XIX.

The phone rang while she was in bed, awake at eleven in the night, thinking about anything and everything. Luckily she set the volume down low, or she’d have to face questioning later in the morning when her mother woke up.

“Princess?”

“Onew! Do you have any idea what time it is now?”

“Yes, as a matter of fact I do. And why do you still sound awake?”

“Because you woke me up, pabo.”

“Sure that’s the reason.”

“Whatever… Why are you calling again?”

“I don’t know… Just wanted to hear your voice I guess… And I bet you want to hear mine. Anyway, get some sleep soon. I don’t want to see eye bags tomorrow. Good night, princess.”

“Goodnight, Jinki.”

She flung her phone across the bed onto the table. It landed with a pretty loud crash on the table, and fortunately it didn’t wake anyone up. She closed her eyes and thought of Onew’s call again before shutting her eyes, smiling, and falling asleep.

 I want a boy who will call me late at night to make sure his voice is the last I hear for the day.
