Senses.
An Old FriendChunji didn’t want to open his eyes; he was scared of the look that was inevitably going to be traced over the other’s face. The face he could feel to be, at most, an inch away from his own. With his eyes shut tightly, Chunji’s other senses seemed to be enhanced. He clearly heard the waves hitting rocks and the birds calling each other. He smelt the salt in the air and the, now fading, sweet cologne radiating from the blonde. He tasted the residual vanilla flavour from the ice cream on his tongue and the sharp contrast of mint transferred from Byunghun’s lips. He felt the other’s soft breathe pulsating onto his skin and how soft the hair was at the back of Byunghun’s neck as it ran between his fingers.
He allowed a shaky sigh to escape him before he plucked up the courage to peek out through his eyelashes at the other boy only to find Byunghun’s eyes staring back. He had no idea how long he’d been being watched but any amount of time made him feel uncomfortable.
Slowly he slid his hand down from Byunghun’s neck and into his lap and leant back away from the other’s face. He swallowed, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to… it just kind of happ-… I’m really sorry.” Chunji blurted out and dropped his face into his hands. He despaired in his actions of pulling Byunghun closer, now the other was going to hate him and he’d lose his childhood friend forever. I’m such an idiot.
There was no reply and Chunji risked looking up at the blonde. The sun had almost set and the orange glow was turning into a dark blue mist causing Byunghun’s hair to look almost white. He hadn’t moved but he had lowered his eyes to the rock below him and he raised a hand to touch his lips.
“Byunghun?” Chunji sat up and asked softly. “I’m really sorry I understand if you don’t want to see me anymore, I shouldn’t have done that.” Chunji panicked.
Byunghun was too busy inspecting his fingers after touching them to his lips as if expecting there to be something on them causing the tingling feeling. Finally, he pulled his eyes up to meet Chunji’s. “You kissed me.” He stated.
Chunji sighed at hearing him speak and turned his torso to face him slightly, “And I’m really sorry for it.”
A smile began to tug the corners of Byunghun’s mouth, “You really kissed me.” He said, as if trying to convince himself. He let a sweet chuckle leave him mouth.
“You- You’re not mad?” Chunji asked, blinking his wide eyes.
Byunghun now let out a louder laugh. “Why would I be mad?” his eyes twinkling.
“W- well I just thought you didn’t want me to kiss you because you weren’t saying anything and- I don’t know I just want to apologise again for acting like an idiot. I’m sor-“
Chunji was cut off by Byunghun pulling his face towards his and sharing their second kiss. It was a little more insistent than the first but pretty quickly Byunghun pulled back.
“You’re right, you’re an idiot. But I guess I’m more of an idiot than you are.” Byunghun said quietly as he laid his forehead against Chunji’s. The contrasting colours of hair wound into each other as if they belonged there.
“You’re not mad?” Chunji asked, still rather stunned by the situation.
“Pabo…” Byunghun muttered under his br
