Chapter 2

 

 

“Hello Oppa! Taeji and I visited the dentist yesterday.” Taeyeon get straight to the point after her call has been picked up.

 

“Oh really! What happen then?”

 

“She freaked out the last minute! We have no choice but to stop. We don’t want her to be traumatized since she’s still young.”

 

“We?”

 

“Me and the dentist.”

 

“Ah the dentist. Why are you so hyper in telling about the dental trip? Something happened right?” The voice of the guy on the phone suddenly turned in a teasing tone.

 

“What?! No! Nothing happened! Except for Taeji freaking out and crying so load in the clinic! I’m so thankful that we’re the last that afternoon or else I wouldn’t know how to apologize for such ruckus Taeji has done. You should be the one taking her there in the first place! And since you brought this up! I suddenly remember why haven’t you taken her to a dental clinic before?! You should have taken her for checkups and clean ups the moment she got her complete baby molars! Look what had happen she’s afraid of the dentist and the clinic itself.”

 

“Whoa chillax Taengoo! I’m sorry for teasing! No need to vent out your frustration one me for not having to spend more time in the dental clinic or the DENTIST.”

 

“OPPA!”

 

“Hahaha just kidding Taengoo! Sorry I just got busy! And the nanny was the one who help Taeji in her bathroom routine. Sorry.” Taeyeon’s anger subsided after hearing the tone used on the other line.

 

“Fine Oppa! Let’s go together when you’re back. I’m training Jiji for our next visit.”

 

“Thanks Taengoo! I never know what I would do without!”

 

“Eww Oppa stop with the cheesiness! That’s what family does!” Taeyeon said her last words in finality before ending the call. She heaves a sigh after hearing her Oppa’s voice.

 

Taeyeon called out of her small office. “Yoong! I’ll be out to pick Jiji at her daycare. Text me where we would meet for lunch when Yul arrived. Okay?!”

 

“Okay Unnie!”

“Mama!” A high pitch squeal echoes in the daycare’s hallway. Taeyeon open her arms wide to welcome the running girl and scooped her up and then rained kisses into the child’s face that is now squirming in her arms.

 

“Did you have fun at daycare baby?”

 

“Yes Mama! Jiji learned to sing itchi bitschi spider!”

 

“Wow will you sing it for Mama later!”

 

“Hmmm if you buy Jiji ice cream! Then Jiji sing for Mama!” Taeyeon smile widely upon seeing the cute smile of the little girl in her arms.

 

“Hmmm if Jiji would give Mama a kiss first then I’ll buy you an ice cream now and a cake later if you sing!” Upon hearing the magic word Taeyeon’s face was now being rained with tiny kisses from Taeji and then it’s her turn to squirm in laughter.

 

“Let’s go baby Aunty Yul and Aunty Yoong is waiting for us at the mall for lunch.”

 

“Mall!!! Yippee! Mall!!! Ice cream!!! Cake!!!” Taeyeon can’t help but smiled again because of the cute action of Taeji.

“Taeji-ah, Say Annyeong Haseyo Auntie Yul and Auntie Yoong!” Taeji followed her instruct ructions and greeted her Aunt’s with a cute little bow.

 

“Annyeong Taeji-ah! You’re getting good at your greetings!” Yuri’s compliment was answered with a huge grin on the kids face.

 

“Wow daebak! Unnie look at her smile! It’s starting to be like yours!”

 

“Yoong stop exaggerating! Of course to whom will she inherit that cute smile of hers?” Taeyeon slapped the younger girl’s shoulder and gave her the shut up look.

 

Taeyeon sit on the chair in front of her friend the waiter came to their table to ask for their orders and asked if she will need a high chair. Taeyeon politely said yes.

 

“Ji, let’s put your bib. You don’t want to ruin your cute uniform right?”

 

“Yes Mama!” Taeyeon then gently place the bib on Taeji’s neck and let her comfortably sit on her own chair.

 

“Wow I never thought you have a motherly vibe in you Taeng!”

 

“Shut up Yul!”

 

“Unnie can I sit beside Taeji?” Before Taeyeon could even answer Yoona already get up from her chair and move to sit beside Taeji. She just let her because she doesn’t know the girl’s agenda.

 

But as Yoona move from her previous seat Taeyeon’s view has been cleared. She squinted her eyes a little trying to recognize more the image in front of her. Her eyes widened when she saw that she was neither mistaken nor hallucinating. One of the persons that are sitting a couple of table from them is no other than Taeji’s dentist. Tiffany Hwang the gorgeous pink dentist.

“Oh my God!” Taeyeon didn’t know she had said her words out loud.

 

“What is it Taeng?” Yuri who suddenly got curious with her friend sudden reaction turn her head around and look at the direction Taeyeon was looking at.

 

“Do you know those girls?” Yuri innocently asked as she looked again at the now fidgeting Taeyeon.

 

Taeyeon cleared . “Ah Yeah! The girl in the middle was Taeji’s dentist and the youngest one is her assistant, the other girl, I don’t know about her maybe their friend.” Taeyeon tried to speak nonchalantly although deep inside she suddenly felt anxious seeing the young dentist just across their table.

 

“Ah Taeji’s dentist. The one you visited yesterday.” Yuri said in a matter of factly tone. “Then why do you look like you saw your ultimate crush while you’re taking your poop? You’re absolutely on the brink Taeng.” The younger girl mischievously smiled at her friend who look away from the other table and turned her focus back again to the child beside her that is now fighting over french-fries to their other friend.

 

Taeyeon couldn’t help but to steal glances every now and then to the dentist’s table. She couldn’t help but get her attention focused across the table everytime she would hear the group’s cheerful laughter’s. She’s so curious to know what makes the doctor laugh and smile like that.

 

‘I’m right. She has a dazzling smile. The most wonderful and most beautiful I’ve ever seen my whole life!’ Taeyeon mentally told herself.

 

“Mama we now get our ice cream?” Taeyeon’s thought was disrupted when the little girl tug on her arm.

 

“Yes baby since you finished your lunch Mama will buy you ice cream.” Taeyeon smiled at the child as she carefully wipe little smudges of sauce in the child’s cute face.

 

“Yay!”

 

“Unnieee~~~ will you buy Yoongiee some ice cream too?!” Taeyeon and Yuri both cringed at the same time when Yoona suddenly use her aegyo at them.

 

“Gosh Yoona! Stop it! Act your age! Even the three year old child isn’t doing that thing!” Yuri playfully shoves Yoona’s face away.

 

“But Unnieee~~~ I want ice cream tooo~~~” Yoona continued to pout and whine at Yuri.

 

“Come on let’s go Taeji still need her nap time to grow up a healthy kid.” Taeyeon stood up and tried to ignore the whining Yoona and help the real kid to get up on her high chair.

 

“Tae unnie, please buy me ice cream too! I promise I’ll behave the whole afternoon!” Taeyeon couldn’t help but smile at her dongsaeng’s silly antics that she didn’t notice her little girl running towards another group of girls walking out of the restaurant.

The little girl who unknowingly runs away now approaches the three chatting girls. Taeji gently tapped Tiffany’s legs to get the latter’s attention. When Taeji saw that she finally got her target’s attention, the little girl broke into a huge grin showing the startled girl her cute chin dimples.

 

“Hello Pani unnie!” The little girl said as she wave hello.

 

“Oh! Hi! Hey you’re Taeji right?!” Tiffany also gave the kid her sweetest smile and the kid broke into a huge smile again.

 

“Yes! Me me me Taeji!” The little girl giggled and pointed at herself.

 

“Taeji, where’s your Mama are you lost?” Tiffany asked the kid but before the little girl could even answer her a loud shout got her and her friends attention.

 

“Taeji!!!” Taeyeon screamed. “Why did you suddenly run off like that!!! You totally scared me!” Taeyeon was now panting so hard as she kneeled down to pick up the little girl in her arms. The same breathless Yuri and Yoona stood behind her.

 

“Don’t you ever do that again! What would I do if I lost you?!” Taeyeon hug the surprised child in her arms and was now starting to get teary upon seeing Taeyeon’s worried face.

 

“Sorwy Mama! Jiji won’t do it again! Jiji knows running away is bad! Jiji won’t leave you and Daddy too!” The innocence in the child’s voice took Taeyeon by surprise but couldn’t help but wonder what made a child to think like this. ‘Since when did Taeji knows something about running away and leaving?’ Taeyeon just tightly hugged the child and breathe in deep.

 

“Hush baby it’s okay now! Don’t cry! Mama just got worried for a second! But promise not to do that again okay?” Taeyeon gave Taeji an assuring smile and the child gave a kiss in return.

 

Her friends’ eyes were silently looking at the two of them plus the other three set off curious eyes who suddenly witnessed their sudden heartwarming moment. When Taeyeon already felt that they are being watched, her attention to her surrounding came back and finally saw the reason why Taeji suddenly run off like that.

 

“Oh!” Was all she could say.

 

“Hi!” Tiffany greeted her, Taeyeon tried to blink again afraid that she has suddenly fell asleep and was now dreaming. Because she could swear that she felt like dreaming and being in heaven upon seeing the doctor’s smile this close. Everything about the doctor is sparkling. Her eyes and her smile are both blindingly bright that makes her feel fuzzy and warm.

Taeyeon’s heart was hammering loudly under her chest. Her brain was ordering to open up and speak up to answer the greeting but all her words suddenly get caught up on the tip of her tongue.

 

“Doctor Hwang.” Taeyeon stupidly replied when she found the latter looking straight at her while still smiling.

 

“Uhm hi M- Ms. Kim!” Tiffany awkwardly replied when she sense the tense aura that’s coming out from Taeyeon. She contemplated whether to call her Mrs. or Ms. and just decided to use the safer address.

 

“Uhm sorry that Taeji has bothered you and your friends!” Taeyeon apologetically bowed next.

 

“Oh no it’s okay! I should be the one apologizing your daughter almost got lost because she tried to followed me! I’m sorry!” Tiffany bowed back and apologizes too.

 

“No please don’t! No need for you to apologize like that. It’s just that Taeji must have felt excited to see you and followed you. It’s just an accident. Yeah just an accident. And since you didn’t have gotten that far ahead I get to spot Taeji immediately.” Taeyeon tried to reason out as well. Well, she’s more like trying to give herself acceptable reasons than the others. The aftermath of the thought of loosing Taeji is still lingering inside her head and she unknowingly tightens her hold on the child again.

 

“Hey time for ice cream now!” Yuri saw the tense and awkward atmosphere around them and decided to in. “Jiji let’s get your ice cream now!” Yuri took the kid from Taeyeon arms to get her on her own.

 

“Don’t scare us off like that again okay! To whom will I give my delicious cup cakes if you’re not here!” Yuri dramatically pouted at the child in her arms. Taeji smiled and kiss her aunt’s pouted lips.

 

“Sorwy Auntie Yuwree!” The kid cutely said.

 

“Hey ask your friendly doctor to join us for ice cream.” Yuri whispered at Taeji and the latter nods furiously and asked to be put back down.

 

“Unniee~~~ Join us for ice cream! Mama is treating us for ice cream and Auntie Yul will buy Jiji extra scoop!” Tiffany got shock when the little girl suddenly grab her hand and pulled her to walk with Taeyeon and her friend. The kid’s cuteness was too hard to resist and all she could do was to comply.

A high pitch squeal filled the ice cream shop. Taeyeon was smiling widely at the sight of the hyper active Taeji that is pulling Tiffany to the ice cream display.

 

“Ji, calmed down! You’re pulling Doctor Hwang too much come back here!” Taeyeon tried to call the child’s attention but failed miserably.

 

“It’s okay Unnie.” Taeyeon turned her head beside her and saw Tiffany’s assistant.

 

“Uhm sorry! But can I call that? Only if it’s okay!” Seohyun shyly asked.

 

“No no it’s okay you can call me Unnie! And these are my friends Yuri, Kwon Yuri and she’s the same age as me. Feel free to call her unnie too. And Yoona, Im Yoona and she’s our dongsaeng just a year younger though!” Taeyeon smiled as she introduced her friends.

 

“Hi!” Yuri and Yoona greeted the other two.

 

“Hi! Unnies and I’m Seo Juhyun and this is my Unnie Jessica Jung. Unnies are just the same age except for Yoona unnie.” Juhyun did the introducing since she knows how shy her unnie can be at times.

 

“Hi! Nice to meet you all!” The girl named Jessica greeted them back.

 

“Oh really all of us were just the same ages! Let’s be friends then!” Yuri cheerfully said after Juhyun’s introduction.

 

“Taeng, me and the rest of the girls will look for our table you go get our order. Wait what flavor do you girls like?” Yuri turned her attention over at Jessica and Juhyun.

 

“I’ll have pistachio mint flavor Unnie.” Juhyun answered first.

 

“Mine is mocha cookie dough.” Jessica answered next while fishing her wallet from her bag.

 

“No no no! No need Jessica-ssi! It’s Taengoo’s treat!” Yuri waves her hand in front of the other girl.

 

“Err but that’s really err unnecessary?!” Jessica shyly said.

 

“It’s really okay Jessica-ssi! My treat!” Taeyeon smiled.

 

“Come on! Come on! Sica Unnie! Hyunnie! Let’s leave them to order!” Yoona cheerfully pulled Jessica and Juhyun to look for a vacant table while shouting out her new nicknames to them.

“Thank you for the ice cream!” Tiffany smiled at Taeyeon and Taeji first before facing to thank the others too.

 

“It’s nothing!” Taeyeon gave a small smile back at the smiling dentist.

 

“Thanks Unnie! And see you next time at the clinic Jiji!” Juhyun squatted down to pat the kid’s head gently.

 

“We will be going now! Thanks Taeyeon and nice meeting you too! And also Yuri and Yoona! I had a great time earlier!” Jessica winked at the other two which Taeyeon caught and that made her curious.

 

“Bye! Visit unnie at the clinic okay Jiji?!” Tiffany kissed the little girl’s cheek before giving her one last smile.

 

Taeyeon who just watched everything in silence, smiled secretly to herself when she saw how Tiffany has started to like Taeji from the short period of time they had spent while eating ice cream. She was amused at the dentist earlier for being so awkward to a three year old kid but as the minutes pass the latter seemed to loosen up bit by bit before finally relenting to the endless cuteness the little girl is showering only for her. Taeyeon was also amused to what Taeji has showed to Tiffany, the kid barely show or act cute to people she had only met but she had acted all cutesy towards the young dentist.

 

“Bye Unnie! Jiji prawmise to go to your clinic!” The little girl also kisses Tiffany’s cheek back.

 

“Since you sealed it a kiss, unnie will wait for you okay!”

 

“Jiji seal kiss! Hihihi” The little girl just giggled never really understanding what seal means and thought about the animal they saw at the water park before.

 

“Ji, Fany unnie means you can’t break your promise to her or else she will be sad.” Taeyeon bent down to level up with the two.

 

“Ah! Jiji will never break her prawmise unnie! Honest!” The little girl raised her hands and smiled at Tiffany.

 

“I’ll see you okay! Aw I think I’ll gonna miss you!” Tiffany wrapped the little girl in her arms tightly and a small pair of arms also hug her back.

 

“Really got to go now! Bye Baby Jiji!” As Tiffany and her friends started to walk away from Taeyeon’s group. She turned around to try to steal one more glance at the cute mother and daughter pair but suddenly felt saddened when her target has already moved.
