You slept well and you got out of bed to get ready for school.

While pulling on your socks, your parents inform you that you would be riding to school with them. They missed taking you to school and you smile at them, nodding.

“Okay, but I’m leaving soon. I have to put up posters before school starts.”

Your parents were ecstatic, driving you. They finally felt like a family again. You couldn’t help but agree with them.

They both kissed you goodbye and wished you good luck in school.

You wave as you watch them drive away and you smile, not feeling quite as lonely anymore.

As you step foot into school, you headed straight toward the library to print out all the work that you had done the night before.

The school was almost empty, so there were none of your fan boys around. Listening to the silence of the hallways, usually filled with gossip, comforted you, knowing that in half an hour, it would be filled with the students from the upper class flaunting their new designer items and gossiping about their friends or their enemies.

You walk through the school putting up posters for the auditions of the talent show. It would be held the next week and you were in the process of finding judges.

Flyers were given to the teachers to put in their classes and the sign-up sheet was put in the entrance of the school.

Students were starting to arrive and you quickly finish talking to the principal about using the auditorium to hold the auditions. He agreed but you now had to find somewhere to hold the actual talent show, since that night that you wanted, was booked for a math competition. Reluctantly, you nodded with the agreement and looked at the time. There was fifteen minutes before class was in session.

Proud of your work, you finally step foot into your classroom and wait as the teacher arrived.

Your friends greeted you and you smiled at them. They asked you how your night was and you told them that your parents were home.

“Really? That’s great! How did their deal go in Hong Kong?” Soomi wondered.

“I think they said that it went great…I was…not paying attention.” You scratch the back of your head guiltily and smile awkwardly at your friends.

“Ehh, if my parents were home and all they talked about was business, I wouldn’t listen either!” Ah Ri patted your back and you laugh at her statement.

“Are they going to go to the fundraiser?” Yoohye took your hand and looked into your eyes.

Pulling your hand away, awkwardly, you smile at her, saying, “I think so…”

Right then, HyunA walked in. She glanced at you and you two shared a knowing smile confusing all your friends. You shake your head at them and you head snapped up to the sound of the kings of your school joking around, right outside your class.

You caught Myungsoo’s eyes, and he looked at you tenderly to which you avoided. Sungyeol caught the look and bit back his bitter comments. He, instead, talked to Hoya about the posters that he helped you create.

Listening, you learned that Hoya had found one of his old dance teacher that was willing to judge the talent show. That brought a smile to your face, thinking about one less person that you had to find.

The little moment of bliss suddenly disappeared when you remembered that you were not allowed to use the auditorium for the talent show.

This was going to be a long day…

“Let’s go shopping!!” Yoohye was always the one who was the most excited for events.

You and your friends were trying to discuss plans for after school and you sigh as you think about the talent show.

I don’t even know if this show is going to happen…

“I can’t…the auditions are soon, and the swim team is meeting tonight.” Your friends don’t hide their disappointment, but they promise to get you a dress that would suit you. Smiling, you thank them and decide to take a walk to get fresh air.

Your parents were told about the ball and they keep encouraging you to go with them, and you told them that you were already going. They were informed by Hyesoo that you were asked by Woo Bin and his mother to attend with them. Your parents were ecstatic because they would be reunited with their family.

Blissfully, you made your way to the cafeteria with your friends. Your thoughts wander back to the night before.

One person occupied your mind all day and you couldn’t help but wonder why. Lee Sungyeol was your ex-boyfriend’s best friend…but you told me not to give up.

Why?

You couldn’t figure it out yourself.

Why did he decide that he wanted to protect you…you of all people?

What made him so special that he completely took over your thoughts?

Glancing over at Infinite’s table, you see the tall male listening to a conversation between their leader and their maknae. Their table was laughing at the quarreling about lemon candy.

But right as you were about to look away, the male glance at you and you two made eye-contact.

His alluring gaze kept your before you saw the corner of his lips twitch, threatening to break into a wide smile. Breaking the gaze, you felt your cheeks heating up and look back down at your food. Sighing, you pick at your food again.

Soomi noticed the little exchange between you and Sungyeol and questions were raised in her head. Though she wanted to ask you about it, she wanted you to tell her anything when you were ready. She pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind and continued talking about the superficial things that Yoohye and Ah Ri were talking about.

Your mind drifted throughout the conversation. You had no idea what your friends were talking about and frankly, you were bored of listening. Instead of talking to your friends, you wondered about the auditions for the talent show.

They were seriously stressing you out.

Sungyeol and Hoya suddenly came up to you and your friends, surprising you a bit.

“Hey…” Hoya scratched his head nervously at the stares and glares of everyone in the cafeteria. “Can we talk?”

“Why would those two talk to our queen?!”

“What do they want?”

“Are they crazy? Look at the glares from her fan boys!”

“Why would they talk to her?! She’s going to be seduced!”

There was so many people whispering, and you glance around. With a hesitant nod, you followed the pair as they led you out of the lunch room.

As you were walking behind them, your mind drifted back to Sungyeol’s confession, once again.

You stare up at the walls, trying to distract yourself from your own thoughts that were taking over. In a daze, you didn’t realize that the two of them stopped and you ran into Sungyeol’s chest.

With heat quickly rising to your face, you apologize immediately, and ask the two what they want to talk about.

“Well, we just need two more judges for the actual talent show.” You nod at them, saying that you accidently heard as they were talking this morning.

“But…there is one thing we need to add to our list.”

They looked at you curiously, and you tell them that you need to find a place to hold the talent show. Hoya’s eyes brighten, telling you that he had the perfect place. You nod at him gratefully, and he gets on his phone right away, leaving you and Sungyeol all alone.

An awkward silence fell over the both of you and you glance up at him.

“Is something wrong?” You saw the look in his eyes. They were…dull.

“No.”

“Oppa…I want to tell you something…”
