Tears fell down Jae’s face as she read the letter in her hands.

After she finished reading it, she dropped the letter and began to cry.

“I’m sorry Tae…I didn’t mean to…”

Jae said to herself.

Onew looked at the crying Jae in front of him and felt like he was being stabbed.

“It isn’t your fault.”

Jae looked up, tears still streaming down her angelic face.

“If I hadn’t said those words to her when we were little, none of this would have happened.”

Jae and Onew looked at each other.

“I love you Jae. I always have.”

Jae looked at Onew.

She held out her hand.

“Wallet.”

Onew looked at Jae oddly.

“Wae?” He asked as he moved his hand to the back of his jeans pocket and took out his wallet.

Jae smiled at Onew and took it from him.

She sat down on her couch in her own apartment and was about to open it when she became really scared.

What if the picture inside isn’t her and Onew anymore?

Jae thought to herself.

But she had to know.

She had to know so she knew what she was going to do next.

She opened Onew’s wallet.

There, smiling widely was the picture that they had taken together when they had just gone out.

Jae stared at the picture and then felt Onew sit down next to her.

She turned to face Onew, his wallet still mid air.

“You still have this…?”

She asked quietly.

Onew smiled at Jae and nodded.

Jae turned back to the photo and looked at it.

“Wae?”

Jae suddenly asked.

“Why didn’t you just tell me the truth when you knew about it?”

Jae turned to face Onew, putting his wallet back in his hands, waiting for an answer.

“Because I didn’t want to hurt you.”

Jae suddenly stood up.

“You hurt me more by not telling me before!”

Onew stood up.

“I know! But I just-“

Onew stopped speaking and looked down at the ground.

“Just what?” Jae asked.

Onew looked back up.

“I was weak. I didn’t want to hurt you! I didn’t even want to tell you that I was going to marry your best friend!”

Jae stared at Onew.

“That isn’t the way to protect someone.”

Onew hung his head.

“I know. I was weak. I already said.”

Jae looked at Onew.

She smiled at him and then walked up to him and suddenly, she was hugging him.

“I’ve missed you so much Onew oppa…You have no idea how I’ve cried for the past years.”

Onew listened to Jae speak.

He hugged her back.

“I’ve been stopping myself to go looking for you and quitting my career for the past few years too.”

The broke apart and looked at each other.

“I love you.”

-3 YEARS-

“JAE! ONEW-SSI!”

Jae and Onew walked out of Sydney airport hand in hand, their luggage behind them.

They looked at each other and smiled.

When they walked out, they saw their best friend there, standing at the gate, waving her hand frantically with her one year husband.

“TAE!” Jae let go of her luggage and of Onew’s hand and ran to hug her friend even though there was a gate in between them.

“Come on! Let’s get going!” Onew said.

Jae turned around and pouted.

“Why won’t you let us hug! Jealous?” Tae teased.

Onew blushed.

Everyone laughed.

It’s been a year since they’ve last seen each other.

They’ve been in contact for the past three years for at least once a week and unlimited emails.

“Come on already! We’re blocking the entrance!” Onew said to Jae and she pouted.

She quickly walked down the hall and towards Tae who was already waiting for her.

The hugged each other.

Jae suddenly looked up at saw one of her friends from her old high school in Sydney: Henry Kwok.

She let go of Tae and walked up to him.

“Yah! Henry! You had better be nice to Tae or you’re going to be so dead!”

Everyone laughed.

“Ne!” Henry said, putting his arm around Tae and pecking her on the lips.

Onew followed suit.

Onew and Henry was the first to break apart.

“Come on! Let’s go!”

Tae and Jae pouted and the boys blushed.

But in the end, the four of them walked out of the airport, TaeJin and JaeSong in the middle, Onew and Henry on either side of their wife.

Life.

Was.
