Baekhyun wakes up in Chanyeol’s living room feeling much better than before. He doesn’t remember passing out but he remembers what happened. He remembers every single thing that happened.

Chanyeol.

Chanyeol’s gone.

Baekhyun tried sitting up but something sends stings to his whole body. That’s when he sees that his wound was not yet fully healed. He was puzzled as to why this was happening but before anything else, Yifan appears with Jessica beside her.

Both were looking problematic and Baekhyun couldn’t help but ask them why. The two warlocks looks at each other in the eye and Jessica sighs. Sighing is never a good sign.

 

“Baekhyun, I think you deserve the truth right now.” The witch’s facial expression doesn’t look like she’s about to deliver something good. Baekhyun gulps. Even Yifan’s stare is weird.

 

He knew this is nothing good.

 

And when Yifan opens his mouth, Baekhyun’s world came crumbling down.

The android opens his eyes.

Everything was so familiar to him, like he had seen this place before.

The android blinks his eyes – his metallic eyes again.

Everything doesn’t seem to be right though.

 

 

The android tries to breathe in. It was a weird sensation. The android tries to smell the surroundings. Nothing but metal. The android blinks again. It feels so inhuman. Wait. ‘It’ doesn’t feel anything. It is not human. It is an android – a mere machine with programs and chips for his brain and scraps of metal for his body.

It doesn’t remember anything. It doesn’t know anyone except his creator – his face installed on his brain. It knows a lot of facts about everything but it doesn’t really understand nor feel.

It’s just a machine. What do you expect?

 

“It’s a Killing Artificial Intelligence. It will surely be useful to us.”

“KAI 0114 will be of great help to us during the war.”

“Thanks to his creator, we have an even larger chance of winning.”

“Of course. What would you expect from an AI with a soul of a human? I didn’t know how Taemin managed to do it, but this creature is very wonderful.”

 

The machine hears them talking. They’re on the other side of the room. He hears them.

It tries to run to listen more but he can’t.

Oh, he’s secured on a bed.

 

“Wait, do you know who owns the soul in that AI?”

“Hm, a boy who Taemin brought a few weeks ago. The boy was close to dying that time. I think his name was Kim Jongin.”

 

Kim… Jongin…

 

“What’s so special with that boy? Why use him? He could’ve used a genius or an assassin. Not just an ordinary boy.”

“That Mad Scientist Taemin told the board that the grim reaper didn’t take away the boy’s soul when he’s supposed to be dead. He said the guy will contribute something to history. I don’t know, he’s nuts.”

“Grim reaper? Is he ting me?”

 

Grim Reaper?

The android tilts its head to one side, trying to figure out what they are talking about.

 

Searching Grim reaper…

Grim Reaper is the personification of Death. A skeletal figure wearing a jet black robe and carries a large scythe.

So that’s a Grim reaper.

 

“Have you tried the machine yet?”

“Huh? Not yet. Taemin told me not to touch it. He said no one should turn it on unless the right time comes.”

“Why are you listening to that guy? Let’s try it now and see if it is working.”

 

The android hears a sound. His brain registers it as a sound of keys. The android blinks. The door opens and the scientists jaw drops to the ground.

 

“You said no one is allowed to turn it on.”

“Yes! His battery is not even charged. It’s not even plugged! Look!”

 

 

The android tilts his head again. Looks at the two strangers.

 

The android smiles.

“Truth? What truth?” The warlock asks the man in front of him, eyes filled with so much curiosity that the said man couldn’t help but grin.

 

“As I’ve said before. You chose the wrong company, Park Chanyeol. Do you really think those people around you before truly cares for you? Well, they don’t.”

 

“What do you mean?” The warlock’s voice started becoming grave. He’s so confused. He doesn’t know what to do or what to believe anymore.

 

“They are nothing but frauds. Those warlocks aren’t really trying to teach you how to use and improve your powers, they are trying to limit you because they are afraid of you. That ty vampire prince you consider your friend, he’s actually your greatest enemy, Chanyeol. They know about everything yet they chose not to tell you.”

 

“I don’t understand. Why would they be afraid of me? And why is Baekhyun my greatest enemy? I don’t get it.”

The man taps his fingers on the table as he looks at Chanyeol straight in the eye.

 

“You are destined to do something great. They haven’t told you that, right? Well, you should believe me. I know the truth. You are destined to remove the evil from this world.” Chanyeol shakes his head in confusion. There are too many thoughts on his head and he couldn’t fathom how much his brain hurts because of everything.

 

“Believe me. Your life became so messed up when you let that vampire prince inside your home and your life. Your previous life – one so simple and normal – can’t be returned to you anymore. You lost a friend because of him, and the other is not well. He may be scarred for life.” Chanyeol meets the man’s eyes and he’s sure he saw a spark of red in his eyes.

 

“Do you know who hired the assassin to hunt down your friends? It’s Baekhyun’s father.”

 

 

It was like something ignited with the bomb in Chanyeol’s mind. He started to understand everything. What the man was saying started making sense to him. Everything suddenly connected to one another.

 

His normal life was destroyed because of them.

Jongin died because of them.

Everything was in chaos because of them.

 

Chanyeol hates them.

 

Neither Chanyeol himself nor the man notices the black aura surrounding the young warlock as he closed his fist and curse the people who used to be his friends.

Minho leaves Chanyeol in his room. He had been talking to the young warlock for quite a long time already, convincing him that his old company are really enemies. He used too much of his ability to charm speak. Yes, he used his power to make Chanyeol hate everyone else.

 

Minho cracks his knuckles and stretches his arms as he make his way back to his own room, when he feels another presence behind him.

 

“Oh, so you used your ability to another warlock?” The witch Yuri was there, standing a few meters behind Minho, her arms crossed in front of her chest, eyebrows raised as if judging.

 

“What are you doing here? I thought you ran away already? Your purpose is done, you know.” Minho turns and his eyes meets that of the young witch.

 

“Oh no. I wouldn’t do that. I only went away for a few hours and casted a spell on myself so no external dark magic can be casted upon me ever again. I’m going to stay here for a while, especially now that Chanyeol is in your hands and you can’t use your stupid ability on me.” Triumph was written all over Yuri’s face and Minho couldn’t help but be amused by the other.

 

“Really? I thought you’re staying because of me.” Too much confidence can kill, jerk. Yuri thinks as she scoffs.

 

“Don’t flatter yourself. I’m merely watching and observing from the house of the enemy.” Minho grins at the reaction of the said witch, she seems to be so defensive and on-guard.

 

“If you say so. I need to take a rest in my room, you’re welcome to stay in there as well.” The young man turns his back at the witch, ready to leave any time soon.

 

“Are you kidding me? You’re telling me to share the room with you?”

 

“What? It’s not like I’ll do anything to you, Madame. Don’t flatter yourself.” This time, Minho really leaves the witch behind, a small smile on his handsome face as he hears Yuri mutter some curses behind him.

Kyungsoo walks around the park wearing a thick coat and a black face mask. He wasn’t even supposed to leave the house. But since everyone was busy, he managed to slip away. He wasn’t even sure what was keeping them so occupied, but he saw Baekhyun crying. It’s weird to see a vampire cry but he just didn’t care.

He needs a time away from them.

 

Kyungsoo puts his hands in his pocket and strolls around a park. He sees a lot of people – different people. Some kids are playing together, couples walking hand in hand, families sitting and laughing together and friends chatting as they sat beside each other.

 

Chanyeol, Jongin and I used to be like that. Just sitting silently together with nothing bothering us aside from school works and what to order for dinner. Kyungsoo smiles a sad smile. He almost didn’t notice the tear that fell from his eye if it didn’t fall on his lips.

 

Kyungsoo walks a little more and then he finally sits on a bench near a small fountain. He admires the whole place for a moment before he spots a young boy playing near the edge of the road. There were black butterflies surrounding him.

 

Kyungsoo sees him playing with a toy car. The toy car runs and runs until it reaches the edge of the road and then the middle. Another black butterfly appears near the boy. Kyungsoo’s heartbeat doubles its rate.

The boy runs towards the toy car on the middle of the road. He didn’t see it. He didn’t see a real car coming towards him.

Screams filled the whole area.

Kyungsoo runs towards the young boy. He screams for help. The boy was still clutching the toy car in his arms. The young boy smiles. He tries to reach for Kyungsoo.

 

The black butterflies started flying away and the boy dies in Kyungsoo’s arms.

 

 

 

He understood it that day.
