college au : party hard

Daydreaming

COLLEGE AU : party hard
"hi - uh we live next door."
Dari took a deep breath and took a good look around her messy dorm. Boxes covered the dusty tile and the short haired girl couldn't help but groan at the thought of having to clean the mess. Maybe I'll just leave it here for a few days...
"DARI!" A voice rung out from the hallway, exasperated and tired. Nevermind.
"I could use a little help here," it's owner cried. A young girl in her late teens pushed a box nearly her size through the door, giving her friend an annoyed look as she passed. "You're already a really bad roommate."
Dari rolled her eyes and moved to help her best friend. "You know Miyoung, maybe if you hadn't shoved all our heavy into a single box we wouldn't be having this problem."
Miyoung stuck her tongue out and let go of the large box, dusting her hands off. "No way was I going to make two trips up those stairs."
Dari rolled her eyes and flopped onto a large box, groaning. "Do we have to unpack today?"
"Yes."
"But whyyy?"
"Because if we don't do it now, we'll never get it done." Miyoung matter of factly pointed out before placing each object down on the table in front of her.
She has a point... Dari shook of her thoughts and pressed her friend even further. "But think of all the parties we're missing out on! Sooyeon said she was going to have a get together with all of us and some of her other friends today!"
Miyoung began to hum, ignoring her friend.
"We have to go! For Sooyeon! You haven't seen her since high school!" she begged.
No response. Try harder Dari...
"And it's your first day here as a transfer! Don't you want to see all the cute boys?"
Miyoung hesitated briefly. Gotcha.
"You know you want tooooooo~" Dari laughed evily.
Miyoung turned to look at her, eyes narrowing. "I hate you."
"IS THAT A YES?"
"ONLY IF YOU PROMISE WE'LL FINISH UNPACKING AFTER!"
"DEAL!"
xXx
"Alright Dari let's not do this right now okay?" Miyoung huffed as she carried her drunk best friend back to their new dorm. She continued to trudge through the hallway, Dari half mumbling and half laughing as they made their way down.
"You know....I really like parties..." she giggled.
"I know you do Dari," Miyoung responded as if she was talking to a tired 4 year old. "But we need to take you home now so you can go night night alright?"
"But I don't want to go night night!" she sobbed.
Miyoung rolled her eyes and continued to make her way forward, mumbling to herself. "This is why we should've just finished unpacking. There weren't even any cute guys the-"
"HEY!" a new voice yelled.
Miyoung stumbled backwards, Dari flailing like a fish out of water as she tried to keep their balance. What the hell?
Two boys stood in front of them - one of which was extremely drunk. He had light brown hair and a dumb smile was plastered on his face. His friend had jet black hair and was supporting his drunk friend.
The drunk one pointed at Miyoung before turning to his friend giddly and laughing. "Jiho, what do you think about her?"
Jiho snatched his friend's hand and looked at Miyoung and Dari, embarrassed. "Stop being a Kyung."
Kyung laughed hysterically and turned back towards Miyoung, looking like a love sick fool. "You're r-really pretty," he cooed.
Miyoung blushed and opened to say something - but nothing came out. Dari leaned forward - causing Miyoung to stumble a bit - and laughed, "T-thank you but you're prettier," she giggled as she pointed to Jiho.
Jiho and Miyoung stared at each other awkwardly, their two best friends having their own conversation in drunken mumbles.
"Hi - uh. We live next door. Sorry," Jiho cleared his throat and cursed at his friend.
"No it's okay don't worry about it," Miyoung reassured with a smile. "I'm Miyoung, and this drunk blob is Dari."
"I'm Jiho, but my friends all call me Zico. This is Kyung."
"Nice to meet you Jiho. She's not usually like this," Miyoung laughed.
"Kyung usually is. Sorry about this. I'll make sure he apologizes tomorrow, sorry." He made a light bow in apology and started to drag Kyung away, cursing louder this time. "You ing idiot, can't you act normal in front of a girl for just once in your life?"
Miyoung laughed as she could hear Kyung trying to defend his drunk state of mind, while failing miserably. She turned to Dari, who was close to passing out, "Good job," she cooed. "You made us look like idiots in front of our cute neighbors, I hope you're happy."
As she opened the door to their new home she could of sworn she heard someone laugh.
xXx
Dari groaned as she lay on the bathroom tile, her head pounding. "What the happened last night?" she cursed.
Miyoung who was in the kitchen and finishing unpacking, called out to her and matter of factly explained "Well after you TRICKED me into going to a party that was DEFINITELY not hosted by Sooyeon you decided to get plastered and almost broke the DJ's very expensive equipment so I dragged your sorry back here where you then decided to make us look like lame stereotypical party college girls in front of OUR VERY. CUTE. NEIGHBORS. Then I took you night night and made myself some hot chocolate so I could watch Gintama in peace."
Dari poked her head out the bathroom door, horrified. "How cute?"
"A solid 8/10. Maybe more if one of them wasn't out of his mind drunk." Miyoung shook her head sadly, "You shoulda just stayed home and unpacked."
Dari groaned again. "I shoulda just stayed home and unpacked." she placed her head on the cool tile, hoping the pounding would go away soon.
In the kitchen, Miyoung had been scrolling on her phone, waiting for her anime to finish loading.
Knock Knock.
Dari sobbed from her spot on the bathroom floor as Miyoung made her way across their living room to open the door. What stood behind was the same very cute drunk boy from last night.
"Um. Hi," he smiled.
Miyoung stood, mouth agape as she remembered the events from last night. Before she had the chance to respond to his hello, he began to speak once more.
"Hey," he cleared his throat and started to blush a light shade of pink. "So um. I'm sorry for anything I might of done or said last night." He started to blush harder as he rushed through his sentences.
"Zico wouldn't tell me what I said or did, something about 'atoning for my sins?' Anyway that's besides the point. I want to make it up to you - Zico and I are going to this open mic night kind of thing later today, let me get you coffee or something."
From the bathroom, Dari started to cackle. "IS THAT A DATE?"
"N-no!" he nervously laughed, "You can bring your friend to! Um, my name is Ky-"
"Kyung." Miyoung finished. She smiled shyly and ran her hand through her hair. "I know, Jiho told me yesterday."
"Ah well," Kyung spluttered, "since we live next door, I'll just knock later today, okay? Like at 8? Uh," he began to make his way back to his dorm, hitting a wall in the process. "I'll see you then I guess?"
Miyoung nodded, unable to say anything else. Once Kyung was sure she shut the door, he peeked out from behind the corner, sweating bullets. Oh my god oh my god did I just ask her out? DID I REALLY CALL HER PRETTY YESTERDAY? Zico was right, I'm ed. He smashed his head into the wall repeatedly, overcome with regret. She's too pretty for me.... I SAID ZICO WAS GOING TOO!
Inside, Miyoung was squealing to Dari, already in a frenzy trying to figure out what to wear. "SOBER UP, WE'RE GOING OUT!"
Dari groaned.
xXx
Once 8 o clock had rolled around, Kyung and Zico made their way to their neighbors' dorm.
"I hope you're not mad," Kyung chuckled nervously at his younger friend as he adjusted his shirt.
Zico shrugged and smiled at his friend. "No harm no foul. Besides, she's just my type," he wiggled his eyebrows and smiled ertedly, causing Kyung to roll his eyes.
"Shut up idiot. How do I look?" he did a dramatic spin for his friend, giving him the 360 model treatment.
Zico gave him a thumbs up and pat his bought, "Very nice."
Kyung was wearing a simple white tee with black skinny jeans with black docs and a basic snapback. Zico was much more adventurous with his fashion choices and wore his favorite yellow sweater, black pants, and dress shoes. He had his hair slicked back, but it somehow suited him.
Kyung nervously coughed before taking a deep breath and knocking on the door. Here goes literally nothing.
Knock. Knock.
"I'm coming," a voice called.
As they waited they could hear another voice arguing with the first one. "WAIT. How do I look? DON'T OPEN IT IF I DON'T LOOK OKAY!"
"Shut up you look fine."
"JUST FINE? OH GOD - TELL THEM I DIED-"
"SHUT UP, I'M OPENING THE DOOR!"
"NO DON'T OPEN THE DOOR YET I'M NOT REA-"
Dari's head popped through the door, a smile on her face. "Ready!" Behind, she had Miyoung in a tight grip, ready to drag her friend out the building if needed.
Zico couldn't help but laugh, he smiled and waved at the two girls. "So we meet again."
Dari stepped out and shoved Miyoung through the door before locking it behind her. Miyoung stumbled in front of Kyung, nervously chuckling. "Hi again."
Kyung awkwardly smiled, "Hi. Uh. You guys look great by the way."
Dari was wearing her favorite ripped black jeans with a long sleeved white top, white vans to match. Miyoung wore her favorite white dress with a denim cardigan and black vans.
"Thanks," Miyoung beamed.
Dari and Zico watched the two awkwardly interact with one another and rolled their eyes.
She snuck besides Zico and whispered, "I can already tell we're third wheeling tonight."
Zico snorted, "You think? Might as well make the best of it." He snapped his fingers in front of Kyung and Miyoung, grabbing their attention. "Let's speed things up shall we lovebirds? We have a performance to get to."
The two looked at their friends embarrassed. "Yeah let's go!" Kyung gestured for Miyoung to go first, making their friends gag.
"Nevermind," Zico groaned, "let's get drunk instead." He trudged after his friend, already expecting the worst.
His companion snickered before following after him.
"I like the way you think."
xXx
"Alright, alright," Kyung spoke into the mic, "today I would like to dedicate this next song to a girl I just met," he looked at Miyoung who sat in the crowd of the tiny cafe shop.
Her heart was thumping, he was so charasmatic on stage - but still just as dorky as before.
He smiled at her, "This next song Zico helped me compose, it's called Ordinary Love. Let me know what you think."
The beat DROPPED LIKE FIRE but not really and he began to rap,
A new person, having interest
Give and take obvious words,
Just when we were getting wary of each other,
I mustered up courage and gave a drunken confession...
From the back of the cafe Zico and Dari sat, drinking their coffee.
"You were really cool up there!" she complimented. "I didn't know you could rap Jiho."
The boy chuckled, obviously embarrassed. "Yeah well, Kyung and I have been doing it for years. Call me Zico. We've been through a lot together."
"Awww that's cute...Zico. You guys seemed close."
"Yep."
Silence.
"I'm sorry about whatever happened last night," Dari confessed.
Zico gave her a cute smile, "Don't worry about it. It was kinda cute."
Dari flushed, hiding her face in her hands. "Oh god. I can't even imagine what I said. What did I do?"
Zico looked at her before taking another sip of his coffee. Might as well have some fun with this. "You promised that you would take me out on a date."
"WHAT!" Dari yelped and looked at the boy in horror. "DID I REALLY SAY THAT?? Oh my god I'm so sorry I didn't mean to-"
Zico broke out into giddy laughter, before giving her a coy smile. "No; you didn't. But let's do it. Would it really be that bad to date me?"
She immediately turned a dark shade of red, completely flustered at his abrupt confession. "Um-"
"Besides," he cut her off, and gestured towards Kyung and Miyoung who were sitting a few feet away, smiling and laughing at each other. "They'll be dating by next week. Two weeks tops. We'll be seeing a lot more of each other even if we didn't want to. Just one date?" he smiled at her.
Dari's heart thumped in her chest. "Okay?" she finally managed to say.
"Great," he leaned his head against the counter and looked at her like a cute puppy. "And if that date goes well how about another?"
"Sure?"
"And if that date goes well how about one more?"
"Alright???"
"And if that one..."
Miyoung and and Kyung watched their two best friends flirting with one another. "I bet you $5 that Zico already got her to go out with him."
"As if," Miyoung laughed. "Dari would never agree that easily!"
"Oh yeah? I bet that he did, AND he's already gotten her to agree to a second date."
"Fine. I'll bet you $5 and TWO dates that you're wrong."
"Deal!"
"You're so going on a date with me."
"Yeah, probably."
xXx
Two Months Later
Dari and Miyoung sat in their living room, doing their daily chores.
"FINALLY!" Dari rose her hands to the heavens after she placed the last pan in the cupboard. "We are officially unpacked!"
Miyoung rolled her eyes from the sofa, reading the newest chapter of Gintama. "If you hadn't made us go to that party the first day we would have been done 1 month and 29 days ago."
Dari scoffed and threw a pillow at her best friend. "Well if we hadn't gone we wouldn't have run into Kyung and Zico and we would be living our boring lives without knowing them."
"We would have known them dummy they're our neighbors!"
"Well you wouldn't be happily dating him now would you?"
"...you may have a point." Miyoung conceded.
"Exactly." Dari nodded, proud that she won the pointless argument. A few seconds later the door opened, Zico walking in as if it was his own room.
"Heyooo," he smiled and made his way to the kitchen, opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle of Miyoung's Vitamin Water. "You guys finally finished unpacking! Nice."
Miyoung got up and snatched the bottle out of his hands, "No thanks to you," she stuck her tongue out and opened it, drinking it for herself.
"Hey it's not just my fault! Blame your boyfriend too." He pecked Dari's cheek and placed an arm over her shoulder.
"What are we blaming me for this time?" Kyung walked in the room, already making his way towards Miyoung.
"The usual," Dari shook her head at Zico and Miyoung's crazy antics.
"Ah, the Vitamin Water Controversy strikes again." Kyung plopped down on the sofa, Miyoung handing him her bottle.
"Hey why does he get to drink your water?" Zico scoffed.
"Because sharing is caring," Miyoung sat down besides him and smiled innocently.
"And I'm her boyfriend soooo you know. Tough luck kid." Kyung added.
"I hate you guys," Zico grumbled and pulled Dari closer to him. "They're being mean to me!"
She patted his back and shook her head. "Remind me why I'm dating you again?"
"Because I'm hot," Zico grinned.
"He has a point there," Kyung confessed.
The four of them laughed.
"You're such an idiot Kyung."
"But so are you for dating me."
