“Eric-ssi. How did you know I was here?” Hyesung looks back at Eric surprised. Eric let go of Jun Jin’s wrist, enabling Jun Jin to pull back and rub against the part where Eric held rather tightly. “Nowadays phone has a GPS tracking system. So I mainly just followed your phone.” Eric shrugged his shoulders.

"You are kidding me. That's equivalent to stalking." Hyesung resist the urge to roll his eyes. “And you follow me because?” Hyesung raised his eyebrows.

“I just feel like getting something from the convenience store to eat for dinner at the park and I don’t want to be alone. So I thought I’ll ask you to accompany me.” Eric grabbed Hyesung’s wrist before pulling him away from the table. As they were near the exit, Eric shouted loudly with his back facing Jun Jin “I have already paid for your meal when I entered just now. Sorry to intrude on your conversation.”  

Jun Jin’s eyes never left Eric and Hyesung. He was about to stand up and get Hyesung back when it was too late. Eric had already pushed Hyesung into his car and drove off.

First he said to me not to misunderstand the kiss. And now he barge in when I was having such a wonderful time with Jun Jin. I could clearly see some sort of jealousy in him. How can I not misunderstand him?

Hyesung and Eric were sitting on a bench, overlooking the playground. Somehow, it was awkwardly quiet. What kind of dinner is this? A plain piece of bread?

I should be buying other food instead of a piece of bread shouldn’t I? Eric pondered to himself while staring at the half eaten bread in his hands.

“I’ve got something to say.” Both spoke at the same time and that weirdly enough just increase the awkwardness amongst them.

“Erm I’ll go first.” Eric said. Hyesung just nodded while staring at the ground, clutching onto the piece of bread tightly. "I’ve thought about what I’ve said in the morning and I would like to use this chance to correct myself. I know I said to you not to misunderstand the kiss. But to be honest, I was partly sober then. I knew what I was doing and I don’t think that kiss was just a thank you kiss. I know it’s more than that. So, although I’m sure I don’t really like you in a romantic way for now, I thought why not I try to like you... I know we are ages apart...”

Again, like yesterday, he saw Hyesung burrowing his head in his hands, crying.

This kid… It wasn’t even a confession and yet he still cry… is everything I said that moving? Eric could only laugh to himself softly while patting Hyesung’s head.

After Hyesung had calm down, something suddenly dawned on Eric before he softly asked Hyesung “This morning, you said I stole your first kiss. So don’t tell me you have never ever experienced a first love before?”

“You really think I’m a kid don’t you?” Hyesung glared at Eric angrily. “Of course I have my first love.”

I remembered it was after I heard the news about my parent’s death. I ran away from home because it was so chaotic inside. I wanted to get away, to clear my thoughts. I remember sitting on a swing, staring up at the night sky because I didn’t want any tears to roll down my cheeks. I sat there for quite some time and it was really late around 10+. When suddenly, I heard someone shouting at me. At first I thought it was my sister. But it turns out to be a boy. Probably around 19 or 20.

He was shouting to me why I wasn’t at home since it was so late. I initially ignored him. But then, he came closer and when he realized I was crying, he used his hands to wipe away the tears. Somehow, I fall for his caring side. Yes. I know he is older than me by a lot. But you know how some people say love has no boundaries. He never asked me what happened. He just sat there and told me irrelevant things to comfort me. And when it  was getting really late, he took me to a police station so I can called home and asked them to pick me up. When I had made the phone call, I turned around just to see his back facing me, fading away. I didn’t even get to say a simple thank you.

I did try to look for him but somehow, I couldn’t find him. Not even at the playground where we met. It’s like he disappeared. But strangely, although we only met once, my love for him managed to last till I was in high school.

Hyesung sighed dreamily yet Eric was looking at Hyesung dumbfounded.

“Normally, those kinds of guys who always are out till that late are usually people with no bright future. Probably he just wanted to act like a hero in front of a naive kid.” Eric nodded his head as if whatever he had said just now was absolutely right.

“Very funny.” Hyesung said dryly. “What if that guy was you?” Hyesung smirked.

“Unlikely.” Eric protested. “I don’t recall doing such thing. Strangely, I can’t remember much before I moved to New York which is when I was 21. All I can remember is I had lived in Korea from when I was born till I was 20.”

“Maybe that’s because you’re too old to remember things.” Hyesung grinned.

Eric looked at Hyesung expressionless before saying “And you have feelings for this old man.”  

Surprised by that sudden outburst of words, they stared straight ahead. For they dared not looked at each other. But at that moment, they were connected by the loud and fast thumping sounds coming from two hearts.
