Chapter 9
Seeing You Again (And We Meet Again Spinoff!)“So Eli’s moving back.” Jason stirs his iced coffee with a thin black straw. “How do you feel about this?”
“Sad, of course.” I reply, mopping up my tears with a napkin. Thank god I wore waterproof eyeliner today. Somehow I saw this meltdown coming, due to the fact that I end up sobbing every time I see Eli. “I can’t believe he’s leaving only a year after he came back. I so long for him-,”
My face turns a fiery shade of crimson after I realize what I just said.
“You waited for him?” Jason arches an eyebrow playfully. “Hmm, I see. Are you sure there’s nothing more than friendship going on between you two?”
“I’m positive,” I snap. “Eli barely notices me. He always argues with me and gets mad at me for no reason. Plus he’s kind of a jackass. Why would I like him? Why would he like me? I see no-nothing- connection- you know what I mean!” I sputter indignantly.
Jason whistles, shaking his head slowly. “You are so head-over-heels for him.”
“Wha- no I’m not! What makes you say that?!”
“Trust me, Chelsea, I’ve been in your position before. My boyfriend and I were friends for so long-,”
“Wait.” I tilt my head. “Your boyfriend?”
“Yeah, I have a boyfriend.” Jason crosses his arms, looking a little defensive. “So?”
“No, it’s totally cool!” I exclaim, shaking my hands. “I just didn’t know you were in a relationship. Plus… I- I thought that-,”
“-I was hitting on you?” He finishes my sentence, an amused expression on his face. Jason relaxes his stance, looking more comfortable. “It’s called trying to er you into a deal with my studio. Which is the best studio in all of Los Angeles. Just saying.”
“Yeah, yeah.” I cough, attempting to draw attention away from my blazing face. “I’m really sorry, Jason.”
“It’s alright.” He gives me a warm smile. “Now, back to my story. I thought that my boyfriend hated me at first, but it turns out that he’d liked me for years. He just didn’t know how to express his feelings.”
“But Eli’s fine with hitting on other girls. Why can’t he notice me?” I huff.
“AHA!” Jason slams his hand on the table, startling all the customers sitting around us. “You just admitted that you liked him!”
My jaw drops. “W-Wait no hang on! It’s a mis… oh my god. Okay, fine, I said it. I like Eli. I like him a lot.”
“I knew it.” Jason leans back in his chair, a satisfied smirk on his face. “It’s time you did something to get him.”
