❝ D-9 Preview Chapter 01: In the Practice Room (Teaser) ❤
“And 5, 6, 7 8!” By now, I have the moves to our debut song memorized perfectly, but yet, I’m still not content. In fact, I could probably do the moves in my sleep. But despite it being my millionth time going through the routine, I wasn’t going to just stop at satisfactory. I was going for perfection, amazing, flawless, anything better than just average.
“Emily, you’re still lacking in energy.” a soft, melodious voice rang out beside, “Maybe you should just rest—”
“No.” I cut her off before she could even have a chance to finish her sentence. “I’m fine, DI.” I snap back at my friend, wringing out my tired wrists. “I’m just—” I pause suddenly, finally letting my breath —which I had been holding in for longing than I expected— my soft sigh, grabbing the attention of my over-concerned friend.
“Worried.” Diamond finished for me, her wide eyes almost threatening to pop out of their sockets. “Afraid to know what the world has to say about you.” to my surprise, a light sigh escapes from her lips as she gently takes my wrist, enveloping her hands in mine.
“Yeah.” I say softly, hating to admit the truth. Being the leader for my group, I tried my best to not reveal my weak side. In fact, at times I took care of my sisters more than I paid attention to my own well being. “I guess that I’m just… pressured about our debut.” I admit, attempting a soft laugh to ease the tension that hung heavily in the air. But my futile attempt to be light-hearted only came short when Diamond’s eyes seemed to dull slightly, losing it’s natural sparkle.
“You know what, you definitely do need to take a break.” Diamond says, flashing a quick, reassuring smile. Tugging on my hand, she sits me down on the ground, still keeping my worn hands in hers. She grabbed an extra water bottle, tossing it t
