"That's alright! I'll see you tomorrow anyway!" I smiled and looked at him, "and thanks for driving me home~."
I turned to open the door to the car.
His hand grabbed my hand.
"No, stay," he said.
I looked at him curiously.
"I..," he sighed and looked at me, "we have to stop this Jessica. I have to stop this."
A sinking feeling rose up in me, "what?"
"I can't keep this up. I don't love you. I never have. I...I love your best friend Joanne.." His eyes were still aimed at the floor and his hands gripped the stearing wheel.
I felt my world spin and with a tight smile I said, "That's...okay Josh. I already knew." I left him with that and opened the door and slid out. But not before I saw his shocked expression as he looked up at my retreating figure.
I let the tears slip out on the long walk up my driveway to my door.
The truth was, I didn't know. I wish I didn't know.
'Is this what two years was worth to you?' I thought as I pulled myself upstairs into my room.
