"The log base 10 of x is..." Junhong mutters under his breath as his pencil scratches furiously against his paper. He needs to finish these problems, or else his mom won't let him go hang out with Yongguk—

"!" he hisses, as the tip of his pencil snags on the cheap paper and rips his math homework straight across. " my life," he moans, dropping his head onto his books, wincing slightly at the impact.

He's so done with life.

"Junhong-ah."

"What," he says, his voice muffled by the books. "Hyung, why are you in my room?"

Junhong can't see him, but he thinks Yongguk's probably shrugging, and he hears a weight, likely Yongguk's , pressing into his bed.

"You mom let me up," Yongguk says. "You look pretty beat."

Junhong tilts his head to the side, his eyes narrowed as he glares pitifully at the older. "I hate math."

"So do I, kid," Yongguk chuckles. "That's why I'm in the music industry."

"But I wanna do that too," Junhong whines, pouting. "Why do I have to waste my time on this?"

"Because the world is kinda screwed up," Yongguk says, and Junhong likes that the older doesn't mince words and speaks his mind. "But it's something you gotta do. I had to do it, too. My parents wouldn't let me pursue my dreams until I did well in school. So just keep it up, kid, and you'll be fine."

Yongguk smiles wryly as he picks up the other half of Junhong's homework and tapes the two half together. "How about we shoot some hoops for a bit, relieve some stress? Then you can come back and finish the last problem."

"Sounds awesome," Junhong replies, springing to his feet.

"Where'd all that energy come from?" Yongguk teases, reaching up slightly to ruffle the younger's hair. "Come on, Himchan's waiting outside too."

"Himchannie-hyung is gonna play?" Junhong asks, raising an eyebrow. He'd never known the 'pretty boy' to ever want to break a sweat.

Yongguk laughs, low and throaty. "Nah, he's just gonna ref. I had to bribe him with tickets to a concert next week, but whatever."

The sun hits Junhong's face once he steps outside, and he closes his eyes and lets the warmth soak in for a few moments before bounding after Yongguk again.

He'd just have to hold onto his dreams until he could put them into place.
