❝ D-8 Chapter 02: Almost there ❤
Finally, the last step. Take take a deep breath, ignoring my sore, aching arms and heave my suitcase up the last step from the flight of stairs that I had be forced against my will to clamber up on. Dang, who knew that my suitcase could be that heavy? I rub out my sore muscles, pulling up the handle of my pink suitcase on my right, bracing myself to prepare for the long drag to our personal studio. But just as I start to reach for my second suitcase, a hand blocks my path. Judging by the lean, masculine arm, I already knew the owner of the hand long before he could open his mouth.
“Sehun, stop.” I mumble, keeping my eyes trained on the ground as I attempt to brush him aside. Was I really deaf? Because I would of been able to hear his loud gallops up the staircase before he could— oh right. My teeth were still chewing on my earphone cable, suddenly reminding me that I was still listening to my music as I had began my long trek up the evil staircase of doom. “Go away, jerk.” truthfully, I knew it was rude to say such words to her sunbae, but Sehun was always an exception.
Just as I pull my earbuds out of my ears, I catch the words, “—riously? Hello Kitty? What are you, fourteen years old?” Ah, there goes the insults again. Typical Sehun. Always with the rude comments. My only response was my tongue blowing raspberry at him, with a swipe of my hand I managed to successfully push the tower out of my way. Grabbing my Hello Kitty suitcase with a defenseless look, I send him a glare, “Jeez, you should go back to school and re-learn math, Sehun. You’re three years off.” I turn around the corner, still feeling his steady gaze on my back. “But nice guess. I suppose.”
I take another sharp left and half-ran, half-stumbled down the hallway towards the P!NK FR!DAY practice room. Sehun’s hurried steps follow mine before suddenly they quicken to a sprint, his smug face smirking as he passed me. “Yeesh, you don’t have to make everything a game to you.” I snap, slowing down as I approached the room.
“Wait—” he stops me by grabbing my wrist swiftly before it could even touch the door handle. “You probably didn’t get the message.” I give him a blank stare with the raise of my eyebrows, “Really Sehun? Could you leave your pranks for later? I’m really busy—”
“No really, you didn’t hear?”
“Hear bout what?!”
“You’re practicing in our studio today.” he explains quickly, his words mixing together, his lisp becoming even more noticeable as he talked faster. I let out a snort of laughter, “You’re kidding right?” I shake my head in disapproval, “Seriously, you need to grow up. Sometimes, I even think that I’m older here.”
“Qui!”our heads swivel towards the voice in perfect synchronization. “There you are! We’ve been looking for you!” Haneul’s head sticks out from the door across the hallway, her long black hair was now dyed a light shade of brown. She steps out into the hallway, flipping her hair nonchalantly over her shoulder, she stiffened suddenly, noticing the tension in the air. “So…” her eyes flick nervously between the giant tower and me. “What took you so long?”
“The elevator broke down.” I answer, shaking my head in disapproval, “Then I was forced to lug my luggage up 3 flights of stairs.”
A sputter of choked laughter comes from the maknae of EXO. “Pft, 60 steps is not that much to carry a little Hello Kitty suitcase.”
“And you actually know the exact amount of stairs there are?” I shot back, smiling on the inside as his cheeks redden instantly.
“N-not necessarily…” he coughs awkwardly before pushing past Haneul and into his respectively practice room, “Er, I’ll let you two talk alone.”
“What’s his problem?” I shake my head again, pouting as I take notice of my friend’s hair. “Since when did you dye your hair?”
“I -oh. We went to the salon this morning,” she explained, gesturing with her thumb towards the closed door of the EXO studio, “But I’ll get to the details later, we’re waiting for you by the way.” she grins, taking one of my suitcases which I let her take gratefully.
"Hello kitty isn't that bad right?"
Haneul turned her head slightly to eye me, before breaking into a mischievous grin, "Nope, but purple is better."
