Recap:

Kibum gently pulled away from me, and kissed me on the forehead. Then he left silently.

I sat there, wiping away my tears.

“Boo!” Someone yelled. I jumped, and turned around. It was Sungmin. I swallowed hard, and forced a smile. “Sungmin…” I said.

Sungmin gave me a reassuring smile. The ‘killer smile.’ Of course, Kibum’s smile would beat his by a land slide. But I still couldn’t help but feel my heart beat a little faster, and feel a little  more special when he smiled that smile. “Hey, don’t force a smile. You can cry as much as you want in front of me. Did you break up with…?”

I slowly shrugged my shoulders. Sungmin gave me a confused look. “I asked him if he loved me and he asked if he said no would I break up with him and go to you…” Tears started to appear again. “And then he just. Kissed me and left.” I looked up at Sungmin. “What could that mean?”

Sungmin smiled to himself. “Maybe…it was a goodbye kiss?”

I didn’t react at all. Why was I not surprised? Because Kibum was probably bored of me. He was too good for me, and he was probably being nice when he asked me out. I was just too stupid to ever realize before.

“Maybe I should move on…” I mumbled.

“You should!” Sungmin shouted, surprising me. He cleared his throat. “I mean, I’ve told you before, Jieun.  I really do like you. I think I might even be falling in love with you. I’d treat you better then Kibum. I’d treat you for what you’re worth.” I couldn’t help but notice how much passion he had in his eyes. “Maybe you should try and move on…”

He was right. But I had to make sure first. I had to make sure Kibum really didn’t want me. “I’ll give you my answer…today after school.” I told him. He gave me a reassuring smile and nodded. Sungmin may be a flirt, but his heart is really kind and warm. Any girl would be lucky to be with him. 

We both went back to class. He had science alone, while I had math with Kibum and Yoona. It was the last period of the day and that was when I would ask Kibum.

I walked into the classroom. This was the only class where we had free seating. I took my seat in my normal place, next to Kibum except Kibum had not entered yet. When he did, he came in with Yoona and they seemed to be in deep conversation. He looked really happy.

They even sat down together which made me extremely hurt. He didn’t even look at me once.

He was too interested in Yoona.

For the whole period I couldn’t concentrate because I was watching Kibum and Yoona pass notes to each other. He had never done that to me.

When class ended I grabbed Kibum by the wrist before he could leave. Kibum looked at Yoona who nodded her head. It seemed as if Kibum was asking for her permission to talk to me.

…just like a boyfriend would do with his girlfriend if another girl wanted to talk to him.

“What is it?” he asked, coldly.

“T-today at lunch…when you just left…did that mean…were you…breaking up with me?”

Kibum lifted an eyebrow. He crouched down to become eye level with me. “Listen. I never said I did, okay?” He patted my shoulder and he left. Again.

But still, I was happy. He didn’t break up with me!

I left and found Sungmin’s classroom. He was still packing his things to leave for the day. “Sungmin!” I called happily. He looked up wearily. I ignored it, because I had to tell him the good news. Before I could speak he said, “Seeing as you’re happy, you guys didn’t break up right?”

“Yup!” I said, smiling brightly.

“Oh well did he say anything about Yoona?” I shook my head. “I didn’t ask.” I told him.

“Well, ask him to explain this.” He took out his phone and showed me a picture. I gasped. It was a picture of Yoona giving Kibum a kiss on the cheek. You could clearly see her lips touching his cheek.

I felt myself fall apart. My knees grew weak and I fell on the floor. “I saw this a few days ago. Everyone knows about it. I didn’t want you to be hurt so I tried to get you to break up with him on your own.” He whispered. I brought my knees together, and my lips began to whimper. 

Kibum may have been cold, thoughtless, ignorant…he may have been all of those, but he was not unfaithful. That was the one thing that told me he really loved me. Because if he had not he would have gone to another girl by now. That was why seeing him with Yoona made me become so scared of losing him.

But he was cheating! Everyone knew except for me. I bet I looked so stupid. I felt so humiliated…

“Sungmin. I think I’ll give you a chance-“

“YESSSS!” He roared. I smiled at his childishness. He was so silly! Was he THAT happy I was going out with me?

The next day, I woke up earlier then usual to go to Sungmin’s house. Thankfully his house was walking distance. I didn’t want to bump into Kibum. Since he didn’t know I knew he was cheating on me he would probably come and pick me up again today.

I rang the door bell to his house. He didn’t come out so I called him. “Hello?” Sungmin answered groggily. “Oppa! Are you STILL in bed?! Get ready, and come out now! I’m waiting in front of your house!”

“Wait, WHAT?! JIEUN?!! I was going to go pick you up! Hold on five minutes! I’ll be right there!” He hung up and I giggled. After 5 minutes a fresh clean Sungmin walked out.

“I was going to pick you up~” Sungmin whined as we began to walk to his car, his arm wrapped around my shoulder.

“Well if I hadn’t called you we would have been late!”

“Nah~ this is the time I normally wake up.”

“What?! You only take five minutes to get ready?!”

“Why, impressed that I could get this” he hand motioned to his face, “in just 4 minutes?”  I was indeed impressed, but I wasn’t going to admit it. “You wish!” I said, sticking my tongue out.

He held open the car door for me. He was such a gentlemen. I hopped in.

“So, why didn’t you let me pick you up?”

“Cuz. Kibum doesn’t know that I know that he’s cheating on me, and he’d come to pick me up like any other day. I don’t want to see him right now…” My chest hurt. I used to have dreams about my wedding with Kibum, but I guess now I can dream about having a wedding with Sungmin. He’d make a handsome groom…

We arrived at school and went to class. Kibum was no where to be seen. A part of me told me that he was still waiting for me at my house, or even looking for me now; but another part of me told me he would never do anything like that for me. Maybe for Yoona, but not for me.

I saw Yoona enter the classroom alone. Class started and Kibum had still not come. I was starting to get worried. Around 30 minutes into class Kibum walked in. Sungmin was pinching my cheek while I was telling him to stop. Kibum looked out of breath and anxious. His eyes went straight to me. His eyes looked angry, and he went straight to his seat.

“I’m sorry for being late and disrupting class. I had a little something to take care of on the way.” He took his seat next to Yoona and she tucked his hair behind his ears. He hated that! I thought to myself. But then I remembered it was probably just me. Doubtless, he probably enjoyed the lovely Yoona touching his hair.

Sungmin must have noticed how bothered I was by this and he wrapped his arm around my waist. He leaned closer to me and whispered in my ear, “It’s alright. You have me now.” That made me smile a little.

Thanks. I mouthed. Sungmin ruffled my hair, and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. My face burned up at this. I was new to this type of physical contact as me and Kibum hardly made any.

I was dying of curiosity as to why Kibum was late. I planned to talk to me during break. When the break bell rang Kibum was the first out of his seat, going out into the hallway. He was on the phone. I knew it was bad to eavesdrop but I couldn’t help it!

“Yes officer, I found her. She was just in class. Thanks for your help.” Did he mean me? There was no way…

“What are you doing there?” Kibum asked coldly as he tried to get back into the class.

“Ah! Opp-I mean, Kibum…I was just wondering why you were late this morning…”

Kibum scoffed. “Why was I late? Let ME ask YOU why you already left for school when I arrived at your house 30 minutes before you were suppose to go to school?” So was he really late because of me?

“Because, I needed to go to Sungmins house this morning-“

“And you leave without telling me? Don’t I tell you whenever I have something to do and I wont be able to pick you up or drop you off? And why the hell did you need to go to Sungmin’s house so early in the morning?” Every word he said was said angrily. And every word hurt me so badly. I felt a pang of guilt. I really should have told him. His perfect attendance…

“Why do you care?” I asked, on the verge of tears.

“Why do I care? Jieun, you’re my girlfriend!” He said, annoyed with the whole conversation.

“Not anymore.” I whispered clearly; loud enough for him to hear. 

“What?” He asked in disbelief.

“You heard me. I said I’m not your girlfriend anymore.” My throat hurt from saying this. These were the last words I ever wanted to say to him. But I had to. I had to show him he couldn’t just play with me like that.

“You’re kidding. C’mon, if this is about yesterday, then I’m sorry, alright?” I didn’t say anything. “Jieun...I said I’m sorry, okay? C’mon forgive oppa. Were you that fragile? I’m sorry alright?! DON'T DO THIS!” He yelled the last part, startling me.

“Save it Kibum. We’re over.”  I tried to walk away to the bathroom where I could cry in peace, but his strong hand pulled me into a tight hug.

“If it’s because I’m never nice to you, then I’m sorry. I’ll be more caring from now on. I’ll be the loving caring boyfriend you’ve always wanted! I’ll wear couple tees with you, I’ll take you out on better dates, just…please, JiJi...”

“Leave me alone-“ I couldn’t finish because Kibum Oppa had pulled me in for a kiss. It was my first kiss on the lips with him.

As much as I wanted to give in a forgive him, I couldn’t. He was a two-timer. A cheater. A player. A jerk. “Kibum…” I said painfully pushing him away. “I can’t-“

“Just one more chance. PLEASE.” He said begging. It upset me to see him act so weak.

“Leave her alone, Kibum.”

It was Sungmin. My knight in shining armor has come to save me from the person that I thought was my knight in shining armor but turned out to be the joker who played with people’s hearts.

“This isn’t your business, Lee. This is just between me and her.”

“It is if I’m her boyfriend.” Sungmin said smugly.

Kibum looked at Sungmin and began…laughing. He bitterly laughed. “Funny, Sungmin. REAL funny. Everyone here knows we’re together.” I noticed that there was now a crowd gathered around. The two were making a big scene.

“But you don’t act like it. When you guys go out together, you look like strangers.”

“Look! I SAID ITS NONA YOUR DAMN BUIS-“

“And I said it is if I’m her boyfriend.” Sungmin said coolly. “Ask her.”  He suggested.

Dammit Sungmin! Why’d you do that?! I don’t want to say that to Kibum. It’ll hurt so much…

“Is. This. Ture?” Kibum asked me, cupping my face.

Slowly, I moved his hands back down, and nodded. My chest hurting like crazy.  Kibum fell onto his knees. A tear trickled down my face.

Before I knew it, a loud growl left Kibum’s mouth and he stood up and grabbed Sungmin by the collar of his shirt. “WHO ARE YOU TO STEAL MY GIRLFRIEND?!” A punch was sent to Sungmin’s face, who fortunately missed it. Unfortunately, Kibum’s fist had met with the wall, and it was now bleeding. Kibum ignored the blood and this time successfully punched Sungmin in the face.

“KIBUM!” I said desperately trying to stop him.

Kibum growled at me. “You. You’re really shallow. REALLY REALLY SHALLOW!”

“Oppa! That’s enough!” Yoona said, causing everyone to look in her direction.

Kibum brought his fist down. “I thought you’d understand me if you really loved me.” Kibum whispered so that only I could hear. He was calling me shallow? How could HE be so shallow?! He was the shallow one to not realize why I was ] breaking up with him. Cheating bastard…

My thoughts may have been harsh but the words that left my mouth were nothing but:

“I’m sorry, but-“

“IF YOU’RE ‘SO SORRY’ THEN DON’T BREAK UP WITH ME!”

“Oppa! I SAID TO STOP!” Kibum stopped in defeat. Of course he would stop if his girlfriend he  loved so much told him to. Yoona walked up to him and held his hand. With each movement she made I felt so much pain. “C’mon, oppa. You’re bleeding. Let’s get this treated.” Kibum half-smiled at her.

That was enough. I couldn’t take it anymore. I ran away from the two. Why couldn’t Kibum treat me like that?
