❝ D-4 Chapter 06: Of Surprises and Sparkles ❤

I woke up to the bright light filtering through the open window, flooding my room with white light. I blinked against the light, groaning as I turned over covering my blinded eyes with my blanket. I was generally an early riser, along with Eunmi, waking up at the crack of dawn with no effort whatsoever. Usually I would wake up early enough to hear the deep breathing of my members and greeting by the dim light of the early morning sun. Usually, I would be up long before the sun had rising and only the faint streaks of sunlight peeking over the horizon. Now having the taste of what it was like to fail to achieve my “early bird gets the worm,” motto of the morning, I felt shamelessly lame and altogether lazy. Which was completely against my usual theme of anti-laziness. But I would have to let it slide for now, keeping my sore body and aching back in account, I was definitely not in the mood to wake up this morning. Maybe this was how it was to wake up late.

With our jammed schedules due to our upcoming debut, the fine line divided between fantasy and reality was started to blur together. It came to a point where the line became fuzzy that now my dreams and real life were started to mix together, making it harder for me to distinguish between what was real and what was just a figment of my imagination. And even my emotions were unidentified, since I was too caught up with my confusion to comprehend anything that was going on around me, everything just became too confusing to understand. My anxiety, stress, and nervousness just mixed together in a mess of emotions, to a point where I didn’t know how to react. Even the days were being jumbled together as well.

I took a deep sigh, rubbing my temples as another wave of my headache washed over. Turning over on my stomach, I fumbled aimlessly, my fingers reached towards my nightstand, once my finger made contact with the smooth, wooden surface, my fingers continued groping around until I found my phone. Flipping my device on, I unplugged it with a fluid motion, blinking against the light until my vision adjusted to focus on the small digits on the screen.

“11:49?” I nearly shrieked, suddenly sitting upright on my bed. The motion was so quick it tugged on my sore muscles in my back, causing me to groan in pain. Distracted with the pinching pain in my back, I nearly smacked the top of my head on the edge of the top bunk, but ducked just in time. With only four days living this dorm, I still haven’t adjusted to sleeping on the lower bunk, and the fact that waking up each morning was a dangerous hazard. Being one of the tallest members of my group, sometimes height was definitely a disadvantage. But at least we are miniature compared to EXO, just think about how much trouble they go through to- I cut myself off from my thoughts, deciding against to think about a certain member of their group. And talking about that pado— I scan through my messages, finding a recent conversation with my childhood friend—Luhan. But just as I typed up a message, my phone sounded with a whistle, notifying me of a message.
         -Hey there sleepyhead! You awake now?
I groaned mentally, still staring at the time with disbelief. Hmm, looks like I was going to be late for practice. For the first time ever. I only groaned again, picking up my wounded self and padded into the kitchen silently making myself breakfast until another whistle cut into my thoughts again.
    -By the way, today’s a free day, so you better get some rest. Okay?
What? A free day? How come no one told me of this? I scanned through my scattered mind searching for an explanation. Right, the V debut showcase filming is tomorrow, but wouldn’t the managers tell us anything? I picked up my phone and fired a message back at her.
    -Gotcha, so whatcha gonna do then?
Emily replied almost immediately, with:
    -Practice. Duh! But you on the other hand, should SLEEP!
I scoffed, rest was definitely not an option in this situation. Rubbing my sensitive back, I picked at my breakfast, before realizing how silent the dorm was. Oh right, everyone else was probably taking advantage of our free rest day to go visit their parents and family. I noted mentally before sending another text back to my friend.
    -Naw way, count me in! I’m going to be practicing regardless if you like it or not!
Of course, Emily knew better than to argue with me, so I was sure she was going to give in either way.
    -Okay fine! Meet me at the usual practice room then. :D
I smiled finishing up the rest of my meal before going back to my room, changing into comfortable sweats, a loose t-shirt, and grabbed my sunglasses from the top of my dresser as I stretched out my muscles one by one, making my way towards the front door. Nothing better than to take advantage of your free day to practice! I think to myself. Just as I stuffed my feet into my sneaker heels, another ring resounded from my phone.
