"don't say th-those things" Baekhyun chocked out again and kept his face covered while trying his best to stop the tears. 

"I wont stop! I love you hyun-- no, Baekhyun, I love you so much! I've loved you for so long that even if I had to trade my life for yours I would d-" Chanyeol’s ringing voice was stopped just as Baekhyun's slim hands quickly covered his mouth, his cheeks tinted with the darkest blush Chanyeol had ever seen. 

But just as quickly as he pushed his hands against Chanyeol’s mouth, the latter pulled his own and held them closer, slowly moving his lips to kiss his fingers 

Baekhyun struggled to get his hands away but was taken aback when he noticed how intently Chanyeol was looking at him, so, he stopped, getting lost in Chanyeol’s dark orbs and failing to notice how the latter had managed to move his hands from his mouth to the sides of his face.

“please... believe me” Chanyeol let his voice be heard once again and didn’t dare to break the eye contact. It was the longest Baekhyun had looked at him in a while and he felt like he should imprint this moment deep in his mind. 

“but why?” Baekhyun cooed while his blush spread to his ears.

“do I need a reason?” the younger boy answered right away and it had Baekhyun wondering to himself why he even asked such a question, when he knew how hard it was to explain why he liked or loved whatever it was.

Chanyeol took this as a step towards Baekhyun accepting his feelings better and closed his eyes to take in the feeling of having Baekhyun’s hands pressed firmly against his cheeks. While all his body felt cold and ached, his two cheeks remained warm. 

When he opened his eyes again -after a few seconds- Baekhyun was still staring at him, still wearing that unbearably cute blush and Chanyeol couldn’t help but let go of his hands and pull himself up, his face now standing as closer to Baekhyun’s as he allowed it and both of the latter hands now on his shoulders.

Baekhyun didn’t move, so Chanyeol took that as he wouldn’t mind what was going to come next. So, slowly, and with a little effort, he brought both his hands behind Baekhyun’s neck and pulled his face so their lips would meet. He didn’t move though, already thankful the older boy didn’t immediately pull away.

And much to his surprise, the hands that were once on his shoulders found their way to his back, just as Baekhyun pulled away, softly dropping his head on top of Chanyeol’s right shoulder.

“I’m afraid I’ll only hurt you more Chanyeol” Baekhyun whispered close to Chanyeol’s neck and took a deep breath of his sweet scent before continuing in an equally low tone of voice, “I feel like I don’t deserve you at all” 

By now Chanyeol’s own hands had fallen for the older boys neck, to his slim waist, and after hearing such words he couldn’t help but pull him on top of the bed and closer to his body. “You’re over-thinking everything again, even if you hurt me, it’s okay” 

“It’s not okay for me though” Baekhyun retorted and allowed his tired eyes to fall shut for a few seconds, giving them a little rest. 

He still didn’t know how to respond to Chanyeol’s feelings, but something inside him was burning and he was sure the answer was as clear as water, although he didn’t want to admit it. 

That seemed to be the problem. Him not wanting to admit his own feelings.

“just go to sleep for now” Chanyeol commanded in a soft voice and released the hold he had on the older boy’s slim waist, helping him up and watching him walk to the end of the room and drop his body on top of a small couch.

Although Chanyeol’s body felt tired, his head wouldn’t allow him to sleep, so, without him even noticing, the night had gone by and the first shy rays of light shone through the cracks of the window curtains. Causing him to turn his head towards the window and stare at the increasing light.

He watched the sun slowly rise up in the sky when suddenly, a loud bang, followed by two guys bursting inside the door, caused his head to snap in their direction and Baekhyun’s sleeping figure to suddenly get up.  

“oh my god are you okay? We can as soon as we heard what happened to you!” Kyungsoo yelled and pulled Chanyeol’s rather bruised body into a bone crushing hug, earning himself a loud groan of pain from the latter. He quickly released his hold and apologized.

“I’m fine I’m fine. See? It’s like nothing can hurt me” Chanyeol beamed and gave him one of his tooth-filled smiles, all the while slowly scratching the back of his head -or rather, his bandages- that was incredible itchy at the moment.

Baekhyun took this chance to join the others while sleepily rubbing both of his eyes, that, without Chanyeol knowing the reason, were red and puffy, causing him to look more tired than usual. “Hey guys”

Jongin semi-glared at him while Kyungsoo just stared.

“Baekhyun what the hell?? Couldn’t you, well, you know, have warned us that our friend had almost died?” Jongin asked after a while, with his eyes as wide as possible, as to emphasize his dissatisfaction with the older boy’s actions.

“oh... with all that was going on I seemed to have forgotten about warning you guys” Baekhyun paused for a while, looking confused at his own actions, before continuing, “I’m sorry, I don’t know why I acted that way”

Kyungsoo slowly shook his head before patting Baekhyun on the shoulder, “It’s fine, I understand were you’re coming from. I would’ve probably done the same”

That afternoon, once Kyungsoo, and an overly talkative Jongin had left, Baekhyun slowly took a seat next to Chanyeol’s bed and kept playing with his hands until Chanyeol’s voice brought him back to reality.

“Were you crying last night?” Chanyeol asked and didn’t really need to hear an answer when Baekhyun’s body jumped a little, before the latter pulled his head up, laughing.

“What’re you talking about? Course not!” He said dismissively and waved one of his hands in front of Chanyeol’s face. That is, until one of the younger one’s caught his and pulled it to his lap. He could’ve sworn his heart had jumped a little at the sudden touch, but just as he did every time, he decided to ignore it. 

“don’t you dare blame yourself for what happened” Chanyeol’s hoarse voice rang throughout the whole room and they locked eyes before Chanyeol continued, “this happened because I couldn’t have possibly lived with myself if you got hit by that car. This is my fault, not yours”

As if Chanyeol had read through Baekhyun’s head, he swept away the thing that had been worrying him the whole time. Sending it somewhere Baekhyun didn’t want to know and replacing it with a warm feeling deep inside his heart and body. 

“Thank you Chanyeol”
