Chapter 8

"What the heck was I doing?!" Ryosuke softly said the moment he closed the door.

It wasn't right, this isn't right... Ryosuke thought. He knew he was attracted to Miyu from the first time he laid eyes on her. But he also knew that he can't have any other feelings aside from that mere attraction.

He sighed and looked back at the door that lead to where Miyu was sleeping at the moment.

"Yama-chan!" he was a bit surprised when he heard Chinen's voice calling him.

"Chii..."

"How is she?" Chinen asked.

"Well... I'm not really sure, Chii. She woke up earlier scared and crying. She said something like someone's going to take her..." Ryosuke said not looking at Chinen directly.

"Tsk. Poor Miyu... And what did you do? How's she doing now?"

"She's asleep... I just comforted her a bit and she went back to sleep..."

"Didn't imagine you comforting someone actually..." Chinen voiced, softly laughing.

"Oh, shut it, Chii... So, what did that kid say?" Ryosuke said referring to Kento.

"Well, he covered Miyu's nose and mouth so hard that she fainted..."

"Eh?! So you mean it was actually that kid's fault Miyu's unconscious?! I thought she might be in danger! Geez, that Kento! And I was real worried too!" Ryosuke exclaimed.

"Oooohh. So you were worried about Miyu, huh? That's new... For the guy who believes in hakuna matata."

"Hey... I didn't mean it like that, you know. I was actually worried that I might be in danger, too. If someone was after that chick, then we're gonna be in real trouble, too." he was trying to defend himself, but Chinen knew what his bestfriend was really thinking. Though what he said was actually true, it was just part of the real story.

Chinen smiled yet Ryosuke could see that there was a glint of worry in his eyes.

"Something's up? What's really happening, huh Chii?" he asked his bestfriend who was massaging his nape in a somewhat stressed manner.

"Well... She might be in danger, Ryo."

Ryosuke stared back with a frown. Chinen had better explain things for his mind is really going haywire right now, Ryosuke thought.

"What do you mean?"

"That kid said that she was being followed by a man... Someone with a burnt mark on his arm."

Ryosuke was silent after hearing Chinen's words. He didn't know how to react. He doesn't even know what to think of at the moment. It was crazy, real mind boggling, if you ask him.

Who would have thought that something like this would happen to him. These things, these situations aren't even close to realistic at all! These are what we normally see in movies and dramas, but in the real world? It's not normal. And it shouldn't be happening, especially to him.

"This is crazy... How... How could something like this happen? It's not even... Damn. And what did the old man say?" he asked Chinen about his father, Yamada-sensei.

"Just... Just that we should keep her safe."

"Oh... Right. And your Dad?"

"We'll talk about it later. He's trying to find leads about this... But it's just curious how no one seems to be looking for her, right?"

"Right..." Yeah, there seems to be no news about a missing girl... Ryosuke thought.

Ugh. I am so gonna be late! Damn it!

Ryosuke was running here and there inside his room. He was trying to get ready for school, FAST! It's just 15 minutes before the bell rings and he can't afford to be late again. His father is gonna kill him!

"Ma, I'll be going!" Ryosuke yelled while running down the stairs towards the front door, he was about to go out and leave but stopped when he saw a familiar figure standing by the doorway.

"MIYU!" he suddenly yelped. He knew blood must have rushed to his cheeks remembering what had happened between them yesterday.

"What took you so long?! God, you're such a slowpoke!" She said and started walking ahead. She then stopped when she realized that he wasn't moving at all.

"Oh my gosh..." Miyu walked back towards him and looked at him skeptically. Then her eyes change from annoyance to concern,

"Hey... Are you sick or something? Your face is all red..." her hands suddenly came to touch his forehead, feeling his temperature.

"I... I'm not!" Ryosuke moved away, still his face was scarlet. He ran his hand through his hair and cleared his throat before asking,

"Don't you remember what happened yesterday?" and Miyu just looked at him questioningly.

"Yesterday? Why? Did something happen?"

"You mean you don't remember what happened when we were in the clinic?!" Ryosuke almost scoffed. How can this girl forget that? And to think that he was at his best gentlemanly act right then!

"Really now! We're gonna be late! What happened?! All I remember was waking up in my room. I didn't even know how I got there! I know I was walking to school yesterday but something happened and I ended up waking up right in my room... It was actually confusing but honestly, I don't remember anything other that that."
