.
The smart, cute, and nice girl.
Has a crush on Winnie the Pooh.
Parents died ten years ago in a car accident.
In a love triangle between Winnie the Pooh and Hello Kitty.
Annoying and a waste of time, correct? Don't lie, we all know that those character explaining gets annoying.
