Korean letters and how they sound:

The Korean alphabet consists of 14 consonants and 14 vowels.

Starting with the consonants,

ㄱ- g

ㄴ- n

ㄷ- d

ㄹ- r/l (sounds like a combination of both but mostly like the r)

ㅁ- m

ㅂ- b

ㅅ- s or in some cases sh

ㅇ- o

ㅈ- j

ㅊ- ch

ㅋ- k

ㅌ- t

ㅍ- p

ㅎ- h

Main vowels,

ㅏ- ah

ㅑ- yah

ㅓ- eo (pronounced uh)

ㅕ- yeo

ㅗ- o

ㅛ- yoh

ㅜ- oo

ㅠ- yoo

ㅡ- eu

ㅣ- ee

In Korean, you can combine vowels to make new ones,

ㅔ- e

ㅐ- ae

ㅖ- yeh

ㅒ- yae

Though the ㅔ and ㅐ seem to sound similar, there us a slight variation in the tone. Kind of like the accent is placed differently. Overall, they sound identical I guess.

Now there are some cases in which the consonants can be doubled to emphasize it.

ㅃ- bb (sound like your smacking your lips but without the suction-like noise)

ㅉ- jj

ㄸ- dd

ㄲ- gg

ㅆ- ss or sh

You can never ever ever leave a consonant without a vowel or vice versa or it won't form a word.
