Two days. It’s been two days since Himchan had first tried to convince Youngjae to date Daehyun. Two days of Youngjae noticing just how popular Daehyun was with most of the girls.

When he passed the other in the halls he would be surrounded by many of them and although Junhong had said that he seemed annoyed, he couldn’t help but notice that Daehyun gave the girls small laughs and smiles.

If looks could kill than around half of the female population at the school would suddenly have been depleted in the last few days. And half the time Daehyun would be far more than six feet under for causing Youngjae so much stress. He hadn’t had a good night’s sleep since before he met Daehyun.

The first night was because he was still trying to think of how he could have felt so comfortable around the stranger… Also he had wanted to arrive at school early the next day to avoid Himchan; too bad that hadn’t worked out. The last few nights have mostly been Himchan’s fault, for even mentioning the “D” word.

Ever since he had brought it up Youngjae couldn’t help but to think of what could happen if he was the one that Daehyun laughed and smiled at. Those thoughts kept Youngjae up most of the night and far too distracted half the time to wish any harm on Daehyun. But they were also the reason why Youngjae has been so frustrated lately. He really felt that he didn’t have a chance with such an attractive guy who might, or might not, be interested in him (or guys at all, for that matter).

It was for these reasons that Youngjae found himself staring half asleep at the cereals in the cafeteria Thursday morning.

“What are you staring at?”

 It’s an innocent question but just the sound of that accent has put Youngjae on the edge. Because of the owner of this voice, he has been losing his mind this past week. It’s been the cause of his confusion and jealousy-- no not Jealousy, he still refused to call it that.

“Youngjae?”

He refused to give into Daehyun so easily after his last few days having been a living hell. Even if he was still confused for all of the emotions Daehyun made him feel, he knew he was mostly frustrated. Determined, Youngjae continued to ignore Daehyun and stare at the different cereals before him.

Daehyun pouted but continued to stare at Youngjae who seemed very interested at the colorful array of cereals before them both. Becoming very frustrated at the younger’s silence, he carefully moved the blonde’s hair noting how Youngjae flinched at how close he had gotten.

He leaned back a little biting his bottom lip to hide his disappointment at seeing that Youngjae wasn’t wearing any headphones. He had hoped that he had been so he could say that he simply hadn’t heard him instead of confirming his suspicion that Youngjae was just ignoring him.

As Daehyun leaned back, Youngjae let out a small sigh of relief. When he had felt Daehyun lean close he almost squealed, but when Daehyun moved his hair so gently, he almost lost all resolve to stay quiet. He closed his eyes but even then he could still see and feel the other watching him so intently.

“Youngjae” *poke*. “Hey Youngjae, I know you can hear me. Can you please stop ignoring me?”*poke*.

Several pokes later Youngjae finally gave up on ignoring Daehyun…

“What?!? What in the world could you possibly want that would give you the right to poke me so many times? And why would you poke somebody’s cheek???”

Youngjae’s outburst surprised Daehyun so much that he froze mid-poke with wide eyes and mouth slightly open.

“Well Daehyun what? Or were you just trying to get on my nerves some more?”

Youngjae couldn’t help it, he was tired and upset. Daehyun hadn’t talked to him since Monday and yet he’s been in his head all week and it was really starting to get on his nerves. He didn’t want to be stuck hoping that the other would somehow be interested in him instead of any of the girls that followed him around. So he really hoped that Daehyun would leave him alone so that he could stop entertaining the idea of them dating and getting his hopes up for nothing.

Daehyun recovered from his shock and smiled at Youngjae with those lips that demanded Youngjae’s attention.

“Well I had been meaning to talk to you again but haven’t really had the chance until I saw you standing here but you were ignoring me for some reason. And I poked your cheeks ‘cause they’re just so chubby and cute.” To prove his point, he finished his sentence with another poke to a very surprised and red Youngjae.

“My cheeks are not chubby!”

“I didn’t just say chubby I said cute too, just like you with your blonde hair.”

With that comment Youngjae ended up a few shades redder. It wasn’t that he hadn’t heard Daehyun the first time, it was just that he had been trying his hardest to not focus on the “cute” part. Too bad that Daehyun just made it worse for him.

Youngjae had no idea how to react to Daehyun saying he was cute not just once but twice so he tried to look to his right to hide his blushing face from Daehyun who had been at his left.

“Hey Youngjae that’s not fair! I’m trying to have a conversation with your face and I can’t do that if you aren’t looking at me!”

“A conversation with my face? I wonder if the girls at this school would still be interested in you if you talked to them like that.”

“Like how?”

Youngjae let out a small shriek as he felt a poke to his side but before he could even turn to yell at Daehyun, he was already gone.

“Youngjae… look at people when they’re talking to you. And talk how?”

Daehyun had been watching Youngjae and noticed that he was acting differently than when they had talked before. He had picked up on him being a little distant when he realized that he was being ignored even though he didn’t know why. He had hoped that maybe Youngjae was just in a bad mood but he had a feeling that he was the reason why. He had tried to get Youngjae to open up but he only seemed to have made things worse.

 Youngjae took a deep breath before turning slowly to his right where Daehyun was at staring intently back at him.

 “Talking as if they’re only there for your amusement.”

Youngjae winced at his own statement because it was too close to how he felt. He felt as if maybe Daehyun was toying with him, maybe he knew that Youngjae wasn’t interested in girls and he just wanted to see how long until he made a fool of himself.

Daehyun had noticed Youngjae wince at what he said and he had to bite his lip to avoid telling the younger that he wasn’t his amusement. He had a feeling that was why he seemed upset and he didn’t like it. But he could tell that he had to be careful with how he phrased his next question.

“Youngjae did you miss me?”

Both stayed quiet, Youngjae not fully sure if he had heard Daehyun right and Daehyun in shock because that was actually not what he had meant to say.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t really listening. What did you just say?”

It was Daehyun’s chance to not repeat himself but he had a feeling that Youngjae had heard him. Plus he really wanted to know if the other missed him.

“Well the way you’re acting and talking makes it sound like you missed me. So did you?”

He threw in a smirk hoping to not show just how interested he was in the answer.

Youngjae had to remind himself to breathe after Daehyun smirked at him because it suddenly seemed so easy to forget. It didn’t take long for him to realize that yes he did miss the other somehow. The problem was that he wasn’t really sure why and so he had to think for a moment how to answer. He knew that Daehyun had to be joking with his light playful tone or at least that’s how it seemed.

“Daehyun. Has anybody ever told you that you’re annoyingly cocky? I mean you just might be worse than Himchan is and he’s a little princess most of the time.”

For a brief second Daehyun’s face fell before he recovered laughing it off before Youngjae could notice his disappointment.

“I wasn’t trying to be cocky just seemed like maybe you missed me and that’s why you pass me by in the halls and are really snappy this morning is all.”

Youngjae turned sharply to him noting how Daehyun was rubbing the back of his neck with a slight blush on his cheeks. He was debating between thinking that it was rather cute and wanting to strangle Daehyun for noticing him in the halls and not even saying hi or even just acknowledging him.

The glare in Youngjae’s eyes was evident and enough to make Daehyun stop laughing and realize that he really shouldn’t have asked. He wasn’t sure if it was the snappy or miss part but either way he felt worried that maybe he screwed up big with Youngjae. It was easily his worst fear at the moment and what prompted him to act quickly.

“I mean it’s okay if you didn’t miss me or anything I just hoped that you didn’t forget that you said we’d see each other around. I mean yeah we see each other but we haven’t really had a chance to talk and I had been hoping that we’d maybe hangout sometime is all. And it’s okay if you’re cranky this morning because I interrupted you while you were trying to get your breakfast. I understand I get a little upset when people get in the way of me eating.”

Daehyun knew that he was rambling but he just didn’t want Youngjae to be mad at him.

A few seconds of silence was left between the two of them before Youngjae burst into laughter. Daehyun stared at him admiring his face as he shook with laughter barely holding himself up. It wasn’t long before he also broke into a grin.

Youngjae couldn’t help but think that Daehyun’s rambling just might have been the cutest thing the elder had done so far. He quickly got over Daehyun having the audacity to ask if he missed him only because he easily changed into an adorable shy guy so fast.

“Sorry Daehyun guess I am just a little hungry.”

Dae smiled a little bit in understanding and Youngjae couldn’t help but notice his cute eye smile.

“Then can I buy you breakfast tomorrow to say sorry for today? I’d do it today but I have something to do…”

Youngjae blushed at the offer because he hadn’t expected it and thought it was a rather sweet thing to do. He didn’t mind that it’d be tomorrow because it only meant that he’d for sure have a chance to talk to Daehyun.

“Tomorrow’s fine. I have something to do too.”

He really did. Junhong had a test that day in one of his weaker subjects and Youngjae was going to quickly run through it with him that morning while eating a bowl of cereal.

“Great then I’ll see you tomorrow and don’t be late Youngjae.”

Daehyun smiled before walking away with a wave.

Youngjae watched him leave before quickly serving himself a bowl of the closest cereal and leaving. He smiled mischievously to himself as he walked over to the table. He had a plan for tomorrow.

First of all I really want to thank each person who has viewed, subscribed, upvoted, etc because honestly I really wasn't expecting much and when I saw that people were actually interested I felt so thankful and surprised. I hope to not disappoint any of you.

Second of all I apologize if I do disappoint you. I want to apologize ahead of time, I have a very short attention span and that is why it takes me a while to update (in my opinion this felt like two weeks).

Third I did a crappy outline and this might only be six chapters + a possible bonus (just wanted to put that out there to motivate myself mostly)
