I felt a strong arm gripped me firmly by the waist and pulled me back behind the pillar so forcefully that I was practically being lifted off the ground in the process. Before I could say anything though, his other hand was already tightly pressed against my mouth. It hurt. Though I was back-facing him, our bodies were so closely bound together that I wondered if he could feel my heartbeat pulsating strongly through my body. 

Let me go, let me go please, I could only plea silently as I trembled in fear. By now, tears are flowing uncontrollably down my cheeks. He must have felt it too. Yet he refused to loosen his grip even by the slightest bit. What kind of cold-blooded soul are you? Please let them go! The voice in me was begging, shouting, pleading yet my struggle was futile.

Then it came the most painful moment of my entire life.

The sound of the three consecutive gunshots reverberated through my body and possibly straight through my heart. It could not have hurt this much otherwise. I could not remember anything else after that besides pitch black darkness. Pitch black darkness and the sound of repetitive gunshots over and over again.

Yes I know this is a really short chapter. It is actually more of a prologue and it is important in my pov.
