BROTHER
THE WARMTHThey were sitting in an outdoor café near the Haeundae beach and enjoyed their afternoon by eating their lunch. It had been long since their last vacation to somewhere outside Seoul. The fact that the trip consisted only by two of them were even more perfect.
Hyosung smiled to the man in front of her as he kept talking about his crush. Hyosung couldn’t help but to observe what he was wearing at the time. He wore a blue shirt with dark navy jeans and sky-blue shoes, his black glasses were lying on the table between them while hers were hanging from her fingers.
His brown eyes were alive more than usual, his sharp nose and his thin lips were as perfect as usual. His hair was styled into small curls. The difference was his skin. He looked darker than when he was in front of the cameras.
“Is that Ahn Jae Hyeon?” Hyosung accidentally overheard whispers which were too loud to be called whispers near her.
Hyosung glanced on the older man and he didn’t seem to be bothered by the whispers around him. He was focused on her and his story, which was all he ever seemed to care about at that time. Hyosung quickly nodded her head and smiled again when Jae Hyeon looked at her—observing if she was listening to him.
If she could tell him honestly, she had forgotten to listen to him. The only thing that kept her from smiling and nodding was his gaze that would send signals to her. She knew how desperate he was to tell her about his crush. It was not fully his fault because Hyosung had actually tried to make him spoil the story since the first time they arrived in the café and had nothing to talk about.
She kind of regretted it now. Jae Hyeon couldn’t stop once he started talking about his crush. Hyosung tried to put herself inside his shoes—she probably would do the same with him if he asked her about her crush. She would talk until she couldn’t utter any words at all.
As Jae Hyeon talked, Hyosung had slowly eaten her foods and sipping her beverage. Jae Hyeon—however, seemed to ignore that and kept blabbering things. Hyosung leaned forward as she tried her best to look interested by whatever Jae Hyeon was saying.
She had bothered Jae Hyeon a lot with her stories and she somehow felt like owing him something. Now when she had the chance to actually pay him for those midnight stories, she happily gave her ears. Although she knew that her ears should be red from all of those non-stop talks Jae Hyeon had been doing.
When she had finally had enough of his story, she waved her palm in front of his face.
“Jae Hyeon, stop it.” She said sternly, her voice sounded bored and that couldn’t be denied after the time she actually spent to listen to his story.
He pouted in response but quickly changed his expression when he noticed that his foods were barely touched.
“Ouch, they’re supposed to be served when still hot. That’s going to make them a lot better.” He said loud to Hyosung as he spooned his foods and ate them.
Hyosung scoffed upon his behavior. He was totally after something that she couldn’t figure out. When Jae Hyeon became a like what he was doing that would later make them going into some deep conversations. She liked it, it was the truth. But whenever they were talking about serious stuffs, Jae Hyeon would actually confront her and corner her.
He would appear to be the ‘victim’ and the ‘innocent’ one while she would be the ‘bad’ girl. She couldn’t understand him sometimes when he did that. If he did that to make her feeling guilty over what she was doing, Hyosung would let him to win and tell him to shut up.
“You know, Hyosung,” he started as he straightened his body, “You do not look like a woman at all.”
Hyosung who had paid attention seriously to him couldn’t help but to slap his hands that were on the table. Jae Hyeon winced when he felt his skin burning from the slap.
“Why did you do that?! That was not feminine at all!” Jae Hyeon protested.
“Now, now, if you tell me that once again, I will not hesitate to slap you once again.” Hyosung said sternly and glared on the
