There they stood.

Both eyes trembled but for two different reasons.

Guns pointed at each others heart.

 

Never did they think this day would come.

 

 

- 1 month earlier - 

 

 

The two walked into the room with a smile plastered in their face.

“HERE ARE THE HEROES OF THE DAY!” Onew grinned as they passed by.

 

The people in the room clapped.

 

“Yah! Why’d you gotta do that?” Minho asked a bit flustered.

“How are you guys such great partners?” Jessica asked.

Yuri simply winked, “It’s a secret.”

 

“How about a celebratory dinner?” Minho nudged Yuri.

“As long as you’re paying” Yuri nudged him back before walking to her desk.

 

Minho and Yuri worked at a secret service.

And they have just completed their recent mission.

The two have been partners since the beginning and since then, they have been invincible.

 

Minho waited patiently at the table he reserved.

And it didn’t take long until Yuri came.

 

It wasn’t in a fancy restaurant.

They weren't wearing fancy clothing.

 

They were in a pizzeria wearing casual clothing.

 

Everything was just write.

The atmosphere was lively, the food was great and they both looked exceptionally good.

 

“What’s new Yul?” Minho asked.

Yuri put her pizza down before clearing his throat.

 

“Well… you’re my partner so I really trust you.” she started off.

Minho took another bite of his pizza.

“And as my partner, you’re supposed to help and understand me, right?” Yuri asked.

Minho chewed with his eyes brow raised.

 

“What is it Yul?” he was dying of curiosity.

Yuri gulped, “I’m seeing someone.”

Minho’s eyes widened and immediately put his pizza down.

 

“I know, I know. It’s against the rules, but I just couldn’t help myself.” she looked down.

 

Minho wiped his mouth and slumped on his chair.

“What’s his name?” he asked.

 

Yuri looked up at Minho who has a serious look on his face.

“If you’re going to do a background check on him, I already did. His profile is clean.” Yuri defended.

 

“What’s his name?” Minho repeated.

“Kai.” 

 

Minho waited.

 

“Kim Jongin. Kai for short.” Yuri sighed in defeat.

 

And with that, Minho walked out.

 

 

- 2 days later -

 

 

“Something’s not adding up.” 

Minho played with his pencil as he stared at Kai’s profile on his computer.

 

“No one’s profile is this clean.”

Minho spoke to himself.

 

Just then, Yuri came in.

“Are you busy?” she asked.

 

Minho quickly switched his computer to sleep.

 

“No.” he sat up straight.

“Well, to keep your mind at ease, I want you to meet Kai.” she bit her bottom lip.

Minho seemed interested. “Ok.”

 

“Really?” Yuri brightened up.

Minho raised a brow.

“Okay, okay! Tonight, 7pm. At the Italian restaurant across my place.” Yuri informed him before heading to the door.

But before she opened it she looked back at Minho.

 

“And try to be… nice.” she suggested.

 

Minho smirked.

 

 

- That night - 

 

“He’s here.” Yuri held Kai’s hands as Minho walked in.

Yuri stood up and introduced Kai and Minho to each other.

 

They shook their hands firmly.

But there was something in their eyes that tells they didn’t like each other.

 

After they ordered there was an awkward silence.

“Nice tattoo you got there.” Minho pointed out at the tattoo on Kai’s next.

 

Kai touched it.

Yuri looked at it.

 

“Thanks. I got it when I was in high school.” Kai explained.

 

Minho took a sip of his wine before excusing himself.

 

Once Minho got to the toilet, he quickly searched for Kai’s tattoo.

BINGO.

 

Minho sat back down and eyed Kai the entire time.

The tension between the two during the whole course of dinner did not disappear.

 

“Yul, I’ll drop you home.” Minho offered.

Yuri already knew Minho evaluated Kai so she agreed and said goodbye to Kai.

 

Once they reached the inside of Yuri’s apartment Minho spoke up.

“Leave him.”

 

Yuri looked at Minho.

“Excuse me?”

 

“You heard me.”

 

“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with him. And I promise I wont let my relationship with him get in the way of our missions.” Yuri defended.

 

“He’s no good Yuri.” Minho handed her his phone.

 

Yuri looked at it.

 

“So what if he has the same tattoo as the guys we just went up against?” Yuri gave him his phone back. “Anyone can have that tattoo. It’s just a bunch of stars.”

 

Minho knew that Yuri wasn’t being logical. 

Liking someone has that effect.

 

“Yuri, wake up. He’s no good.” 

 

“What do you have against him anyways?!” Yuri snapped.

 

Minho stood still.

 

“Just leave. I don’t want to talk to you right now.” Yuri pointed to the door.

 

Minho didn’t say another word and just left.

 

 

- 1 month later - 

 

 

“Yuri hasn’t been in the office for a while now. Is she sick?” Jessica asked Minho.

Minho simply shrugged.

But inside, he was really worried.

 

Later that day, he made his way to Yuri’s apartment.

Before he could ring the doorbell, a picture of Yuri tied up was sent on his phone.

It was later followed up by a text.

 

“26th Street. At the abandoned church. NOW.” 

 

Minho spent no time running to his car and driving to where Yuri was.

He stood infront of the old church.

Took a deep breath, clenched his fist and entered.

 

All he could hear was sobbing sounds.

 

“Yuri-ah! Where are you?!” he screamed.

But the sobbing noise only got louder.

 

Soon, Kai appeared with a weak Yuri in his hands.

“I…I’m s-s-sorry.” Yuri stuttered.

 

“Y-Yul.” Minho weakened but quickly regained composure.

Kai smirked.

 

“Yuri, yuri, yuri. You should have listened to your partner.” Kai spoke slyly.

 

“What do you want?” Minho asked firmly.

“Give me back the files you stole from my father’s computer.” Kai answered firmly.

 

“I can’t.” Minho stood his ground.

Kai took out a gun from behind and pointed at Yuri.

“Then your partner will die.” Kai looked up only to see Minho already holding a gun up.

 

“The files aren’t in our hands anymore.” Minho spoke calmly.

“Then one you retrieve it.” Kai answered firmly back. “You’re the one who has the authority to retrieve it.”

 

Minho stood his ground.

 

Kai handed the gun to Yuri.

 

“Kill him.”

Yuri pointed it at Minho.

 

“Y-yul…” Minho sighed out in disbelief.

 

Kai nudged Yuri.

“DO IT! HE WON’T KILL YOU!” 

 

Yuri’s eyes and hands were shaking.

 

“I’m so sorry Minho… he has my brother.”

 

Kai took out another gun and pointed it at Yuri.

 

“Shoot him or I’ll shoot you.” Kai warned.

 

Minho slowly put his gun down.

“Do it Yul.”

 

Yuri shook his head.

 

“He’ll kill your brother.” Minho reminded him.

 

“B-But you’ll die.” tears were spilling at Yuri’s eyes.

 

“If you don’t shoot me. You and your brother will both die.”

 

Yuri shook her head. “If I die, you can save my brother for sure.”

 

Minho sighed at Yuri’s stubbornness.

 

“I… I… I love you Minho.” tears were rolling down her eyes like waterfalls.

 

“YURI STOP BEING SO IRRATIONAL AND SHOOT ME!”

 

“I..Irrational?” she whispered.

 

Minho knew what he had to do. 

 

“You dying for me would mean nothing cause I don’t love you. After you die, what will happen to your brother, the guilt will haunt me forever.” Minho lied.

 

“And if that file gets in to the wrong hands, everyone is going to go after YOU. If I die, no one is going to get hurt. No one is going to blame you.” he continued.

 

“I.. I.. I..” Yuri tried to find words.

 

“JUST SHOOT ME!” Minho yelled.

 

Kai finally realised that Minho will never back down.

And that there’s a possibility that Yuri would actually shoot him.

 

He can’t let that happen.

If Yuri shoot Minho, they will never retrieve the files.

Kai’s plan A backfired.

 

Now it’s plan B.

 

At that point, Yuri knew what to do.

And she knew that even tho the guilt will haunt her forever.

Minho will be at fault if she doesn’t shoot him.

Minho might end up dead at the end of the day.

 

Kai reached for Yuri’s gun.

But before he could.

Yuri has already fired it.

 

Two gun shoots were fired that afternoon.

One at Minho.

The other was at Kai.

 

Yuri was the only one who remained standing.

Her hands shook vigorously that she dropped the gun.

 

Her knees weakened as she reached Minho.

“Pabo yah!” she cried as she sees her wounded partner.

 

“So you love me?” he smiled lightly.

 

Yuri suddenly stopped.

Minho sat up but groaned in pain as his wound on his shoulder continued bleeding.

“Well it seems realistic.” Minho smirked.

 

“Good aim tho.” he gave his partner a thumbs up.

 

Yuri was still in shook.

 

“This was just a partner test. I found out the moment Kai gave the gun to you.” 

 

Tears were still falling on her cheeks.

 

“Well this was interesting.” Minho chuckled.

“I got an injury as well as a confession at the same night.” he pinched her cheeks.

 

“DON’T YOU EVER DO THAT EVER AGAIN!” Yuri hit Minho again while sobbing crazily.

 

Minho pulled her in for a hug “Nado… Saranaghaeyo Yuri-ah.”

Yuri looked up at Minho.

“Jinja?! You’re not playing a prank?!” she asked.

 

Minho pulled her in for a kiss.

 

"Did you really think I would let something bad happen to you?" Minho her hair.

Yuri was still sobbing.

"Baby, don't cry. My love will definitely protect you in the future." he reassured her.

 

I guess that’s why we make a great partner.

Because we both loved each other.

Although our confession to each other was more complicated than each other.

That’s what makes our love special.
