“He obviously wants me to deal with this on my own.” I whispered

I stood up and looked at the mirror. The necklace was exquisite. The pendant itself was the best part. I fiddled with it like I do whenever I had jewelry on.

“I didn’t know he was capable of this, I didn’t know he felt that way about me, and I didn’t know he had emotions!” I was panicking. “Owh, what am I supposed to do now?!”

“Wait. All those times he tried to block my plans and all the times he tried to play a trick on me. The only reason he did it wasn’t because of his uptight reputation, he did it so I won’t get expelled.”

“He did it so I’d still be there with him.” My jaw dropped as I held tighter onto the necklace then my open mouth slowly turned to a smile.

The next day went on more normally. “YAAAH! Kyuhyun-ah! What’s goin’ on?!” Sungmin yelled as he ran towards Kyuhyun.

“S’up Bunny Boy!” Kyuhyun laughed at him.

“Very funny.” Sungmin bitterly responded. “How’s Chaejin?” he curiously asked.

“Oh, I think she’s gonna be fine now.” Kyuhyun smiled to himself.

“Here! What do you think?” Sungmin asked as he pulled out a beautiful silver bracelet from his pocket. “I think I’m going to ask her out.” He admitted.

Kyuhyun stared at the bracelet and lost his tongue. He kept blinking and when he finally came to, he said, “It looks good.” then paid his attention to his locker.

 “Really?! Thanks! I’ll make my move this afternoon. See ya later then!” Sungmin said then rushed off.

Kyuhyun heaved a sigh and thought about the necklace he put around your neck; whether you still had it on or did you throw it when you saw it. Now, more pressing matters came. Sungmin had taken interest in you. He couldn’t figure it out anymore. He felt like he was going to lose it because he certainly can’t bring down an old and loyal friend. He trudged to the classroom and sat himself down.

“Well good morning Ms. Lee! So nice that you could join us today.” the teacher happily greeted when you came in. “Nice to see you’re all better.” he added.

“Thank you sir.” You said and bowed.

Weirdly enough, you flashed Kyuhyun a genuine and innocent smile when you walked to the seat beside him.

“G’morning!” you said cheerfully.

“Yeah, morning.” Kyuhyun uttered.

You raised an eyebrow in curiosity as to why he was so glum but didn’t say another word.

Kyuhyun rested his chin on his hand as he listened to the lecture, absent minded. Chaejin on the other hand was oddly taking down notes.

“It’s so weird that the reason that I wanted to leave this school was starting to fade. I think that soup gave me something? But I don’t even know! I think I might like to stay.” Chaejin thought to herself.

“So now, who’d like to answer the question? Anyone?” the teacher asked.

You raised your hand.

“Alright! Ms. Lee, come on up.” He said.

Kyuhyun had to take a second glance at the empty seat next to him just so the thought of you actually paying attention to class would register in his mind. He looked at you as you were writing all sorts of symbols on the board.

KYUHYUN’S POV~

“Why is she suddenly so interested in all this? Is this another future prank of hers? Why forget all the early nastiness she’s done before and act like this? Has Sungmin already confessed? No, he said he’d do it this afternoon.”

“I must be going out of my mind. I think I’m being all paranoid about this. Why should I out my nose in their business?!?”

“BUT WHY IS SHE ACTING LIKE THIS?!?”

Then it all stopped. The thoughts, doubts and anxiety faded into the background when I saw.

Chaejin was twisting and fiddling with something on her chest. It sparkled as it peeked through her little fingers and saw light. The pendant was incredibly and wonderfully familiar.

“She’s still wearing the necklace I gave her.” I concluded.

After that, I just focused on that fact. I stared at her even as she made her way to the seat next to mine.

“What? Do I have something on my face?” you/Chaejin asked.

“Hmm? N-no. There’s nothing.” I said as I was dragged back to reality.

“Oookaayy.” You said.

But speaking of reality, something struck my mind. Sungmin’s bracelet. I can’t be sure that she won’t fall for him. He’s a good guy, a gentleman, and almost perfect for any girl. I can’t just underestimate those kinds of traits. Especially because I showed none of it to her.

That afternoon must’ve been the worst.

I watched as Sungmin approached Chaejin who was standing in front of her locker. I watched from afar so that they won’t notice me. I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t even decide on what I want. Is it okay that my best friend likes her or will it be okay for my best friend to know that I like the girl too.

At that point, I couldn’t even manage to move myself. I looked at the two of them as Sungmin moved his lips probably talking to Chaejin.

Then it happened. It shattered me as I watched idly as Sungmin gave her the bracelet. I pulled myself out of the corner and stormed out.
