“Your eyes are really pretty.” The words were out of your mouth before you had time to think about them. Once your brain registered what you had just said you blushed furiously. “Ah, I mean… that is… well, they are.” You finished stubbornly.

“Um… thank you.” Jongdae was blushing as well, a cute pink tint appearing on his cheeks. “Yours are nice too.”

You blinked, blushing even more. “T...thank you.” You hadn’t expected that comment.

“Um… I take it you didn’t catch what I was explaining then.” It was a statement rather than a question.

“Sorry, I got distracted…” You cursed inwardly for having said it that way. The perfect way to get out of the awkwardness and change the topic but you ruined it. Jongdae was looking down now, blushing still. Yet the corners of his mouth were pulled upwards in a small smile.

“Sorry that my eyes are so distracting.” He muttered, looking up and straight at you.

Stare back and say: “If you’re sorry, how are you gonna make it up to me?” (13)

Nervously try to change the topic by saying: “Ah, that’s not… how about taking a break and getting something to drink?” (14)
