The Spring of Past Memories
Kyuhyun's eyes travel lazily up and down the man standing before him, framed by the door.
The man looks good in a suit, he muses, before clearing his throat.
"You're late." Kyuhyun nods towards the digital clock occupying the cream coloured wall.
"By one minute." Sungmin grits his teeth, willing himself to be more patient.
"If you're going to be working for me, you better change that attitude of yours." Amusement pulls at the corners of Kyuhyun's lips.
Sungmin bites his cheeks, not trusting himself to open his mouth in front of what he considers a complete of a man.
"What do-- would you like me to do."
Kyuhyun tilts his head down and an eyebrow, widening his eyes expectantly.
"What would you like me to do, sir." Sungmin bites his lip to avoid more profanities slipping out.
"Much better." Kyuhyun gives a satisfied nod. "Now, why don't we start by you telling me your name? I only remember you yelling and hitting me yesterday."
Sungmin takes a deep breath. No way was this bastard knowing his real name. It's not like he had to fill in an employment form, anyway. In fact, he didn't even go through human resources. What this tall man wants, he gets.
"My name is Hyukjae... sir. Lee Hyukjae." Sungmin decides to use his best friend's name. I'll buy you food later, Hyukjae.
"So... Hyukjae." Kyuhyun admits he is a bit disappointed upon hearing the shorter man's name. Although this Hyukjae and the Sungmin he remembers have certain similar attributes, it would have been too good to be true if the shorter man was Sungmin.
Sungmin stiffens at the lack of honorifics.
"Hyukjae, you will always refer to me as Sir." Kyuhyun starts counting on his fingers.
"You will not enter my office without knocking. You will work as my personal assistant. You will get me whatever I want, be it a drink from next door or food from another city. You will not talk back to me. Oh, and you will give me your cellphone number for any after-hour requests."
Sungmin's eyes widen at the last demand.
"A--after hour requests... sir?"
Kyuhyun looks up at Sungmin, his face impatient.
"Of course, Hyukjae. You're my personal assistant. You should be accessible to me all day, every day. And that includes weekends."
Sungmin's jaw falls by a few inches.
"This-- this is ridiculous! I never agreed to this!"
An evil smirk crept across Kyuhyun's lips. "So you're saying I can demolish your parent's business?"
Sungmin's mouth opens and closes like a goldfish, torn between loyalty towards his parents and the tall man's almost ludicrous demands.
His mind flashes back to the joy of his mother's face that morning.
"No. I'll do it."
"Excellent. Now, Kyujin will get you some new suits. I expect all my employees to look spotless."
Sungmin looks down at his suit. "What's wrong with my own suit?"
Kyuhyun clears his throat.
Sungmin bites his lips again. "What's wrong with my own suit, sir?"
"Is it made by Caraceni?"
Sungmin shakes his head. He assumes it's some brand worth more than 1000 of their pancakes.
"Tom Ford?"
Sungmin shakes his head again.
"There you go. Answered it yourself. Now, follow Kyujin and he will sort you out. Report back to my office in half an hour, sharp. Understood?"
Sungmin nods. "Yes."
Kyuhyun rubs his temples. "How many times--"
"Yes, sir."
As promised, the next chapter within 24 hours!
