That Wretched Elevator
Meet My Boss
The confines of Liu Advertising was a grace to behold. The sleek interior was a flourish of white and marble. The walls were extricately white that one can be blinded by looking at them for too long. The marbled tiles were so polished, that all of those who stepped on them were greeted with their reflections. Two pillars also stood outside the building.
A limo halted itself in front of these two pillars. Two guards opened its doors, revealing a smartly dressed belladonna and an eccentric young lady with her rough and y tousled blonde hair. The former took her phone in her trench pocket and politely excused herself to receive a call. On the other end of the limo, Amber looked amused, whistling at the sight of her uncle's hard earned money. She stared at the chauffeur who gave her belongings to what seemed like a bellboy. She started to follow the bellboy but the chauffeur waved his hands as a sign of protest, "Anio. Your room."
"Oooh. You mean this building here has a bedroom?" She placed her hands as if to salute, but only to gaze from the bottom up to the 20th storey of her uncle's workplace. "Give me one thing this building doesn't have."
"A proper waste bin and a nice powder room."
Miss Jung Soojung was apparently finished with her call and was now standing in front of Amber. "Miss Liu, your uncle wishes to see you as immediately as possible. He says there are some serious matters he wishes to discuss with you."
Amber smirked, "What is it now? Don't tell me he's killing himself with work that he forgot to water the plants I gave him? He's always doing those kinds of stuff. I think it's time to tell him that those plants are plastic."
"No, Miss Liu," Soojung smiled in spite of trying to act formal. She cleared , "He says he will explain this situation to you in person. Follow behind me, please."
Soojung walked as briskly as she could with a grinning Amber behind.
They both entered the elevator. Soojung kept looking at her watch while Amber was being the complete dork that she was.
"Uhh, Miss Liu, what seems to be the matter?" Soojung looked at her back to see Amber behind her, acting confused.
"What?"
"What are you doing?"
"I'm not doing anything, Miss Jung."
"What are you doing back there?"
"Following behind you."
"Why are you following-" She gave a momentary silence, then said, "Never mind."
Amber e side of her lips upward as if to snicker but chose not to. "Hey Miss Jung. Remember what you said awhile ago about my uncle being too hard on you?"
"I never said anything--" She gasped but hid it with her hands. "I thought we were okay with that."
"I won't tell him if you do me one thing," she crossed her arms.
Soojung sensed that she was being tested and didn't back down, "Miss Liu, I am your guide, your uncle's secretary and also his trusted confidante. I will not allow any mischief acted upon me."
"No. I'm just asking you to do one thing," She did her toothy grin again which brought Soojung an unsettling feeling in her stomach. Maybe I ate too much spicy noodles again, she thought.
"Okay, what is it?"
Amber Liu leaned closer to her, until her face was only a breath away. Soojung held her breath and closed her eyes. This girl!? What is she doing? She wanted to slap Amber but her body wouldn't budge. Her heart was pounding hard on her chest; Like anytime, it could push through her rib cage. She gulped and waited for the inevitable.
Until the elevator rang its tune, and opened its doors.
Amber turned her head, and proclaimed "Oh we're here! Maybe I'll tell you later." She patted Soojung's head and hurried off. "Which side do I go?"
Soojung pivoted to face her. She glared at first and pointed right. The girl scrambled to where she directed.
"She's going to be the heir of Liu Advertising?" Soojung said to herself. "I think I need a lawyer..."
"And some aspirins." As she rubbed her temples and walked out of that wretched elevator.

Also, I made a slight blunder in the foreword's section. Amber wasn't the cousin but the NIECE. Sorry.
