Her Letters to Jongin

It has been nearly five years since I had last seen Soojung.
I guess that’s just what growing up does to you.
After graduation, Soojung went to America for school, and I stayed in Seoul. We had always kept in contact, no matter how busy we were—updating each other on our own lives was a must in our friendship.
From what she told me, she was doing great.
Sitting on Soojung’s bed, I set the black box on my lap.
Jongin.
I stared at the name while thinking hard.
He was one of Luhan’s best friends.
I went over to Soojung’s bookshelf next to her desk and pulled out her copy of our school yearbook of the year we graduated. Flipping the book open, I happened onto the page where Soojung was.
Jung Soojung. She was the beauty and the brains of our school. Even her school photo was pretty, unlike mine which was horrendous. I scanned through the faces and names along the rows after her while reminiscing and remembering our old schoolmates. I remembered which ones we didn’t like and the other ones whom we admired.
Then I stumbled upon his name.
Kim Jongin.
Counting the number of students in the row and locating his picture, I suddenly remembered him more.
