Animal Inside
Suho watched from the table in corner.
'He'll have to come in some time.'
The cafe was busy already: Jeah bustled around filling orders and Kori answered phone calls between Yixing's feeble attempts to reconcile.
She slammed the phone down. "Yixing, I am working."
He huffed and stomped out the door past Kyungsoo, who'd just poked his head in to look around.
"Hyung." He waved and took a seat across from Suho.
"What are you doing here?" The leader asked.
"What do you think I'm doing in a cafe?" Kyungsoo raised his eyebrows. "What's up with Yixing lately?"
"He's just stressed." Suho tapped the side of his cup. "Between the new guy showing up and he still hasn't told Kori."
Kyungsoo blinked his giant eyes. "You mean they've been together six years and she doesn't know?"
Suho nodded silently.
"Maybe she's just dumb." The junior nodded and received a slap in the back of the head.
"Don't say that about an alpha's mate." Suho barked.
"But he's not even an alpha." Kyungsoo said daringly. He softened. "Why did you offer that nomad Yixing's place?"
"Because I knew he wouldn't take it." He smirked.
Kyungsoo shook his head. "Then why would you-"
"There you are!" Tao interjected. "The pack is assembling."
Having been interrupted, Kyungsoo rolled his eyes. "I'm coming."
Bells over the door tinkled and the cafe fell silent.
"Oh hi Kris." Kori looked up from her work. "I'll go get Jeah."
"No." He said shortly. "I'll just take my coffee to go."
Kori looked at him sideways and went to fill his order. Kris gripped the counter and watched Suho out of the corner of his vision.
When Kori returned, he snatched the drink and thanked her before whirling around and slamming into another customer.
"Sorry." He mumbled and bolted out the door.
"Jerk." The customer muttered.
"Are you okay?" Kyungsoo rushed to her side with Tao in tow.
"Yeah I'm fine." She shook her head and looked down to assess the damage.
"Here." Tao took a napkin and began wiping the coffee from the front her jacket.
His hand suddenly jerked back as if he'd been shocked.
"Zitao?" Kyungsoo took the napkin from his hand and blotted the stain.
"It's fine." She grinned slightly. "Thanks for your help."
Kyungsoo bowed his head and dragged a shaking Tao outside.
Suho watched with inquisitive eyes as Kori apologized profusely, gifting the customer with a free latte.
"Thank you but it's really alright." She bowed before leaving.
Suho followed. "What's your name?"
"Who wants to know?" She said over her shoulder.
"Are you really going to challenge me?" The alpha chuckled.
She spun on her heel and marched up to him, her face inches from his.
"Byul." She said through gritted teeth. "Just Byul."
"Well Byul," Suho smirked. "I think we need to have a talk."
