A/N: Another Oneshot again….this time, it’s not a song-based but my pure imagination based on my love on libraries….and I practiced on my third person writing style in this….maybe the plot is too cliche but i juz wanted to write it down.... Hope u all will enjoy and plz drop a comment if u don’tmind….:D

There he comes again.

In his favourite grey pullover and a pair of dark jeans…

As usual, a few minutes before the closing time on Saturday….

But never in rush…always calm and kind of peaceful…

Then, in a moment, there will be a library card mentioning the name Eric Mun with his good looking small-sized photo and two or three

classic novels or self-improvement books on the counter that is in front of Hyesung.

Oh, no. He borrowed only a book of classic novel called “Wuthering Heights” last week.

Sometimes, Hyesung gets afraid of himself who memorizes everything about that guy called Eric. Even his favourite clothes, his taste of

books, his library member ID and of course his brief profile from the library membership application form.

He lives near the library and works at a finance company. He started as a member six months ago and he only comes on Saturday

evening in comfortable and casual clothes. Maybe he has to work only half-day on Saturdays. Most of the company employees come to

library after their work or on Sundays. But he strangely comes on Saturdays, not Sundays. Sunday is Hyesung’s off-day but the data on

his computer shows him that Eric does not come here and borrow books on Sundays.

Hyesung knows both his address and phone number but he has not had even the courage to start a light conversation after these six long

months, let alone to go around his home or call him.

Actually, they are still strangers. There may be some exchanges of smiles and greetings between them but they are only common

interactions between a library member and a library assistant. Nothing more.

Hyesung noticed him since the first time he visited the library and throughout these months, he has been kind of stalking him; searching

his data on library database, memorizing the kind of books he likes to read, figuring out his taste in clothes and his personality and

stealing glances at him now and then when he chooses books.

However, on the other hand, Eric dose not seem to take a notice of him more than a library assistant with black-framed glasses and dark

hair. Maybe he does not know even his name although Hyesung always puts his name badge on the left corner of his shirt.

He always comes in a few minutes before the library closes. He returns the books first and then he walks straightly to the shelves of

classic novels before turning his feet to the direction of the shelves of self-improvement books. The surprising thing is that he never

takes much time to choose books to borrow. As a bookworm himself, Hyesung knows how much it is difficult to choose books within a

few minutes. But, he returns back to the counter to register only after a few minutes and he is usually the last one that registers the books

to borrow before the library closes.

Today again, he enters the library at the usual time. Actually, Hyesung has been waiting this time nervously the whole day, knowing

today is Saturday and he will come as usual. Why has he been waiting nervously?

Because he has decided to start a conversation with him today no matter what.

Maybe even talking about the weather or talking about the books he will borrow. Anything will be ok. He just needs to start and then it

will go on with the flow. It may sound nothing much but for a shy person like Hyesung, it means a lot. At least, Eric will take a notice of

his being in the library.

Going step by step is the basic and this is the very BIG first step for him…..

Then, he sees Eric coming to Hyesung’s counter with two books on his hands. When he returned the books a while ago, Hyesung was too

busy with his thoughts on how to start a conversation when he comes back to borrow and did not even look properly at Eric.

Breathe slowly. Breathe. It will be fine.

Hyesung comforts himself and tries to relax. In a few seconds, there is a familiar Library Card with two books appearing in front of his

sight.

He counts 1 to 3 after scanning the barcodes on the books and the Library Card and before lifting his head to give them back to him.

 One….Two…..

“Am I the last?”

“Huh?”

Hyesung abruptly lifts his head and sees Eric looking at him with a small grin.

“I mean, am I the last one to register today?”

Hyesung’s mind suddenly goes blank and he does nothing but just stares at Eric. Only after a few seconds, he comes back to normal with

a red shade on his face and glances around the library.

“It seems so cause there’s no one else here.”

“Good.”

Hyesung gets confused because of his blunt comment. Good? What does he mean saying “Good”?

“So you are going home after this, Hyesung-shi?”

Hyesung gets flustered by hearing him calling his name and his sudden question about going home.

Maybe???

“Yes. So?”

“Can you give me some time? How about a cup of coffee?”

“Ah…It’s….”

“Oh…please don’t think wrong. I just…”

“Ah….it’s ok. I have no schedule so I think it’s fine.”

“Thank God.”

He only muttered in a low voice but Hyesung’s sharp ears managed to catch his words.

“But you gotta wait a while cause I have to collect my things and drop a note for tomorrow’s assistant.”

 “No problem. I’ll wait you outside. Take your time.”

“Ok.”

After finishing the things, Hyesung turns off the lights and locks the door before giving the keys to the security ahjusshi.

Then, he sees Eric standing beside the gate and when he approaches him, he turns his body and gives a gentle smile.

“Done with everything?”

“Yeah. We can go now.”

“There’s a good café I know around here. How about going there?”

“No problem. I’m ok.”

They start walking in a rather awkward silence till Eric breaks the ice.

“Ah…I forgot to introduce myself. I am Eric Mun.”

“You forgot I am working in the library where you’re a member of?”

“Ah…so you already know my name like I know yours.”

Hyesung blushes at his comment and knows nothing to say back. Thankfully, Eric does not seem to notice it and goes on walking.

Hyesung still cannot believe his ridiculously good luck. His crush for six months started asking him to have coffee? Oh, he surely did

save a country in his past life….

When they enter the café, there are not that many customers in the café and somehow, it gives a peaceful and warm vibe. They take the

table at the corner and even after their orders are delivered, they have not uttered a single word to each other.

“So, is there anything in asking me suddenly to have coffee with you?”

This time Hyesung breaks the ice first and Eric seems startled because of his straightforward question.

“Ah….I hope you wouldn’t be mad at me if I tell you.”

“……..”

“Actually, I noticed you since the first time I came to the library. When I came to search some facts for my project. I didn’t have any

intention to sign up as a member but…..but….I saw you behind the counter and I didn’t know myself why but I had a sudden urge to be a

member and see you regularly. I usually finish my work late on weekdays and the library has already been closed. And you don’t work

on Sundays. That’s why I come on Saturdays every week. Only to see you.”

Hyesung can feel that at the moment, his face is being like a tomato although there are happy and exciting butterflies inside him.

“But….you….you… borrow books as well, huh?”

“Ah….those books….. most of the times, I don’t pay attention to which books I am borrowing. I just go to the shelves that I can have a

good view to steal a glance at you working.”

“Oh…He was also glancing at me. How come I did not know?” Hyesung mutters in his head.

“Everytime I came to your counter, I tried to talk with you. But you’re always lowering your head and I don’t know how to start. But

today, I decided to have some guts and invited you to have coffee.”

“…….”

“Hyesung-shi.

“Huh?”

“Are you mad at me?”

“No…No….it’s not like that. I’m just digesting what you’ve said. You know, it’s too much to understand at once.”

“Sorry for my outburst. So, can you accept my feelings? And…of course…. I’m not asking you to return the feelings at once. You can

take your time to know me better.”

“Ah…It’s not that difficult to accept your feeling. But please give me some time cause I don’t know much about you.”

“Perfect acting! Although you already knew many things.” Hyesung compliments himself in mind.

“Of cause. That’s why I am telling you to take your time.”

“Thank you.”

Both of them awkwardly smile at each other before grabbing their own cups to take a sip of the not-so-warm-now coffee.

“I guess tomorrow’s your off-day, right?” Eric starts again.

“Yeah.”

“Me too. So, how about meeting up tomorrow? Are you ok?”

“I think so.”

“Let’s have some lunch together. I know a good Italian restaurant. You like Italian food?”

“I’m fine with anything. Meet in front of the restaurant?”

“It sounds good. I’ll text you the address.”

“Ok.”

“Ah….Hyesung-shi.”

“Yes?”

“I need your number to text you.”

“Oh….sorry. I forgot it.”

After exchanging the numbers, they go on chatting for the next hour and then it ends up as Eric walking Hyesung home and saying

goodbyes in front of his home.

Hyesung has just got out from the bathroom when he hears a message coming.

“I’m excited for tomorrow. :D”

That is all the message Eric sent. Hyesung smiles unconsciously and starts to text back.

Maybe it is nothing much but still a BIG first step forward, huh???
