The Latin word for Personal Enemy is Inimicus, Inimicus is defined as: personal enemy, foe, opponent.

Hye rolled around in her king sized bed, unable to get up since her body was aching all over. Yesterday Hye was training material arts throughout the whole day. Her dad was against her doing something so ‘unfeminine’ at first, but after Hye had told him she wanted to be able to defend herself from teenage boys with nasty thoughts, he was on her side rather fast. Instead of unfeminine he started calling it a ‘skill’, which it certainly is, but not after one week of training. Her father couldn’t care less about that though, as he bragged about Hye in front of his high up friends.

The real reason why Hye felt the need to be able to fight, were the robots the government sold. Hye had heard that the new robots became stronger than ever and could do anything you desired them to do. She is scared that the robots are stronger than your average human, and who knows what would happen if the robots went mad or rebelled.
The robots were invented by Kris. When he was 15 years old, he used to show her all kind of things that his robots would be able to do. Back then as a 9 year old girl she was already sceptic about these robots. She didn’t trust them, since they weren’t alive, they didn’t have a beating heart like humans. That scared her the most.

Once he started working for the government, and making robots for them Hye was mad. She couldn’t believe that her only friend also started working for the government. Hye was fourteen years old when he started his job, he tried to make up to her but she wouldn’t let him. He is a traitor. “Go and make your unhuman robots and befriend them or something! I don’t want to see you ever again!” Hye remembered screaming these words at him as he told her about his new job.

Ironically they met again the day after at a business party which she had to attend to in order to keep her father satisfied with her. She did not talk to him for 3 weeks, but when she did talk to him they were angry words. Only in front of others they would act like they were still friends. Since both of them are rather well known and it would create unnecessary unwanted friction between their parents.

Kris his parents are both in the ruler system, just like Hye’s father. The ruler system, consists of 20 adults who rule the country together. Every country has their twenty rulers, together they keep the world in check.  We call them ‘the rulers’, some call them ‘Kings & Queens’ others call them ‘the evil’. Mostly the rich people are passionate about the ruler system, whereas the poor see it as a torment. Which is no surprise since the ruler system causes the poor to always be poor. The easiest way to get into the ruler system and become one of the rulers, is to be blood related to one of the rulers.

Which explains why Kris and Hye are famous. They are the only children that the rulers in their country has. Hye should feel blessed about this, every other person envies the chance she has and any one you ask is surely jealous of her. Hye only ever felt like it was an annoyance, she wouldn’t want to be a part of those stupid people, who do nothing but make life hard for the poor and easy for themselves. Of course, she never let anyone know about this fact. When she is asked about if she wants to join the ruler system when she’s older all she answers with is “What an honor that would be” with a chuckle.

Hye finally found the determination to get out of bed when her maid walked in and scolded her for her laziness. Hye took a shower and then put on her leather leggings with an flower printed oversized sweater above it. She went downstairs and headed to the breakfast table to be met with her father, Kris and an unknown boy. She greeted her father happily and turned to Kris to give him a hug. Since her father still thinks they are best friends. “Why the hell are you ruining my morning, Kris?” she whispered before ending the hug and giving him a quick glare when her father couldn’t see her face.

The unknown boy’s eyes widened as he was apparently able to see her face as she was glaring at Kris. Hye turned to the boy and waited for him to introduce himself. But he just looked stunned at her and then turned his gaze questioning to Kris. “Introduce yourself” was all Kris said and the boy seemed to finally understand what was going on. He hastily bowed a bit before he said “Nice to meet you, my name is Kai.203.649.01 and I will be serving you from now on”. Hye’s eyes widened as she now knew that this boy.. is not just a boy.

He is a robot. “Did Kris bring him here?” she turned to her father without introducing herself to the robot. “Yes, he made this robot especially for you, isn’t that right Kris?” her father knew that she is not fond of robots, but the was sure that since Kris made it for you, you would gladly accept it. Hye noticed Kris’s smile twitching a bit at the word ‘robot’, which gave her a bad feeling, she wasn’t sure why it was like this though. Perhaps he didn’t see them just as ‘robots’ anymore. She figured, that since he made them he would feel like they were his family. When they were younger he even treated his favorite plushy as his younger brother.

“Hye, Kai.203.649.01 is one of a kind, I hope you’ll treat him well” Kris said as he smiled at Hye. Hye knows this smile, it’s his loving smile. He really does see them as family. She inwardly sighed but returned a real smile, since she’s happy that there still is a good part about her enemy from when they were best friends. He treats everyone as equal. That’s why she can’t believe that he betrayed her and started working for the government. “He’ll be in good hands here, thank you kris! By the way, I have some homework I wanted you to help me with, do you have some time right now?” she asked in the hope to get some time alone with him, so she could ask him why the hell he had brought this Kai2938402804 to her house.
Kris knew that there was no way the intelligent Hye needed his help with her homework, yes Kris is a genius, but that doesn’t mean that Hye is not. “Sure, let’s go upstairs” he answered and followed her to her room. He gestured Kai to follow them, Kai wasn’t sure why Kris did that, but he was totally fine with it. Since he was rather curious about this girl he had just met.

At first he didn’t understand why she would hug Kris when Kris said that they’re not close anymore, but when he heard what she whispered to him with his super hearing he figured they must have a complicated relationship. As they arrived at the door to her room she eyed Kai weirdly before asking Kris “Why did he follow us?” as she glared at him. It made Kai feel a little bit unwelcome, but since Kris was there he figured it would be okay. “Well, didn’t you want to speak to me about Kai?” Kris said as he crossed his arms over his chest.
Hye puffed her cheeks before opening the door to her room “Fine, come on in”. They entered her room and Kai’s eyes widened for the millionth time that day, he had been traveling the whole night by car and he saw so many new things. This room as well, he expected it to look the same as his room looked back at the government building.
But it wasn’t anything close to that. It is way bigger and has way more things and colors inside than the dull bedroom he used to have. He was fascinated and randomly touched things that he thought looked cool. Hye grew annoyed as she saw him looking through her room like that.

“What is he doing? Make him stop Kris” she said as she was still glaring at him. “Kai, sit down next to me okay?” Kris told Kai before he sat down at the round table with four chairs around it. Hye also took a seat at the table and decided to just be direct about this. “I don’t like you bringing a robot to my house” she said while looking at Kris and pretending Kai doesn’t exist. “Well to be you then” Kris shrugged his shoulders. “It’s already settled with your dad, Kai is staying here” he continued. “What makes you think I can’t change anything about that Kris? This is my house” Hye raised her voice a little, the fact that he arranged this without her knowing irked her.

Kris let out a laugh “Well, how are you going to tell your father that you declined your best friends special gift?”. She let out a sigh, she knew right from the start when her father told her it was especially made for her she wouldn’t be able to decline it indeed. “Fine, at least tell my why he’s here then. Why would you give such a precious robot to me who doesn’t like them at all? Just to irritate me?” Hye found this too suspicious. If he didn’t like it when her dad called this Kai a robot it meant Kai was like family to Kris. So why would he leave him with her, his enemy. It just didn’t make any sense.

“Because you don’t like them, that’s why I want him to be here. He’s my master piece, and I don’t want those stuck up families to ruin him” Kris decided it was best to just tell her his real reason, well… Maybe not the ‘whole’ real reason, but just a part of it. He was sure that just a part of it would be enough. “What the hell Kris? We’re enemies. What makes you think I wouldn’t want to ruin your master piece?” she scoffed.
“Because I know you won’t ruin something I made” he answered confidently. She couldn’t believe he said that, but what irritated her the most was the fact that it was true. No matter how much she sees him as a traitor or an enemy she still doesn’t want to ruin something that made him have his good character point still intact.
The robots are the reason why he started thinking and seeing everyone equally. And if he sees this robot as his family she wouldn’t dare to ruin him, because it would be like killing a person. Well maybe not really, but she knew that for Kris it would be like losing a family member, so technically it would count as murder she figured.
 

“I hate you” Hye answered and Kris just smirked at her, he had won this battle. “I love you” he winked at her and Hye made a face of disgust before chuckling a bit at their own silliness. “I wish you didn’t betray me” Hye said quietly hoping Kris wouldn’t hear it, but he did. “You really think I betrayed you?” he scoffed. “I told you before, we are the children who can change the ruler system, I’m just trying to live up to that and” “By going to their side?” Hye interrupted him. “We can only change things if we are inside the ruler system, things don’t have to be the way they are in there. I’m going to change it, even if you think of me as a betrayer” he said before standing up and making his way to the door. “Kris, how do your robots change anything in the ruler system?” Hye asked while she ran after him and grabbed onto his arm. “I’m earning their trust before I’m old enough to take the test to join the rulers system, you idiot” he answered while hitting her head.

Hye was not sure whether she should believe Kris right now. She had never really asked him why he betrayed her during these three years that they were ‘enemies’. She wasn’t really sure whether he was just fooling her now, because she refused to believe that they were enemies for three years over nothing.
