TONIGHT

I tapped the passcode of the apartment and opened the door. L. Joe finally gave me the passcode of the house which I am thankful. Maybe he realized that he have to give it to me so that I won’t be bothering to call whoever the person is inside the apartment just for me to get in. I entered the house and made my way to our room. I opened the door when I saw L. Joe sitting on my bed facing Changjo who’s also sitting on his bed facing him.

“Hi.” I greeted them.

“Hey, you’re home.” L. Joe greeted. Changjo just glanced at me and returned his attention on L. Joe. I put my bag on my study table and lay on my bed. I’m tired. I’m always tired. I want to sleep now.

“Now what?” L. Joe said.

“What?” Changjo asked. I looked at them and saw Changjo glanced at me and back at L. Joe. I lay on my front and closed my eyes. I’ll just take a short nap before I take a shower.

“I told you I’m not.” I hear L. Joe said.

“I already warned you.” Changjo replied.

“There’s nothing to warn.” L. Joe raised his voice. How can I take a short nap like this?

“See that’s your problem. You don’t listen to me. You don’t listen to anyone.” This time it’s Changjo who raised his voice.

“I’m listening to you. I wouldn’t be sitting here in front of you if I’m not.”

“No you’re not listening to me. You never listened to me.”

“See it’s you who has a problem here not me.”

“Byunghun, if you don’t want me here then tell me. I’ll pack my things and leave tomorrow morning.”

“Who said I don’t want you here? Look, this conversation isn’t going anywhere.”

“Because you’re so childish.”

“Now I’m childish?” okay this is awkward. They’re arguing and I’m here.

“Byunghun, listen to me. Just stop it.”

“Stop what? You’re overreacting things.”

“I know what I meant here and you know it.”

“See it’s you who doesn’t listen to me.”

“I listen to you. I always do.”

“You always do? I don’t know.”

“Don’t turn your back on me Byunghun!”

“Who gave you the right to shout at me?! I’m older than you!”

“Then act like one!” okay this is really awkward. I think I should leave. They need a moment. I got up and made my way outside the room. I went to the couch and lay down. I think Changjo already confronted L. Joe. But by their conversation, or more like argument, I think there’s something deeper than just the issue of L. Joe and Niel. Whatever it is, I hope they can fix it.

I don’t know how many minutes had passed when L. Joe finally got out of the room. He sat on the couch opposite me.

“You alright?” I asked. He looked at me and rolled his eyes.

“That guy has issues.” He answered. I just looked at him. I don’t know what to say at the moment. “Hey, sorry about that.”

“No, it’s okay.”

“Goodnight.” He said and made his way upstairs. I just looked him. I think both of them have issues.

I went to the kitchen to drink water and made my way to our room. I saw Changjo sitting on his bed and scrolling his phone. I made my way to the bathroom to take a shower. I put on my pajamas and t-shirt and lay down on my bed. I just want to sleep.

“You’re going to sleep now Chunji?”

“Yeah. And I’m older than you, you should call me hyung.”

“Sorry about that.” He apologized.

“And so with L. Joe. He’s older than you too.” He didn’t say a word. I closed my eyes and placed my arm to cover it. The lights are still on.

“We used to be really close.” Changjo murmured. I opened my eyes and looked at him.

“Byunghun and I.” he said looking at me. I was about to scold him because of the absence of the hyung when I saw a glint of sadness in his look. Because I don’t know what to say I just looked at him.

“But when we got into college and he met that Niel, things changed.” He continued. I shifted and lay on my right so that I could face him properly. “I stopped calling him hyung… the moment he stopped being my hyung.” He said and lay on his bed. “Goodnight, hyung.”

I just stared at him facing his back. So what happened earlier is not just about L. Joe and Niel. I thought Changjo is a just disrespectful brat. But by what he confessed a while ago, I don’t know. There’s just one thing I am certain about… I think I hate Niel now.
